It is dark, and hard to see, the sun if it is still out is blocked by the dense foliage, it is replaced by an almost eerie glow. Vines hang all around and there is the distinct sound of locusts buzzing in the area. Though not in a large enough amount to be worrisome, or to have a large effect on the plants in the area. There are sounds both distant and near, or smaller animals, some making normal grunting noises, and some giving out their last death rattle as they fall prey to some bigger animal. It is a chilling place in this part of the jungle, and if it weren't for her golden stripes, one may not have been able to see the black lioness slinking through the over grown bushes, careful not to step in any thorn patches.
Yaretzi liked this part of the jungle, it was cool and it was dark, two things she didn't get to experience much of in the Savannah. Her eyes glowed in the dark almost as she made her way around trees, and avoided the low hanging vines. Her eye sight might be good in the dark, but it was even hard for her to differentiate between a vine and a snake some times, and it would be a shame if she were to die because some snake had gotten a hold of her.
She bared her fangs at a small set of eyes she saw in some nearby bushes and smiled to herself as she listened to it scurry away. Her back bracelets were jingling and she wasn't necessarily sure if she should be concerned about that. The air in this part of the jungle was thick and humid, it seemed to trap all of the scents that had come through here. She couldn't tell which ones were new and which one's were old. She did however know that she could smell a lion in the mix.
Yaretzi didn't like that fact. Not because there was a lion close by, but because she couldn't tell how close he really was. IT set her on edge, made her a little jumpy. Her ears slicked back and then moved forward as she at least tried to listen for the tell tale noises of a large predator.

The lioness was not the only one who liked the very darkest part of the Jungle. Lay in a small ditch not too far from where the lioness stood was Ovu. He was a huge fan of this area, although it was for very different reasons, most of which would become clear soon enough.
The ditch was thick with what appeared to be a disgusting mix of dirt and blood. There were insects crawling all around it, and yet not a single one of them dared venture on to the body of the lion that was lay there. It was as if they knew that there was something truely wicked about that creature, and it just wasn't worth the risk of going anywhere near it. Instead, they swarmed around the thing that Ovu was clutching in his paws.
Bloodshot eyes stared out into the darkness as the scent of the lioness reached Ovu's nose. Her scent wasn't all that strong, and mixed with the stench of death that surrounded the lion, it was a mystery as to how he could smell her at all. He could though, and that was all he needed to bring a sick grin to his face. He would have something new to play with, which meant he could throw the old toy away.
Without so much as a second thought, Ovu tossed the thing he had been clutching out of the ditch. It was a small body, completely ripped to shreds to the point where it was almost unrecognisable. As it hit the ground with a thud, insects poured from its mouth, and the various holes in its body. It was the body of a lion cub, and it had been mutilated.

((I know I probably shouldn't have laughed when I read the lion cub bit... but I did... D: does that make me a bad person???))
Yaretzi knew where he was then, she'd heard him.. or something landing on the ground. The sound seemed far enough away, but not far enough for her. She looked around her, not calling out, or demanding the lion show them self, she wasn't a fool. She continued walking, not changing her pace, trying her damnedest to go unnoticed. The thud she had heard hadn't been a very heavy one, so hopefully the male had already eaten? Maybe he would be to satisfied with his meal to bother with her.
Yaretzi silently thanked whatever god it was that watched over her for having her come through here when she wasn't in heat, she would have been found for sure. She looked up towards the tree's wondering if it would be better to climb into the branches, they looked thick enough to hold her weight, and close enough together for her to actually travel on.
Wondering to herself on what kind of a lion would stalk around these parts of the jungle, Yaretzi realized she'd rather not think of it. Not that she was scared, no, she was just, apprehensive. She could fight off any Lion, and she had the scars to prove it, but it was becuase of those scars that she was wary of a fight. She lowered her body, hoping to blend in with the dark, not wanting to bare her fangs in case and of the light were to reflect off of them and make her stand out. She silently cursed her ankle bracelets. She'd been so proud of them, they were a sign of her first kill, an adult male lion.
Yaretzi had been going along quite well, until suddenly, a spider web 'jumped at her', she walked right into it. Completely forgetting the fact that she was trying to be stealthy she let out a startled yowl, pawing at her face, trying to get the silk web off and out of her skin. Praying to the gods above that the spider wasn't also in her hair.

(( XD; I think I'm a bad person for having wrote it in the first place. *Fail* ))
Ovu raked his claws through the bloody mud in front of him before getting to his feet. He stretched out each leg individually and then let out a long but silent yawn. Apparently he had long since become bored of his previous toy, as his body language suggested that he just wanted to go to sleep once he had finished stretching. The expression on his face showed different though.
The sick grin had remained, and once he had finished getting ready, he leapt from the ditch in one swift movement. Despite the fact that his coat was mostly red, it camouflaged him quite well at this time of day, when the sun was setting and everything was bathed in a dim red glow. The fact that he had been in a ditch helped too, as dirt and blood now caked his coat, making him even more difficult to spot.
Standing there with his head held high, he sniffed the air. His ears rolled back and forth on his head as he attempted to locate the lioness. For a moment, he feared that she may not be close enough for him to locate, but then he heard something that pushed all that worry aside. He had heard a scream. Content that he now knew just where she was, the large red lion quickly made his way in her direction, not caring whether or not his approach was noisy.

