Although the day was getting into dusk, the world hadn't quite cooled off enough from the hot, hot afternoon sun. Now, Egyptia stuck well to the lion's nature of loving to bask in the sun, and that was precisely what she was doing now, but she was stretched as far as she could comfortably be and the wings at her ankles were fluttering, behaving as fans for the lioness.
With the exception of her personal fans and the fact that her ears were alert, Egyptia appeared to be almost asleep or just waking. Either way, she was completely at rest.

Ceas pawed hungrily at the ground, overcome with boredom. A light breeze kept her cool, even though the hot sun was beating down on her dark fur. She lifted her head with a sigh. She had no friends, and it was starting to really take a toll on her.
Suddenly, a foreign sent reached her nostrils via the breeze. She snarled, preparing for a fight. She quickly looked around, noticing a purple lioness lying on the ground. 'Is she dead?, Ceas thought with a gasp. She squinted, attempting to get a better look. 'No, just sleeping, she sighed with relief, but remained completely still.

Egyptia's ears definitely perked up at the snarl, and everything in her at once both became taunt and completely still. She thought maybe the snarl had turned into a gentler breath, but didn't know if that was the true interpretation.
After a few beats like that, she opened one eye, then the other. Her back was facing the other lioness, explaining why she hadn't scented her before now and why she saw nothing.
She decided to take the safe route, going from completely still to jumping up and turning around at the same time, one paw up for defense and the rest of her senses alert.
Egyptia's eyes went from a warning to surprise, if the other lioness wanted to pounce her, this first moment as she took in how Ceas looked would be it.

Ceas tensed. The other female had moved so swiftly, it had honestly scared her. Her ears twitched, her flakes tickling her neck as they swayed. What would be the best route to avoid violence?
"H-hello," she attempted to speak with confidence, but failed. She couldn't tell if this female was hostile or not.

Egyptia sniffed the air, trying to get a feel of this funny lioness, "Hello." She looked her up and down again, then slowly lowered her defensive paw. "Did you snarl? I didn't."
She wouldn't admit it aloud, but she wasn't sure if she was more startled or confused. She'd heard a snarl, she saw something weird, was now being greeted, and... Well, was this other lioness a threat or not? Perhaps it hadn't been her to make the sound?

Ceas's muscles, if possible, tensed even more. What would the lioness think if she admitted to the fact that she had snarled? She decided she really didn't care.
"Well, if we're the only two here, and you didn't snarl, I guess that means it must have been me, correct?" Her tail twitched irritably. She relaxed, a smirk resting on her face. She noticed that it took the other female roughly 6.784 seconds to reply before, give or take a thousandth of a millisecond. The smirk faded, a smile replacing it. She loved to think about time. Estimating time was her favorite thing to do.

"Well, whatever for?" Egyptia's deep voice rumbled with irritation now. "Did you step on something, or did I offend you by standing in your path? It's not wise to challenge someone unnecessarily."
Egyptia's tail swished. The only thing that held her back from jumping before the other lioness could now was the odd facial expression. She'd started as if she was just asking for a fight, but then suddenly went into this weird, blissful sort of smile. What on earth? Was she demented enough to already be reveling in a victory that wouldn't happen? Perhaps was she trying to make amends or something?
Not knowing made Egyptia even more irritated, there was very little she disliked more than being in a confused limbo.

"I could smell you, but not see you. I figured you were, somehow, hiding, planning an attack. I reacted as such. Wouldn't you?" Ceas raised an eyebrow. "Wouldn't that be threatening?"
Ceas's grin was gone. She started noting certain things the opposing lioness did. 1.72 seconds or lower per swish of the tail. Breaths at about 1.12 seconds per inhale, 2.48 seconds exhale. Ceas found this weird. Her own breaths, normally, were at 1.45 seconds inhale, 3.26 seconds exhale. Perhaps this differed per lion. She hadn't met many, so she really didn't know. She fought the urge to smile again, and failed. A small grin bubbled up to the surface. Ahh, time was so wonderful...

"That depends. Are we speaking about living on my own territory or wandering into another's? I suppose I would feel guilty enough wandering into someone's territory unannounced to react with opposition to smelling another lion. I wouldn't snarl though. Snarling suggests attack, and you don't know how many others are here that will come running to my aid. Next time, come onto another's territory with a better sense of what position you've put yourself in."
Egyptia doubted that this odd lioness could think that well. She seemed to be mentally stunted one way or another, if her funny little facial expressions meant anything. Just where did she get off with having all that weirdness about her?

Ceas dug her nails into the dirt. "Well, sorry that I am cautious. Sorry that I have to walk through your territory to get to my destination, and so-o-o-o-rry that my snarl scared you. It's called an automatic reaction," she rolled her eyes. She no longer viewed the female as a threat.
"Oh, and by the way," Ceas said, turning around with a flick of her tail, "1.12, 2.48. Your breathing seems rushed, but I'm not ever near you, so I don't know, but it appears that you are angered, worried, or scared." With that, she began to walk off slowly.
