Eki Ate Festival
Hay kids. Thanks to Cheerios tying me up in her dominatrix outfit and beating me for several hours and doing other… untoward things, I finally caved in and guess what. Iwa got a 4th of July…ish party.
Quote: Hundreds of years of bloodshed and carnage have scared the world and left their mark everywhere. No place was immune to these scared places however, every scar will eventually heal. While not completely gone, it can be forgotten. War is much like this and, through determination and skill, Iwagakure has surpassed this and come to be a new place of dedication and peace. This is a celebration to all those who were lost to the scars of time.
The land of Iwa is ripe with all manor of food and drink as it celebrates the Eki Ate(War’s End) Festival. All participants may post in this thread and this is counted in a different timeline from the rest of your RP so feel free to do different things here. All rewards gained here may be applied to your character after any current events/missions your on.
If you feel the thread is too crowded, you may take the event your participating in to different threads, just make sure you post that it is a part of the Eki Ate festival so as not to confuse anyone.
Have fun and enjoy!
Events: Opening Events: Location: Base of Kage Tower Free Food, drink and a lively atmosphere with plenty of party favors and celebration items littering the street will greet any and all that wish to travel the streets. In the center of it all will be the Kage Tower where a few words and a moment of reflection shall be had for those that have fallen in battle not just through war but in the protection of the place they loved. It's suppose to be read by the kage but...
Music Festival: Location: Village The streets are alive with music and fun. Going on through the entirety of the event, there will always be music in the background so you might want to drop in or have your character mention it.
600 Years of History: Iwagakure vs. Konohamaru: Location: Shi Platue A play set to display the war between Konoha and Iwagakure over 600 years ago. The play has always been a huge success not because of how it's written but the adlibbing of the audiance pulled actors. The outcome is almost never the same. [If you'd like to participate, IM me with which one of your characters wants to participate.]

During the times of war, many students of the academy were battle trained. One of the trainings was what would seem like a mere game of tag only a bit more deadly. What on earth's going on...?
Stopping shortly from his walk Shin blinked, once, twice...looking rather confused at the colorful state of the village. Not much of a surprise, really, considering Iwa had gone colorful from time to time ever since that Taida Marcus held the Kage seat. He shrugged, before resumed his nonchalant pace - only to be bowled over by a gang of kids...
...trying to stab each other...?
"Hey hey look!" Said the first, a small boy with most of his head shaved save a dark spot in the middle...
"Onii-chan play tag with us!" Said another, holding up a gleaming kunai knife.
Shin held forth his hands, palms faced towards the children, head shaking - near frantically. "Um...no thanks...I am in a..." Sensing danger, Shin rolled aside, avoiding what appeared to be a decapitation aim... The Hyouton prince sweatdropped before scowling... Why, these brats! "I'm a shinobi of this village, in case you brats didn't notice!! What constitutes this attack - ...!" But he was cut off, smoothly dodging another kid trying to stab him with a kunai.
What on earth...?
"I don't have time to play..." Scowling, he quickly formed a handseal, disappearing in a puff of smoke.
"He...he's getting away! After the onii-chan!!"
---
Elsewhere in the village, Shinratsu materialized, sighing. What on earth was the Kage up to this time? Last time he checked...honestly...assaulted by a gang of Academy Students...? That was...
"Would you like to purchase a mask, son?"
The boy looked up.
He had just come to a stand selling...festival masks... Staring at the Kitsune mask, he was vaguely reminded of one particular other...it was painted a pale white, near tinted just barely blue...crimson decorated the inside of the ears and painted red lips, a hint of rogue at the eyes and yellow orbs...
"That one." He said, pointing at the Kitsune mask. He reached for his coin pouch and counted out five ryo. He briefly wondered if perhaps Princess Elruda would find these curious...but perhaps she'll like the present.
After all, she really did remind him of a playful kitsune. Mischievous, and trouble making...but still...still...as boyish as she may act and dress, undoubtedly, she had a certain charm and beauty curiously expressed - augmented - in her own odd ways...

Kae walked the brightly lit streets. All the while smiling. The crowd bustled around him and people laughing and joyous bumped him from all around. He couldn't contain himself, the tall boy let giggles escape through his mask of coolness. The wonderful village lit the sky like an aurora borealis. Without his even knowing, his hair became a bright orange with highlights of yellow. His eyes danced with the same color. The amazement growing in his heart.
Stepping up to a large stall with it's back wall stacked with masks to the ceiling. He didn't have any money to buy one but that didn't matter the sight was something that he had never seen before. In the world Iwagakure certainly was his home. He noticed a boy white light hair and a generally bleak aura. "This is really something fantastic, do you know the occasion?" he said calmly letting his hair fade to a simple tint of yellow so that he appeared very blond.

