It was a cool day, which was strange for tropical Ista Weyr. The sky was clear, save for huge, white clouds rolling on the horizon. A gentle breeze wafted through the Weyr, bringing with it the strong smell of the ocean. Kella took a deep breath and smiled. "Oh, that's good," she said quietly as she exhaled. She loved being able to call the island-bound Weyr her home. She wrapped her arms around herself, pulling the sleeves of her light sweater down over her hands. Despite the sweater, Kella was also wearing shorts and gladiator-style sandals.

Being in the Bowl prevented the breeze from bringing the temperature down too much, so Kella was quite comfortable. Inside of a bag slung around her elbow was some fresh fruit, and a sandwich. Somehow, Kella had managed a reprieve from what usually were non-stop chores! But after working herself especially hard over the past couple sevendays, to prove to the kitchen staff that she could be a good girl and easy to get along with, they'd seen fit to send her on her way after a half day's work. They'd packed her up a lunch and waved her out of the kitchens, refusing to listen to her arguments. "They really do need me to get everything done," Kella huffed under her breath as she sat, leaning up against a rock in a patch of sun. But, she couldn't complain.

As she bit into her sandwich, she glanced in the direction of the candidate barracks. It had been weird to move back into them and settle in all over again. She'd stood several times before- all without any luck, obviously. Kella frowned momentarily, then shoved the frown away. She was done wasting time lamenting. She'd DEFINITELY never Impress if she wasn't confident! Since returning to the barracks, Kella had immersed herself in her chores and responsibilities. She made a mental note to take some time to get to know the rest of the candidates- not now. Maybe after her sandwich.
