Planet Name: Begharet
Radius: ~ 70,000 km around the equator
Percentage Water Cover:
Percentage of surface that is life-sustaining:
Gravity: varies depending on the layer
Number of Moons: 2- Beghar and Keppa (Going to put a form below for one)
Star: a yellow star (no name yet)
Day Length: 9.6 earth hours
Year length: 9 earth years/ 13687.5 Begharettan days
Atmosphere: 50% Hydrogen, 20% helium, 19% ammonia, 5% Nitrogen, 4% oxygen, 1% Hydrogen sulfide- dispersed throughout giving it a vaguely yellow appearance, 1% water - mostly near the center

Key Features: Violent storms swirl throughout the planet, growing in violence as the depth- and thus the pressure- increases. At the core is a small mass of compressed ammonia. There is an atmospheric layer above this consisting of superheated and compressed water vapor. it is almost liquid in nature.
The planet consists of several layers/zones of pressure and gaseous content that serve as differing ecosystems for the lifeforms here. Different lifeforms with different adaptations can be found in each layer.
(layer 1- spaceside layer)The thin layer at the top is too thin to be inhabited by most, if not all, of the creatures, although there may be one or two able to survive in the mid to lower parts of that layer.
(layer 2- majority layer)The layer below that is the largest layer, and holds the most species, and certainly the most quantity of species. It consists mostly of hydrogen and helium with only small amounts of ammonia and nitrogen, usually in liquid form. the end of this layer is marked by a patchy layer of compressed oxygen.
(layer 3- Hekkit layer)the Hekkit layer, named for the scientist who discovered it, is a gorgeous layer. This next layer is constantly roiled by storms that effect the oxygen barrier above. It has hydrogen, helium, and plasmic Nitrogen storms. By human standards, the storms are actually quite beautiful as they bring down strands of oxygen from the upper part of the layer. The oxygen makes its way back up when the storms move on. Only the most adaptable creatures live here and ride the storms to find their various forms of nourishment
(layer 4- Pacific layer) this layer is very thick. It is close to the core (which tells you just how big the majority layer is, by the way) and it is a misnomer. it is never calm here, whereas the Hekkit layer has its moments of calm. The storms pass on and fade there. Here, in the pacific layer, winds are so constant that there are four massive cyclones constantly blowing a high-pressure combination of the majority gasses and liquid nitrogen in a uninterrupted series of circles. there is life here, though it is mostly built to navigate the constant winds. It is thought that the slight fluctuations of these cyclones is responsible for many of the storms in the upper layers.
(Layer 5 Fluid layer) This layer is made up of semiliquid water, hydrogen, and nitrogen constantly flowing around the core. it is a very high pressure zone and predominantly 'aquatic'. it is a very small layer and contains the least diverse range of species. the cyclones above stir the surface of this layer, but for the most part there is only a current proceding in an equatorial line. the lower portions of this layer are sterile save for small simple organisms,a nd the parts close to the core have no life forms at all.
(layer 6- the core) Made up of extremely dense plasma and almost crystalline hydrogen sulfide, this can be seen from the mid fluid layer as a yellow ball.
It cannot contain life, due to its composition and pressure.

Sentient Species: None

Other lifeforms: -See any response forms-

Note: Any lifeforms would probably take advantage of the gas-giant atmosphere and probably float. Carl Sagan's ideas about life on Jupiter might be an interesting reference.

Why the planet was doomed: This planet is not doomed. Its moons, however are doomed by various environmental changes- see the life-containing moon Beghar's profile below-

Planet Moon Name: Beghar
Radius: 2500 Km
Percentage Water Cover: ~ 25% water 75% land
Percentage of surface that is life-sustaining: 75% livable 25% barren
Gravity: 6.5 *10^0 M/S/S
Number of Moons: NA. is a moon.
Day: approximately 30 earth hours due to its slow rotation
Year: (around Bagharet) 287 days
Atmosphere: 60% Carbon Dioxide, 20% oxygen, 10% Nitrogen, 8% ammonia, 1% water Vapor, 1% other gasses

Key Features:
most of the water found on the planet is in rivers flowing towards the poles, where it pools, evaporates, and rains down on the moon again. The rivers traditionally denote country and regional boundaries, and are not very deep.
Droughts are very, very rare, and the rainy season is almost year round.
There is often very little sunlight, and eclipses of the sun Via its parent planet, Bagharet, are very common. Often it will only have bright sunlight during a single season cycle, and have patchy sunlight or eclispes for most of the rest of its time.
it has a cycle of seasons dependant both on its position around Bagharet as well as Bagharet's position around the sun, meaning that no season is ever the same, and that it is very hard to predict what will happen unless a long-term calender is worked out.
That said, life has adapted, and this small moon contains much diversity of life. There are a wide range of environments that constantly change and adapt to fit the season.
Many flora and fauna undergo physical and sometimes psychological changes based on the varied seasons, and often reproduce during a series of seasons.
There are large, almost perpetually active volcanos covering about 25% of the surface. While life cannot live in this area, it can cross the volcanic grounds on its way to other habitats. Thus, the Volcanic wastes are barren of their own lifeforms, but serve as a transit area for many migrating creatures.
Volcanic activity varies as the gravity pull from both its parent planet and the star effect it in its seasonal rotation.

Note: whoever makes the sentient species can name the sun as they wish
Note: any species that evolved on Beghar will have a wide range of seasonal changes- an adaptation to the chaotic seasons. this can be as simple, such as cold and not cold, and complicated, such as 'at this temperature X happens'

Sentient Species: -to be made-

Why the planet was doomed:
It was a simple case of the Domino theory.
Bagharet passed through the tail of a comet, a very rare occurance. The ice and rock fragments bombarded Keppa, the sister moon, causing it to change orbit, pulling it closer to its sister moon, who had been uneffected by the bombardment, save for having a neat thing to see during the night.
The new orbit provided another pull towards Begharet, and Beghar's orbit began to change, too. It began to drift closer and closer to Begharet, although there was no risk of collision with Keppa since the other's new orbit had taken it out of the other moon's path. However, as it got closer to the gas giant, the stronger gravity began to wreak havok on the ecosystems.
The keepers noted this and came in to pick up specimens. they had plenty of time, in general, but it was pretty apparant that the moon would not survive another planet year.
So, they took their time collecting specimens, then left.
Not too long after they left, Beghar progressed close enough to be completely torn apart by Begharet's gravity. Begharet now has a new ring composed of the remains of the moon, including atmospheric gasses, land matter, ice, organic particles, and various frozen/exploded corpses of lifeforms not torn apart.