Shadow looked to his left and right with a giant grin on his face. He was especially fond of parties and celebrations. He walked through the streets with his hands in his pockets, looking around observing all the events that were going on. There was cheery music in the background and kids running about trying to stab one another in a game of ninja tag. He quickly noticed them setting up a stage for a play featuring the Konoha-Iwa war which his face lit up at. The shinobi he worshiped was a part of that war, and though he knew the chances of him getting that role were very small, he still lit up at the chance to act in the play. He ran up the stage, vaulting himself over a few stands to get in front of the building.
Hey! What would it take to act in the play? You know you need an authentic Konoha shinobi, don't you? He grinned cheerfully, reaching into his pocket to flash his Konoha headband. The man frowned at him, obviously displeased that he was interrupting setup.
Turn in a form over there, then they'll consider you. The man pointed over to a little stand with a stack of papers and pens. Shadow thanked the man and ran over, quickly filling out a form and turning it in, crossing his fingers at getting let into the play. As he finished writing he heard children talking about how they were playing an archery game and trying to beat each others high scores. Shadow smiling at the chance to get to practice archery (and crush the dreams and scores of a few small children) quickly dashed towards the badlands where the event was apparently taking place.
As he ran he cut through two kids talking, both seemed about five years younger than him, which struck Shadow as funny since the way he was running from event to event it made it seem as though he was five years younger than them. As he cut through the blonde haired kid and the white haired kid he simply said Scuse' me! Things to do! He wondered for a moment if he would see any of his friends at the carnival, and if he would get a chance to make some new ones. It was all a mystery to him, however what he did know is he had some archery to do!

Shadow ran into the badlands and quickly spotted the archery range. He dashed with lightning speed and reflexes however quickly slid to a halt right outside. It was a podium with a ton of plaques nailed onto it. Each one of them had a name, and a date, listing how long they lived. Next to each was also a painted picture of the man or woman holding some form of ranged weapon, or making some incredible shot. It was to honor all of the people who had provided cover from afar to their team mates. Shadow put his hands together and took a deep respectful bow, which was a slow in his pace however that didn't matter to him. He respected these men and women, and would gladly halt his momentum in their respects. After his prayer he walked into the range, there were both kids and adults taking shots. The kids were sniping sleeping scorpions from afar, he grinned as the arrows pierced into the wood, which would make the scorpion shake but not wake. The adults were shooting running scorpions, and a few people were even taking shots at the ones that were raging around destroying rocks and thrashing about.
Hey can i play? Shadow asked a man. He smiled and handed him a bow with three arrows, Shadow took them gladly and walked to the edge of the range. He looked about until he saw his target, a pissed off scorpion that was lifting a rock over its head. He strung the first arrow and took careful aim. His cheerful look was wiped completely from his face, he was only showing an intense seriousness. As he took careful aim, he breathed deeply and shot.

For a brief moment the rock was lifted above the target, and in that brief moment Shadow let go of the string. With a twang the arrow fired much like a lightning bolt, and in a moment it was sunk into the middle of the target. However the beast was to angry to even notice, it hurled the rock and then went to fight another scorpion who Shadow guessed had invaded its territory. a few of the kids pointed at him admiring his shot, even some adults were impressed. One of the people running the event smiled and set one ryo, and some shuriken and kunai next to Shadow. Shadow could hardly notice though, he was in the zone. One of the only things he enjoyed more then archery, was moving at high speeds. And women of course, but that was a given. Shadow grabbed his second arrow and strung it once again. He watched as the beast thrashed about, waiting patiently for his opening. The two beasts were in a grapple, and in a moment they were rolling on the ground. Shadow saw his shot. Looking with solid determination he let go of the string once again, sending the arrow to find its mark on the scorpion.

The arrow once again launched with lightning speed and deadly accuracy, however this time it wasn't in the dead center, however it did land in the ring right next to the bullseye which prompted the man next to him to place another ryo and a few more kunai and shuriken. Shadow sighed however, it was by no means a bad shot, however it wasn't his best shot which saddened him. By now more children were watching in awe, as well as a few of the adults. The other ones of shinobi class just smiled and nodded, they knew that Shadow was by no means the best marksmen, however they respected his ability. However, they continued with their shots unlike the children who were all waiting to see if he could make another bullseye. Shadow grabbed his last arrow, and pulled back on the string looking right at the enraged scorpion. It was winning its fight, scaring the other scorpion off. Shadow grinned at this pissed off beast, wondering of the consequences of hitting it. He also wondered how they managed to get it on such an angry giant creature. It didn't matter right now, all that mattered was the shot. He took one last deep breath, and released his final arrow.

