And we were singing worship, same old, same old. I love the high school ministry at my church so much, I was in a total happy place, until I read the words to one of the songs. "The lion and the lamb, the lion and the lamb." Naturally, my thoughts went to Twilight.
And then I thought to myself, "What the heck?! I just let a stupid piece of crap called a book disrupt my sunday morning worship, what's wrong with me?!"
Is it just me, or did Meyer not only poison our minds with a big fat mary-sue story, but now she has corrupted acient spiritual sayings? That just isn't right...
Because the lion didn't freakin' fall in love with the lamb; they simply laid at peace together WHEN THE LORD CAME BACK. And the last time I checked, the Lord dosen't like vampires too much.
Anybody else had a similar experience?

Well, that's one of the reason's people think that Twilight is Christian (which it's effing Not scream ) References such as the Lion and the Lamb.
So, yes, she is poisoning the sayings, I hope she burns in hell for this blasphemy.

Since I'm not very Christian, I'm not going to touch this with a ten foot pole. But I can see why you would be upset.

I'm not even Christian and I hate how she cheapens that verse. Dx
But that's why Twilight is so great, don't you see? There are good Christian morals in it. Like abusive relationships, teen pregnancy, and *****! 8D Everything's awwwwwwright as long as it promotes abstinence.

...it's really how you allow your mind to wander. When in reference to the Bible you make connections to many other things. In my opinion, it's on how you connect things. Sure, whenever I hear the word 'twilight' I instantly think of Meyer's novel even though that was not the intention.
I wouldn't say that it is poisoning or corrupting ancient spiritual sayings because you are making the connection to it and so are others. I also think that the saying 'and so the lion feel in love with the lamb' was never actually intended to make a connection to the Christian Bible, rather, to show the readers two things about their relationship;
1. Bella is the lamb, Edward is the lion. It's an unusual relationship (and normally would never occur) and is probably not at all healthy and,
2. The relationship is dangerous. You have a defenseless lamb (Bella) and the hunter (Edward).
People just connect Twilight's saying with the saying because of the similarity when they are actually two separate things.
The Bible is talking about peace, and cooperation and co-existence.
Twilight is showing a stupid, dangerous relationship between prey and hunter.
My point here is, you really shouldn't dwell on these sort of things. If Meyer had actually made a reference to the Bible she would have at least paraphrased it or quoted it.

I agree with Rixaka and Luckybug.
I do think that the lion and lamb concept is going to connect a mythical sort of thing (which in no way was supposed to link to the Bible) to the Bible. BUT yes, the connection does make a lot of sense in a nonbiblical sort of way. It was just a comparason that was the same as in the bible. I think that Meyer could have found something else to make the comparason, but would she actually take the time to think about the outcome of what she's writing, who knows.

Actually, pretty sure it was meant to connect to the Lion laying with the Lamb. SMeyer's a Mormon (which IS a branch of Christianity), and if I remember correctly the book starts off with a Bible verse.

Siiince I'm not Christian or anything, I'm not really gonna touch on this.
But whenever I hear the word " Twilight ", it tends to resonate rather unpleasantly in my ears.

But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.
Genesis 2:17
Copied straight out of the book.
Annd.... The beginning of New Moon.
These violent delights have violent ends And in their triumph die, like fire and power, Which, as they kiss, consume.
Romeo and Juliet, Act II, Scene VI
Also copied straight from the book.
Don't ask me what bullshit she popped into Eclipse and Breaking Dawn. My sister only owns New Moon and Twilight.

Really...? I had no idea that lion and lamb thing was religious. Then again I'm not christian anymore, and never really got into it once I grew free will...
Meyer's pretty much poisoned things, I can't even think of 'sparkle' without thinking of her book =.=

According to Mormonism, Christainity and Mormonism are one in the same.