((We'd only be bad people if I hadn't been around for the baby eating conversation in the first place <3 ))
She'd wasted a good four to five minutes by simply rubbing at her hair and stumbling along as fast as she could, not looking up to see where she was going, running into trees and scraping her fur against the bark. But Yaretzi's little panic attack quickly came to an end when she could hear him coming through the underbrush, and fast. She looked around, wondering what the chances of her bolting and being able to get away were. From all of the vines, not many.
She twisted her body, towards the direction from which she was sure he was quickly approaching, preparing herself for the worse. Legs bent, ready to spring and claw is she had too. Her ears were forward, straining, trying to figure out just how close this lion was to her. She was certain he'd heard her, everything in the jungle had heard her, what was worse, it seemed as if the entire jungle had suddenly become deathly quiet, except for the sound of what Yaretzi still believed to be a Lion, heading towards her at a deadly pace.
She looked back up at the trees again, wondering what would happen if she attempted to jump to the nearest branch. It wasn't so close to the ground as she would have liked, and in this light, her depth perception with heights was slightly off. So instead, she turned back to the approaching form, stock still, and ready to fight if need be.

(( XP; Indeed. ))
Ovu loved a good chase. If anything, he hoped that she would've ran, so that at least this part of the game could go on for longer. Instead though, she had stopped, and was bravely ready to face whatever was coming her way. He admired that, and so, he decided that he would give the female a sporting chance once he had reached her. In the male's twisted mind, that would be the nice thing to do.
Once he was close enough to her that he could spot her bright yellow markings through the vines and bushes, he slowed, and began stalking towards her. He hadn't planned on sneaking up on her, as he loved to see the reactions on the faces of others when they saw him for the first time. No, this was all part of his little game, and he would reveal himself soon enough.
He was close now, close enough so that she would be able to spot him if she looked hard enough. He decided that he would help her to see him, so he moved towards a shaft of red light that had fought its way through the treetops. Ovu simply moved to put his head into the light, and what an eerie sight it was. The black markings on his face resembled a skull, and because the red of his coat matched the red of the sun's light, it looked as if the black skull was just floating in the air all by itself.

Truth be told, Yaretzi was scared, but she'd spent her whole entire life having to fake that, having to fight through the fear, and having to put on a front that she was bigger and badder and scarier than anything that wanted to hurt her. When she saw the skull coming towards her, and simply stopping their, floating, she knew she was in for something bad. She'd met Lions and other big cats with skulls and skeletons before, they weren't something to trifle with. They all seemed to live for a fight as well. Yaretzi squared her shoulders and slicked back her ears, trying to look as feral and as menacing as possible. She exposed all of her teeth in as fearsome a snarl as she could produce, growling low in her throat.
She wondered how long he would stay there, in the shadows. She wondered if he would look at her and imagine that she wasn't worth the trouble? Yaretzi could smell him now, far clearer than before as a lone little stream of wind made it's way through the trees. He smelled of old blood and dirt. His fur was probably caked in mud since the dirt around here did seem to be a bit damp.
She saw a small glint, and she realized that it was the white of his eyes. She looked there then, trying to stare him down. She wasn't afraid of a fight, and she wanted him to know that.

No matter how strong and fearless she looked, Ovu knew that it was just a front. He had yet to meet anyone who hadn't been afraid of him on some level or another. Sure, there were some that were less scared than others, but they were scared regardless. This female probably wasn't as scared as most, but the blood red lion was certain that the fear was there. And all he could do was help it grow.
"Silly girl." Ovu hissed, his voice full of malice. "Do you really want to fight me?" As he said that, he moved the rest of the way out of the darkness, allowing his whole body to be bathed in the bright red light of the setting sun. It was hard to tell how much blood was on him, since his coat was practically the same colour. Even the mud that clung to his paws was a reddish shade of brown. He looked an absolute mess, but that didn't hide the fact that he was very large for a lion, and that his muscles were twitching in anticipation. He badly wanted her to run.

Yaretzi shook her head "Do you think I'm stupid enough to turn my back on you?" She laughed bitterly, still in her stance, still ready to jump, still ready to jump, still ready to go straight for his throat if the need be. "Of course I don't want a fight, I don't really have a masochistic streak in me." She did however, begin to back up. She didn't lower her body though, as if she was recognizing that he was a threat, more that she was trying to keep the distance between the two of them. And when he stepped into the light, she hissed at him. She knew, she just knew, she wasn't going to be able to walk out of here with out a scratch on her body. That was just ridiculous.
She looked him up and down, he was terrifying, she could see the stuff, a mix of blood and mud, and who knew what else. She heard a growl in her head, but she pushed that back. She wanted to be in total control of her body if she thought this was going to end up in a fight. "What's it going to take," she asked as calmly as she could possibly manage to get out, "To walk out of this situation, with the least amount of injuries? Becuase let me tell you this much, I'm not an easy target. You'll limp away with permanent damage, if not worse; if you decide to fight me." It wasn't a bluff. It wasn't just something to get out of a fight, she wasn't afraid to take on other lions, even if they were males twice her size. The scars around her body, and the teeth around her ankles were testaments to that.