The last arrow shot through the air, however it was even more off then his other shots, it didn't hit anywhere near the target, luckily it didn't hit the scorpion. Instead it hit the outer rim of the target. The man placed less kunai and shuriken, and didn't give him any ryo this time. The adults were less impressed and went back to their business and the kids clapped happily before running back to shoot and compete with one another. The man grinned giving Shadow his prize and said
That's a shame, you were close to a maximum score! Try again later today Shadow broke his serious look with a happy grin, squinting his eyes in a cheery manner like he usually did. Yeah, definitely! He grabbed the kunai and fastened them to his belt, and handed back the shuriken. He never used shuriken anyways. He did take the few ryo he got also before leaving the range. He paced back to town wondering what to do next. He listened to the cheery music and decided it was necessary for him to dance for a while. He ran over to a place where villagers and lovers were all moving around, he shrugged a little saddened that he didn't have anyone he knew to dance with right now, but that didn't matter. He began to move his body happily to the music, just dancing for the hell of it until he decided on doing something else.

[[Yea! Everyones enjoying the events! Since this is a week long festival, if you have any ideas for events/games/etc, please let me know.]]
"Where is he? He's late?" A pissed Yoko paced back and forth behind the stage of the opening ceremony. While a large portion of the events and games had already started, the official festival hadn't started as the Kage hadn't given his opening statements. Of course, no one actually expected Marcus to show up to perform his duty but still, they had to give a reasonable amount of time for him to botch this up.
Yoko wasn't at all pleased as she was being forced to wear traditional Iwagakure kimono. She hated wearing it but the Council had... insisted upon it.
"Give it a rest... this is Marcus. He probably is off goofing off somewhere. We'll just kill a bit more time here and then the Council will get fed up and have to do the ceremony themselves." Getsue added in with a sigh. She was noticiably more comfortable in the kimono as she sat perfectly still at the back of the room. A cup of tea rose to her lips as she sipped it in utter peace. For having such a shaded past, she was sometimes the very definition of a proper lady.
"Yea well he needs to hurry up! How dare those old bastards make me wear this stiff piece of s**t. Don't they know how much I HATE these things. I should go and burn all of them to a crisp." Yoko began to fidget witht he kimono, trying to get at least a little more room in it.
A plum of smoke appeared behind the room. Stepping from the back was the amazon known as Morde. She, as her two companions, was drapped in a kimono that she... altered to fit her more. She had ripped off everthing below the thigh. She came up and loked to the two and sighed, "Nothin.. when he doesn't want to be found, you ain't findin him."
Getsue sighed and lowered her head a bit. She would soon rise and then begin to move to the curtain, "Very well... well shall have to tell the people..."
Soon a chime played from a guitar they would be familiar with. The chime came from beyond the curtain. There was also a hush over the crowed outside. The three women moved to the curtain and stuck their heads out.
Sittin upon the pre-determined pedistal was Marcus in the pants and hat of the Kage. He had his guitar in hand and looked over to the three and winked then motioned for them to come out and join the 4th of their party. The puppet master sat in the back in her usual black garb. She would raise the mask only slightly and a smile adorned her pale skin, "I found Marcus. He bought me ice cream."
Marcus looked to his friends then out to the Audience. He waved a bit and smiled.
"Howdy everyone. For those of you that don't know. I'm Taida Marcus, your Tsuchikage. I know a lot of you have issues with the way I run... or don't run things but for right now, lets not think about that and just do what we came to do: respect those that fought and died so that we can enjoy the peace we have today." there was a low hum that was broken by clapping.
Marcus soon began to speak of the history of Iwagakure from conception to war, to turmoil and hostil takeovers to lost leaders and finally to this day. This was the opening ceremony.

Kae turned his attention toward the Tsuchikage. He had never known him to be a historian. the boy felt a little grim, hearing about all the horrible things that had happened and all the people that had died, but that seemed to be why they were here. He turned back to the boy he had tried to talk to. "I guess that answers my question. C ya later." He let his hair set back into it's brilliant orange and yellow, before stepping out into the crowd. Finding his way through the village were music was blasting out into the streets. Kae smiled broadly and let himself start to bob to the music as he went, soon in what was the middle of a dancing crowd. He moved forward. People brushed past him, color flaring up all around him. His walk through the festival was so gloriously beautiful he could barely contain his soul from bursting out and feeling the air with electricity.

