I originally posted this in the rave thread, but I think it fits better here. Since, I think, I’m the oldest in this guild, this might be the best place for me to make a contribution. I will fill in history if I know it and when I have time. Three from Rush. These were recorded in their prime. Free Will Spirit of Radio The Tree Rush was composed of only 3 men and they put out an incredibly full sound. But it’s Rush’s lyrics that really get to me! biggrin If anyone would like the lyrics to these songs posted, I would be happy to do so. biggrin

I love classic rock! It is odd seeing as I am only 14...But it just is the best to me! I love The Steve Miller band, The Allan Parson Project, and lots of others!

I object to the poll, because there's no option for loving what you parents listen to. :/

I have now corrected that grievous oversight. I’ve added, “It’s great! I love it!” to the poll. I also thought I’d look for some songs from Steve Miller Band and Alan Parsons Project. Jungle Love by Steve Miller BandI could go on and on with Steve Miller, except his “Fly Like an Eagle.” It’s a great song, but it brings back one of the most boring New Years Eve parties I’ve ever been to! rofl Don’t Answer Me by The Alan Parsons Project The cool thing about The Alan Parsons Project is that Alan Parsons and Eric Woolfson wrote, produced and engineered the songs, but didn’t perform them. They used several different people and bands to perform.

Heh, I was gonna mention Rush as soon as I read the thread's title... But I see that the OP already beat me to it.
So, Pink Floyd anyone?

Hopefully, I’ll have some time soon to look up videos from some of the bands everyone mentioned. For now, I’ll just comment off the top of my head.
Pink Floyd is pretty awesome when you want to sit back, relax and just listen.
The Beatles! These guys changed music! If any group deserves to be remembered for their contribution it’s The Beatles! I was only a little kid when they were playing, but I remember the excitement when they came to America for the first time!
I’d have to look this up, but I think, The Who had the first Rock Opera and it was great!
When I’m in the mood for something a little dark, nothing beats The Doors.
Dire Straits having the audacity to mock their own business was great and so was the song, “Money for Nothin’!”
I'll try to look for Tom Petty’s “Don’t Come Around Here No More.” It had a twisted Alice in Wonderland theme. cool
Queen! I love Queen!! IMHO, Freddie Mercury had one of the best voices ever! And the harmonies, they were amazing! If you ever get the chance to see the version of “Flash Gordon” that was made in the 80’s. Queen did all the background music. The movies was quite campy (actually, I love campy), but the music was awesome!
When Led Zeppelin’s “Stairway to Heaven” came out, anyone with a guitar was trying to learn it. I think I may have even known how to play it at one time. rofl
I plan on looking for some Queen and Tom Petty’s “Don’t Come Around Here No More” from the list above. I’m also gonna look for Sly & the Family Stone and Three Dog Night. Just for the heck of it, does anyone know how Three Dog Night got their name?

If you ever get the chance to see the version of “Flash Gordon” that was made in the 80’s. Queen did all the background music. The movies was quite campy (actually, I love campy), but the music was awesome! He died 9 months before I was born. Freddie is like my hero/role model/inspiration/you name it!

Thanks Twilight! biggrin Here’s the rest of the music I foretold. Minus “Don’t Come Around Here No More”, which Twilight was so kind to provide. heart A couple from Sly and the Family Stone. Unfortunately, I don’t know a lot about them, but I like the music! biggrin Dance to the Music Stand I get to slip in Queen and David Bowie in the same song. And BTW, this is the original! Way before Vanilla Ice’s “Ice Ice Baby.” Under Pressure I don’t think this next one requires any explanation. rofl Fat Bottom Girls What list of Queen songs would be complete without . . . Bohemian Rhapsody Did you start banging your head in the appropriate part? Here’s 1 by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. Tom Petty later became part of “The Traveling Wilburys.” This group also included George Harrison (The Beatles), Bob Dylan, Roy Orbison and Jeff Lynne (ELO). Runnin’ Down a Dream This is probably the best know Three Dog Night song. Joy to the World These next two by Three Dog Night are written by Paul Williams. He wrote a lot of music for other people to perform in the 1970s. The first video shows how we used to listen to our music. An Old Fashioned Love Song Out in the Country Being originally from the country, this is one of my favorites! biggrin Since I didn’t see any guesses on the name Three Dog Night, I’ll tell you. Long, long ago people used to judge how cold a night was by how many dogs you needed on your bed. A “three dog night” was very, very cold! lol

I actually have had a few scenes in my life reminiscent of Wayne's World's opening scene. Ah, riding in cars and singing old a** music, ain't nothing quite as fulfilling, yet stereotypical.
