It was fairly obvious from the start that they were to be wed. But Eyris needed construction, s**t had a tendency to happen, and Magnet happened to be in the neighborhood. As often as Rhys wondered if he was legally able to perform the ceremony himself, he decided it would be far and away to awkward if he was both priest AND groom. Besides, Amelia knew him personally from her days with the Watch. And so, after some quick clothes digging and finding a small chapel, they were set. Nobody else was around, but honestly, everybody already knew. This was just making it official. And so he and Amelia stood, hand in hand as the made their vows. Rhys looked and felt very happy to be doing this at last. Loki was gone! They would live on safely (he hoped) and raise a good family of their own. Renault would see--he'd be proud of them.

Amelia was a little unsure at first about doing their wedding this quickly. Rhys had a point, though; the others had much more important things to be worrying about. There was rebuilding to do, family to reclaim, and ultimately much more pressing issues for the others to handle. Rhys and Amelia didn't need a large crowd, anyway, to prove that they loved each other. The fact that Magnet had agreed to wed them as their priest was reassurance enough for Amelia.
She had made sure to thank him (repeatedly), after all. He had his own troubles to handle, what with all of the injured Watch members...
But this wasn't a time for regret. Amelia squeezed Rhys' hand tightly in hers, the other gripping her bouquet. This was a time for happiness. For new beginnings. Her smile grew warmer as the ceremony proceeded.
New beginnings, indeed...

 Magnet smiled, wearing his long black robe and a white stole, as opposed to his normal black uniform and blue sash. On the end of each sleeve was a round white symbol, with an identical one on his back, and a black one on either end of his stole. "Glad to see you both again," he said, smiling. "We three are, of course, gathered here to see two young people forever bonded with the ties of holy matrimony, as a testament to their commitment to love and protect one another for all of their days." He held up a pair of beautiful little golden bands for the two of them to see, saying, "These rings represent the never-ending bond that the two of you share, just as a circle never breaks, so shall your love never be broken." And so he turned to Rhys. "So. Do you, Rhys, take Amelia to be your lawfully wedded wife, to have and to hold, for better and for worse, in sickness and in health, in... sammiches and lack of sammich...es? Er, 'til death do you part, if so, please respond, 'I do.'"

Rhys had to hold in the laughter at the "sammiches" statement, but still managed an "I do". It sounded just a bit forced, but it was obvious that he was trying not to laugh from the comment about sammiches.

Magnet cleared his throat and went on, turning to face Amelia, now. "And do you, Amelia," he said, "take Rhys to be your lawfully wedded husband to love and cherish, to have and to hold, for better or for worse, in sickness and in health, and to be sure that there is always an abundance of... sammiches, I'm really sorry, that's what it says here. Um, 'til death do you part, if so please respond, 'I do.'"

Amelia didn't laugh as Rhys did. She just sort of stared at the book, eyebrows going up in surprise. It wasn't so much frustration, just... complete surprise. "Is that... actually part of the book?" she whispered. Magnet hadn't seemed to write that in, judging by his own befuddlement, but...
Magnet was addressing her then, so Amelia turned her eyes up to his face. She couldn't help but giggle then; whoever had written into that book certainly had an interesting sense of humor...
"I do," she said, her smile widening. "And don't feel bad. It's funny."

Magnet coughed, blushing a bit, then laughed and offered each of them a ring. "Rhys," he said, "Please repeat after me. With this ring," he said, proceeding with time between each part for Rhys to repeat it, "I thee wed. Just as this circle, my love for you is never-ending, and just as it is made of incorruptible material, my love for you will never be tainted." As Rhys finished, he smiled. "Now, place the ring on her left ring finger."

Rhys followed closely, repeating the words as Magnet spoke them. When he was finished, he slid the ring on Amelia's left ring finger. It fit snugly. Excellent!

Okay, good, he gave the right ring to the right person! Goooood. Good. He turned to Amelia, smiling. "And now, please repeat after me, Amelia. With this ring, I thee wed. Just as this circle, my love for you is never-ending, and just as it is made of incorruptible material, so my love for you will never be tainted." He smiled, running his fingers along the back of his neck slowly. Once Amelia finished speaking, he said, "Now, please place the ring on his left ring finger."

Amelia repeated Magnet's words carefully, so as to not stumble over any of them. She took the golden band from Magnet's grasp and took Rhys' hand in her own. The ring fit perfectly over his left ring finger, and both seeing his ring and feeling the weight of her own made her smile a little brighter.

Magnet smiled. "Rhys and Amelia, it is at this time that I pronounce the two of you husband and wife." He turned to Rhys and smirked. "You may now kiss the bride," he said, stepping back a bit.

There was quiet applause from the back of the empty chapel as a masked figure stood up, smirking, and once he caught Amelia's eye he turned and swept out the doors, his cape whisking around the corner before he disappeared from sight!

And so Rhys did, sweeping Amelia into his arms for one long kiss. Yes! They did it! They really did it! But no need to make out here, there were better things they could be doing now! He reached down, getting one arm around her legs and lifted her upward, resting her firmly against his body.
...Rhys, doing that? It seemed improbable, but he HAD gotten a bit more buff, and Amelia wasn't that heavy. Unlikely though it was, he could actually do it. He slowly but surely made for the exit, thanking Magnet on the way out for all that he had done for them.
He saw Siegell, but he couldn't help but grin at his fleeing back. At this point, his appearance hardly mattered.

Amelia's eyes lit up as she wrapped her own arms around Rhys' chest, her bouquet dropping to the floor, forgotten. She barely registered the sound of clapping from the back of the chapel until, a few minutes later, Rhys was lifting her into his arms. She reflected for a moment on how strong he had gotten--the last time he tried this, he could barely move three feet--until she noticed Siegell rising to his feet.
What...? Amelia's eyes met his for just a moment; then he was gone, cape whirling around him to obscure his form. She watched him leave, then shook off the sudden shudder of apprehension. Creepy... but forget about him.
There were much more important matters to attend to, after all. Siegell was barely important. Amelia smiled warmly at Rhys, wrapping her arms securely around his neck. Her eyes closed, head against his shoulder. Much more important, indeed.

Magnet smiled, watching them go, and then shook his head and picked up his things, marching back toward Adliana Yard. On second thought... he was hungry. He stopped by his favorite sammich place. ._.
