Everything... it was all different now. Things weren't how they used to, and while neither of them had ever really looked at the other and uttered the actual words, he loved her. When she'd come to him, pregnant with another's cubs, he had endured it and loved them as his own, but there had been no change in her. She loved him too, yes, he knew that, even without her saying so, but it was different from how he felt.

Different levels of love and different ways to express it.

She'd told him that she needed to let him go; that she was simply not what he'd been looking for. What had he been looking for, in the first place? Was there something she knew that he didn't? She was able to see the Truth - live is, as it was her domain... maybe she had seen something that she could not tell him about?

Whatever the case, after Audilifu had told him that, he'd turned away from her and had walked away. He hadn't even bothered to disguise himself as he padded for days. Needing no food and requiring no water, the god walked and walked, unaware of his surroundings; walking helped him think. He'd dived into his mind and didn't seem keen on coming out of it just yet. He didn't stop walking even as he entered the mist covered forests, the moon hanging over him almost mystically.

Samsara didn't enjoy the magic of his surroundings because... he couldn't see it. He was lost in thought; what had been and what could have been.

She was immediately on alert when she felt another god's presence, and moved towards their location. Many gods inhabited these lands so to say she was worried would be a stretch, but she also couldn't help but wonder a little every time, if the next god she encountered wouldn't be that one eyed demon... No, these lands were hidden, and she'd no intention of wandering from them. The odds of running into him again were slim, even for a goddess.

No, who she found was much, much more interesting and less terrifying. She stopped in his path, her wings flickering as usual. He bore no disguise, and in these lands there was no need to so she didn't either. Then again, he seemed rather lost in thought.

"And what troubled ghosts bring you to these lands, if I may ask, stranger...?"

He'd been so lost in thought, that he almost crashed into the goddess' black body as she stepped in front of him. Blinking, as if almost out of a daze, he raised his head to look at her; for the first time in days, Karma looked and actually saw. Whatever spell he'd been under dissolved slightly and he found himself even more lost than he'd started off as, "I... am not sure," he murmured, "I came to a startling revelation," she was not the first soul to stop him since he'd started walking after he left Dili, but she was the first to ask him the right question, perhaps, "I just... want to forget. I thought that if I walked far enough, I'd be able to get away from it, but it never leaves my mind."

It was clear he was haunted, but the nature of his ghosts was left up in the air. At least, till he looked back at her, "I was meant to be impartial. Karma can't take sides with anything or anyone - I am a judge. I judge others. I was never meant to fall in love, was I? Have you ever fallen in love with someone that can see into your very soul? Know all the Truths of the world? Know what it is you do, or have done in the past? Have you ever loved someone so much that it hurts?"

Looking away, the god closed his eyes and allowed the mist to be moved by the sweet night breeze, "I just want to forget that love. What good is a judge that can no longer judge?" he said, "What good am I, if I can't do what I am meant to do?"

Oh he was indeed troubled. She didn't need to have a domain in the emotional realm to see that. He even shared his answer freely, with no further need for prompting.

Teuli listened calmly as the mists swirled about them, even as the memories of her own past romance with Ukali swirled lightly about her mind. She watched him, and when he had finished speaking, finished asking his questions she thought carefully over them a moment.

His domain was one that she was quite familiar with. It had a paw in her own affairs, her own powers, after all. She could not take or give without a price in return, could not curse without somehow feeling the effect. She was not karma, but she experienced it regularly. Indeed, impartiality was key in his duties, and she wondered what diety or mortal could have possibly gotten under his fur enough to shake him from that since she'd last met him?

"And if you could forget? Would you sacrifice even the sweet memories of your time with them for the sake of your duties, as a judge? Do your responsibilities truly mean more to you than your memories? If so... then I may be able to help you."

He had, before, only been half listening to her, still paying attention to his thoughts over the goddess in front of him. However, her words forced his train of thought to derail straight into a metaphorical mountainside. His ears perked and he turned his head to regard the female seriously, "You can do that, my dear?" his voice had lowered, as if he were talking some sort of sin by even considering doing that.

Was his job really that important?

Should he take the exit she was offering him? Was that any better than taking the coward's way out? Not really, but he was just... so tired now. He had been reborn a few times in the past, but his mind still remembered every moment he'd lived through, both good and bad. Was he willing to give up the good moments in favour of forgetting the bad? Start over a-new?

"No pain, no gain," he murmured softly at her, offering her a bittersweet smile, "You seem familiar, my dear, please forgive me for not being able to place you just now... my mind hasn't quite been itself lately," he then looked away, pondering her offered. It wasn't till he took a deep breath in, only to let it out a sigh that he spoke up again, "I would, yes. I would give up the good moments to get away from the bad ones... because I can not experience any more good moments if I'm stuck eternally haunted by the bad ones. I never forget.... I still remember everything."

The goddess was not offended to only be half heard, not when he clearly heard what mattered from what was said. When he asked her to confirm that she could indeed do what it was that he implied she simply nodded her head in silence once. She could. He had to be sure though.

A moment later and she had her answer, but... to be certain.

"But I do mean all of your memories..."

Since removing specific ones, or even just a specific span of time was beyond her control, vastly. She could only take his memories as a whole as a sacrifice, as what he wanted in exchange was rather vast as well, emotional liberation. Had he asked for something specific pertaining to his memories, such as the well being of a loved one, perhaps a mortal's life to be spared, then she could perhaps have done something more finely tuned, but what he wanted, escape from the pain of not just his lost love but his past lives pain as well, no, she had to have them all in order to perform -that- sacrifice.

"I know," he said, "That is the nature of all deals in this world. If you want something, you have to be willing to let go of something equally important," he was, after all, Karma; he understood the basic concept behind his domain, and though he did not know what her domain was... he was pretty sure he understood the concept behind it too.

"As I said... no pain, no gain," he let out another sigh before turning to face her fully, a determined expression coming over his features as he regarded her, "So long I remembered my domain, and how to do my job, it will be fine. Do what you must, my dear; I was ready to give up before, and you're offering me a second chance instead."

He was ready to let go, just like Dili had told him he'd do; what he had never imagined was that he would have to let go of everything else in order to let go of her. The irony of life was vast, after all, wasn't it?

"Very well then." She agreed with the finality the situation called for. "I will leave you with your own bare identity, then, and nothing more."

As he faced her fully she folded her wings down to her sides, tail calmly swirling the mists behind her, much like a lantern.

"Then before I do this, you should know that wherever you do wake up you'll not know where you are. Do you want to chose a place before I remove all recollection of it?"

"Return me home, my dear," he said with a tired sigh, motioning up to the sky, "Return me to our Haven, where I can remain safe."

Safe from what though? The past? His memories? Himself? .... Mortals? He wasn't sure, but it seemed like the appropriate place to go to, "Now then, do what you must, and thank you. Forgive me for not asking for your name before - My name is Samsara, thee God of Karma. Remember me, for in you and others will lay the life I'll soon forget - if it's kept alive through you all, it'll be fine if I forget."

With that, he closed his eyes and waited.

Waiting, he was good at that. He'd always been good at watching and waiting. Maybe he should go back to just that.

"As you wish, Samsara... I shall."

The goddess offered a small, sad and final smile just as he began to close his eyes, and as she drew closer working her powers over him she was also teleporting the two of them back to the haven known as the home of the gods.

As she backed away from his now sleeping form, she thought to herself: How often have I wished for someone to relieve me of that very same burden? How many more times? And the goddess before me whose place I took?

But... it wasn't really her place to question. Such was simply the fate of gods.

Silently then she took her leave once more from his presence, for the last time that he would be able to recall.