"Sir..." Said Shinratsu cautiously to the stand owner. "Just out of curiosity, but...what's this one for?" Now that he had a good chance to look around seeing as that there aren't crazy children after him with kunai...it seemed way too elaborate for an impromptu festival... Many of the people passing him were in formal kimonos or yukatas...and...was it just his imagination or is he seeing more shinobis out than usual in this time of the day? It looks almost like everyone is present... Which would be rare for a shinobi village, considering that running missions after all is the very breath and livelihood of a shinobi village's economy...
The mask stand owner was placing tissue paper into a decorated box and for extra protection, was wrapping the mask itself in tissue paper as well. To the boy's question, however, he raised an eyebrow. "Hm, you don't know?" But looking at the child carefully now and noticing that despite the Iwa shinobi headband the child bore, such pale hair and eyes were unorthodox in this part of the continent. "Ah...you must be a foreigner then."
Shin nodded. "Yes. I came from Kirigakure no Sato."
"Oho." Said the old man. "Now that's quite far indeed...well, this is a celebration to honor the fallen heroes of war...ironic as it is, one of the nations we have fought in the past are present to celebrate with us..." The shopkeeper chuckled. "You could call it a memorial day of sorts...or rather perhaps better yet, a liberation day..." He handed the box to the child.
"Studied the Civil War yet?"
A soft smile lit his features. "...yeah..." Shin murmured, taking the box with gratitude. "...it's a nice idea..." His voice trailed off, and he looked thoughtful. "...celebrating the dead's sacrifice, I mean...they no longer have a present or future...but we can still honor their past..."
"It is." Agreed the old shopkeeper. "For someone special...?" He asked, with a sly smile to the child, gesturing to the box now in the boy's arms.
He returned the smile. "Heh...I guess you could say that...?" Before Shin left the stand, he gave a small bow - a simple inclination of the head out of courtesy. "Well then...I'll be going now sir. ...dōmo arigatō..."

In his walk through the village, Shin wondered what the bags suspended in the air was for... Interested, he stopped shortly, watching as one of the kids around his age threw a few shuriken at the rope. With a snap, the bag fell free from the rope holding the others and with a dull th-ump, collided with the ground. He watched, as the kid and his friends, looking excited, clamored around the bag and opened it...
Approaching closer, his sharp hearing caught broken words of their conversation. Shin raised an eyebrow. War trophy? Must be a recreational activity...then...this and that earlier...the children trying to stab him... So basically, they were creating war games. Well...not really that but Shin assumed - it was a holiday of sorts after all - to offer a demure perspective of war, making it enjoyable for the children who do not know the horrors...
Choosing one bag as target, he quietly slipped out two shuriken and holding one in each hand, Shinratsu aimed one hand at one side of the rope and the other hand at the other side. With a gentle flick of his wrist, he cast the first throw, and then the second following near immediately afterwards.

The first throw severed the rope - well almost, save for a few strands. The second throw completely cut the other side free and the bag fell plummeting towards the ground, the force of gravity tearing it free from the near-completely broken side of the rope. Tucking the mask's box under his arm, Shinratsu caught the falling bag. He gently placed the mask box on the ground for the moment, freed one of his shuriken still stuck to the rope, and cut open the binding. Hm...exploding tags and soldier pill... Replacing his shuriken back in his holster, he took the soldier pill and placed it into his pouch before taking the exploding tags and placing it in another pouch suspended by his double belts. Taking up the mask box again, he resumed his walk.

One big huge family that takes care of each other. She saw that her icey friend was finished with one of the games that Iwagakure had out today. "Heya, Shin-Shin-kun!" She walked up to Shinratsu and looked at the game that she was interested in playing."War trophies eh...?" It's weird...Being a native to Iwagakure, she never went to the festivals her village had due to taking care of her sick mother. But she seems to be better now that she could take care of herself and she has friends to enjoy the festival with. Diggign into her item pouch, she would gather three shurikens to cut the bags with. "one...two...Three!" She threw them at ropes holding the bags to get the goodies that was inside the bags.

[[haha isn't that the greatest thing ever to get a 20 on? ]]
Shadow moved and swayed his hips in a more entrancing fashion then he knew he was capable of. The way that he moved and danced to the rhythm of the music captured the attention of many of the villagers who pointed at him. He grinned happily, wishing that he wasn't holding his weapons on him, since his lack of a headband made him appear as a normal villager, however the ninjato on his back was his give away at being a ninja. As he finished his dance he stopped and looked at one of the kids next to him. His hair was orange, however his face looked exactly like one of the boys he cut off earlier. He wanted to return to the archery event, however this boy was just much to peculiar. He reached over and tapped his shoulder asking
errrr, excuse me. Do you have a brother or sibling? If so could you tell them sorry for cutting them off earlier.... Aaaand yeah...
