I HATE HATE HATE when they translate books into movies and get things wrong.
Harry Potter movies are fine, they go along with the story for the most part. They may have minor details missing here and there but major things are kept.
Stephen King, he MAKES SURE that the movies from his books are the way he likes it. Now if only every other author could do the same thing (then again he does have a creepy personality to him)
I finally watched Twilight (I could go on ranting on what's wrong with how they made Twilight forever)
Main point of this is- STICK TO THE DANG STORY LINE!!!!
Twilight -No, she was not going to Jacksonville, she was going to Seattle -She didn't meet the family when they were cooking food for her -Edward has a couch in his room, he was supposed to tackle her to it and either Rosalie or Alice was supposed to walk in on them. -When the hell did they climb up trees? I mean, it's a good scenery and all but that's just a waste of money with the stunt devils and the shooting to see them in the trees must of used helicopters. The couch was one of the best scenes in the book and THEY TOOK IT OUT. And that was pointless too because the couch scene wouldn't have been that much money compared to climbing trees.
Anne Rice The Vampire Chronicles -Lestat's eyes are BLUE -Lestat was NOT made by Marius
Now, I haven't watched a lot of movies, in fact, you'd be dumbfounded by how much I HAVEN'T seen (another rant for another time) but I always hear the same complaints when they make movies from books all the time.
Now if there were people like me making movies, the main point is, WE'D STICK TO THE STORY LINE (plus we'd pay attention to every little detail).
Rant done =]

The Harry Potter movies are darn close and so amazing. I have no complaints.
Stephen King movies are amazing too. They do follow closely to their original stories.
I'm still reading the first book of Twilight and I instantly notice when things are different from what I had seen in the movie. Especially how they discussed he's a vampire for the first time. They made it more exciting for the movie, but definitely not how the author wrote it. I do however still like the movie regardless of the many differences. It's just a little strange and confusing is all.
As for Anne Rice...the books are very long and detailed. There is no way they could fit all of the stories in, let alone get all of the details right. Although I haven't read them all and was not aware that Lestat had a different maker. From what I'm told, those two stories are told from their own points of view and it's discovered much later on in the book series that they both (Lestat and Louie) lied...A LOT! For all intensive purposes though, they had to keep with the lies as to compliment the books. Now if only they would put all of the rest to film.
What a real massacre was from book to film (if you ever wish to witness one of the worst) was Midnight Mass. Read the book and then go through the torturous massacre that was the movie adaptation and you will understand. It blows the Twilight and Vampire Chronicle mess ups right out of the water and into space. No joke. It really is that bad.
Other good ones include: Sleeping With the Enemy, The Note Book and A Walk to Remember. The books are always better though. Even if just by a little bit. ^_~

I didn't like the movie, the make-up was done poorly for Robert Pattinson and Kristen was almost monotone throughout the whole movie. Great scenery, it's just that I think the other characters outshines the main ones.
Aw crud they lied a lot? Sheesh, that's confusing. Leave it to Anne Rice to do that xD In the beginning of The Vampire Lestat he says that some guy that called him Wolf Killer and search the world for him changed him and left him a huge place with tons of gold and stuff. Ah, I should try finishing the books series...
Ugh, that sounds bad....
I'll have to check those books out sometime *has never watched The Notebook*
