Hey guys! It’s come to our attention that there’s a bit of foul play going on. It doesn’t seem like much, but using information YOU know and applying it to what your CAMPER knows can be considered cheating. Let me go over the basics of IC information and OOC information.


First, let’s start with what most of us are familiar with: OOC information. OOC information (or Out-Of-Character information) is stuff that you as a player knows. You know that you signed up for a Total Drama Island/Action based event at the Audio Rhetoric shop on GaiaOnline. You know who Chris McLean, Chef Hatchet, Owen, Bridgett, Trent, Harold, etc from the show are. You know that out of aaaaall those characters, only Chris McLean and Chef Hatchet are appearing, and that Chris is the host, Chef is the cook/right hand man.

Everything you know is OOC information.

Second is IC information, or In-Character information. This is stuff your character knows. Your camper knows their name, their history, and that they’re now stuck on a reality TV show called Total Drama Audio. They know they’re an audio, they know they’ve been kidnapped in the middle of the night thanks to their “sponsor.”

HOWEVER! Campers will ONLY know that Chris McLean is a famous TV host if they happened to watch figure ice skating, or managed to catch Total Drama Island when it was aired on TV.

Campers will NOT know information that is stated in posts, or what goes on in other threads unless they are present in-character.

For example, campers who go into The Woods will not know that a good portion of the wildlife has been relocated and imported to Wawanakwa. If Chris, Chef, Scott, or 13 ever made mention of it within your camper’s ear shot, then they would know. There are some exceptions, however. If your camper happened to be an aspiring animal show host, then they’d know what species were natural and which were introduced.

How can I tell the difference between OOC and IC information?
It’s easy! Picture yourself as your camper, do a bit of IRL role-play. Now... What would the camper know? Let’s say you’re in the woods. Lunch isn’t for awhile, you’re hungry, and you see some berries. If your camper happened to have read books on survival, done some camping themselves, or have taken some Audio Scout lessons, they will most likely know whether or not the berries are safe to munch on. If your camper grew up in the city and had nothing to do with the outdoors or was waited on hand and foot, then chances are they will NOT know.

Remember, using OOC information Icly is considered cheating. If you are caught, you will be asked to reconsider your post. If you continue to use information unfairly, you may be subjected to unwanted disciplinary action. Seriously, you could get really messed up.

Err... can campers infer things?

Like say since Chris likes to torture them that most likely the challenge will embarass/hurt/do something else bad to them? Just as an example.