When it became apparant to him that the female wasn't going to be fleeing in terror anytime soon, an almost child-like pout touched his face. "You're no fun at all are you?" His body ached for a good chase and a powerful take-down. Cubs, after all, provided no challenge whatsoever.
There was hope though, as the dark female began to back up. Grinning, Ovu matched every step she took backwards by moving one forwards. "Good girl...now, if you just turn and make a run for it, I promise I'll give you a head start." He chuckled. "Cross my heart and hope to die..."
When the lioness spoke, the blood red lion raised a brow. Well, this was new. Although many others had begged for their life before Ovu had ended it, this was the first time that someone had tried to talk him out of what he was planning to do. How amusing. "You really are as stupid as you look." He mused. "Do I look as if I'm capable of being injured?" Saying that, the dark lion turned on the spot, showing her his entire body. There didn't appear to be a scratch on him. When he turned back to face her, his blood-shot eyes widened. "I am DEATH."

She laughed at him in a voice that wasn't her own, it was a darker, richer laugh, and she pushed the thing making that sound back again into her mind. her 'inner demon' was speaking to her and she knew what she was saying was true, so she repeated it. "Death? please~ I've seen death, looked him in the eyes and spat at his face. You're not death, you're a maiming at the very most. And I can survive a maiming, I've experienced them before."
She raised an eyebrow at him and if she weren't so certain he'd attack her the moment she did it, she would have sit down and looked down her nose at him. "If I run~ and I give you a damn good chase, what will you do?"

Ovu let out a sinister laugh. "I love how you think that a maiming is an acceptable way to end the day. Who knows, maybe that would be a little bit more fun than killing you." He took another few steps forward, his blood-shot eyes dancing over the female's body. "You're quite beautiful. Has anyone ever told you that?" Although what he said was genuine, it still sounded very nasty coming from him.
Grinning, he continued to get closer. "A pretty girl like you should be quite used to getting chased. Now, if I were to chase you...lets see..." His voice drifted off and a somewhat thoughtful expression appeared on his face. "If I were to chase you, I would take you down as hard as I could. And then, since you're not really a big fan of death, I think I would show mercy." When he said that, a wicked grin touched his maw. "I think I'd just have my way with you and leave it at that."

(I think this is the scariest most "OH MY GOD WHATS GOING TO HAPPEN NEXT?" Rp XD )
Yaretzi glared at him when he said that. She'd been told it before; she just didn't like the way he said it. She'd heard that tone before and to be honest it unnerved her. She bared her teeth at him and tensed up a bit more. "Most males know better than to chase me." She told him as she began to slowly turn her body to better take off and start to run. Her bracelets along her back legs shining dimly in the light. She moved away from him slowly; never taking her eyes off of him.
"I've fought off males twice your size and made them regret it. What makes you think that I won't be a match for you? What makes you think you'll be able to 'have you way with me'?" Her voice took on a deeper tone as she growled out to him. "Don't cross me boy; I was bargaining becuase I simply wasn't in the mood for a chase; for a fight. But I will make you regret every thought you've ever had of me. And I will do it with a smile."

Ovu chuckled sarcasticly. "Oh my, I'm so scared." Then suddenly, his face changed completely, and his expression was darker than ever. "Your words mean nothing to me. There is a BIG difference between words and actions. Now, I'll give you just five seconds to make a run for it." He grinned. "If you don't make it fun to me, I'll be rather upset. You wouldn't want to upset me would you?"
He then sat himself down. "I'm never usually so generous, so you should count yourself lucky." His tail whipped violently from side to side. "Are you ready? Five...four..."

'run now~' The voice in her head said in almost sing song sort of a way. It was rare for that voice to look put for her, or tell her to run away from a fight; so when it did... Yaretzi took off like a bat out of hell; swerving and crisscrossing through trees as if it were plain day light out; her eyes having adjusted just a bit better; but it still didn't stop branches and vines from catching along her pelt; ripping at her fur here and there. Nothing devastating; just enough to make her bleed; enough to leave a trace.
It was still quiet where she was; and it felt as if her heart and her breathing would give her away; not from fear but from the adrenaline pumping through her body. She had the sincere thought of jumping into a tree and trying to hide it out from there but she knew she was dripping blood and if she did that, then she'd just be a sitting duck.
Yaretzi gulped and tried to push her body a bit further; she was thirsty suddenly and she was afraid that she might dehydrate before he got to her. Oh wouldn't that be a wonderful way to die? not becuase you weren't fast enough but becuase you were thirsty. She opened her mouth slightly and began to breath in the moist air; it wasn't as moist as what it had been back there and she hoped that meant she was starting to come out of this hell hole of a jungle. She closed her eyes for a moment; praying she was going to make it out fairly unharmed.
