I certainly did. I only have one more day of church in this ward before we move, though.
How was yours?

I'm pretty excited--I'll get to go to my old college, which has a better program for my major than the one out here.

It was part of the traditional process of coronation ritual; the subjects would have to proclaim their own humility, mortal nature, and subjection to God by prostrating themselves.

In the first verse it says "behold they had fallen to the earth, for the fear of the Lord had come upon them."
How are we “less than the dust of the earth”? (this is found in Helaman 12:4–8 and Moses 1:9–10)

Because humans are stupid, pathetic, weak creatures who have no power whatsoever except it be given them of God. We're less than the dust because even the dust obeys God's commands, but we have the agency to be prideful and rebellious and think we're better than that.
David will be here ASAP, he's doing family scripture study.

yay, we are growing.
and yeah, I like your explanation of it.
ok so why do you think King Benjamin emphasized his people’s “nothingness” and unworthiness? (this is back in Mosiah 4: 5-8, 11,12)

Again, this was part of the standard coronation speech ceremony, the king having his people recognize their own innate deficiencies. Benjamin put his own spin on things by tying it to discourse on the saving power of the Atonement.

I don't think this was a coronation. I think that when King Benjamin was emphasizing their worthlessness, he was trying to humble them. When it comes down to the Lord and the Spirit and such things, we have to be humble. We can go to church all that we want and we can believe in the Atonement all that we want, but if we can't humble ourselves to these sort of things, our belief, as strong as it may be, is worthless. Like I said, I believe he was reinforcing humility amongst his people.

That's good. (I was looking this up and Gryphex is correct this isn't a coronation speech, it's more along the lines of their version of General conference.) King Benjamin was trying to get his people to repent and seek forgivness of the Lord.
ok, now why is it essential for us to recognize our dependence on the Lord?
