(( Shaitani, owned by Bluefire Dragonz ))
Oblivious to the turmoil she left behind and the broken little life she had hidden in a hole somewhere, Shaitani drifted like a wraith between the tall, twisted trees of the jungle. Her paws followed no path the eye could see, wandering instead in a great serpentine line that wove and doubled back at seeming random. There was no way to tell what she following, if she even was, or why she had such a dreamy look on her face.
The little leech hummed as she padded along, skulls bouncing around her neck. Her voice was eerie and thin, red eyes wide and staring in her slack-jawed face. "Where oh where has my little toy gone..." She crooned before falling back into humming again. As the moon rose above the tangled branches, a light breeze ruffled them, sudden shafts of light striking off the white of her coat, making her almost glow in the darkness.

(( Bavu, owned by Cajanic ))
A voice.
Bavu wasn't sure if he had really heard that or not, but it seemed like there had been some kind of tone on the air, almost song-like. Being a guard, he knew it was in his job discription to figure out what had made the noise and to figure out if it was a threat to the pride or not. Plus, he was really curious to see what would be singing this late at night. So he ventured along the green grass, ears perked forward and claws gripping the dirt with every careful step. Moving between the trees, not in them, he came to stop, the scent of the unknown causing him to pause.
He looked forward, catching sight of something glowing faintly in between the trees. It was... quite pretty, in a creepy kind of way. "Who goes there?" he said, wanting to sound all professional in his new job.

The scrap of white disappeared the moment a voice broke through the darkness, though the off-key humming didn't. From behind the sheltering bulk of a tree, a stripped face appeared, eyes glittering as the leaves above them rustled in the wind.
"Who goes there?" Came Shai's voice, sing-song as though she was loathe to give up her melody. "Nothing.... nothing... only the wind and the dark." She broke out in a inane little giggle as she ducked back behind the three, burying her face in the leaf litter though he couldn't see that part. It was the playful Shai tonight, the little girl with the creepy voice. No guarantees though, since the violent and sadistic lioness could take center stage at a meer whim.
"Who calls, who calls? Who calls in the darkness, who is not a child of the night?" She did not know the voice she heard, so it was obviously not one of the Mwana that addressed her so.

His large black frame tensed as he watched the creature, the massive leopon standing in his best attempt at a threatening, big-man-on-campus pose. But he was still clearly knew at what he was doing, looking more like the awkward cub trying too hard than the large animal he really was.
"You're not the wind and certainly not the dark. I think I'd claim that title over you." She wass strange, but he wasn't afraid. Watching her duck away, his long tail twitched, confusion working over his expression.
"Uh... you asking who I am?" he asked faintly, arching an eyebrow, "if you are, than my name happens to be Bavu. But if I'm telling you my name, it's only fair you tell me yours. You're... not a demon, are you?" Man, he really needed to pay more attention to pride members if she was.

Another giggle broke out, and after a moment, she slunk around from the other side of the tree, coming out of cover to stare wide-eyed at the male. He looked weird, but in her broken state of mind, she didn't question how or why. His big-man stance was totally lost on her, since she was more focused on his eyes than anything else.
"I'm a child of the darkness." She whined as she crawled closer, her belly nearly dragging in the dirt and mud. Not that she'd have minded, since dirt coated her paws and dusted her stomach already. "Daughter of the night, of the Coven. You are... of my imagination!" She seemed to find the idea quite appealing and she brightened, straightening up as she grinned. "You're my new friend, aren't you? You've come to keep me company!" She bounced like a cub as she nearly tackled him, dancing around his stiff form with a flirt of her tail back and forth.
"My name is Shaitani, friend! My name means 'demon', some have said, but what do I know? I am only a worm, a leech, a pale little blood sucker." She giggled as she fell into a playful crouch, her tail lifted to sweep the air. "I am the death that stalks the darkness, under the blood red moon... taking the children and giving them dreams... as I sing my little tune!" She laughed at her little joke, the sing-song back in her voice.

"I am not!" he huffed, as though offened that she would think him something from the imagination, "I'm standing right here in front of you! How could I be from your mind if I'm really here? You can touch me and everything! But, um, please don't. I don't know if I can trust you yet." This guard thing was certainly tricky. She wasn't in the pride, so did it matter what she did? Or should he stick around and steer her away from the borders?
Maybe this space-case thing was an act of some kind. He had to stay alert.
"I can be your friend... if you'd like me to..." he barely had to get his sentence finished when she started to dance around him. Gasping, he sank his claws into the dirt, nerves getting the better of him. She was lucky he didn't take a blind swing at her, his body relaxing as he quieted down his surprise.
"That's a great name!" Bacu remarked, "Mine's Bavu. I... don't really remember what it means. I don't know the mother who gave it to me anymore." Was she even listening? He watched her, a strange smile making its way to his face. Whatever was going on in that mind, she seemed to be having a lot of fun. More than he was, that was for sure.
"Funny, you look like a lioness to me!" He replied, feeling a bit more relaxed.

When he protesting being from her imagination, she simply stared at him, her red eyes wide as his words rushed right over the top of her crazy little head. The moment he said friend, though, she forgot all about anything else and bounced up and down, laughing bright.
"Friend! Yeeeeessss..." She hissed, falling onto her stomach to wriggle and thrash around in delight. Only when he mentioned that she looked like a lioness did her thrashing about stop, the female on her back with her paws tucked into her chest peering up at him. Her face pinched in a frown of thought, but the misty brokeness refused to order itself to her whim and she was forced to let the thought go. "Shaitani is nothing, less than nothing... She is an insect scrabbling in the dark, leeching off the lives of others till she has drained them dry..." Her good mood seemed to have taken a downward turn, stillness where action had been and a dark feyness where she'd been joy before. More than just her mode of addressing herself had changed.
"Danger, danger, danger! Shaitani has killed... as drunk the blood of innocents! Life has fluttered and fallen still, crumbled and broken and torn to little shreds of red..." Her voice rose and fell from a hissing grumble to a near shreik, her body twitching and squirming on her back as she spoke.

Bavu didn't know what to make of this creature, but with a name that meant demon he wasn't about to simply dismiss her. Crazy though she seemed to be, there seemed to be some kind of meaning in her words, though perhaps more for her than for him to understand. He watched her with a sincere curiosity, captivated by the way she wiggled. The way her mood seemed to snap from one place to another in the blink of an eye. Or both eyes, as blinking one eye would actually be a wink and so not the same thing.
She was very interesting for an insane lioness. Wasn't like he was unfamiliar with them, given the pride he lived in. Nonetheless, this was the first time he had met anyone who couldn't even seem to properly order her thoughts.
He wanted to know more about her, but how could he ask her questions when she didn't care to answer them?
"I don't think you're a danger," he said carefully, "I mean, we've all killed. In our nature to, isn't it? And you're not nothing! Why do you say you're nothing?" He knew it probably wouldn't get him anywhere, but he just wanted to know. Moving a tiny bit closer, he ventured in sitting down, reclinging carefully as his eyes refused to leave her. The unstable ones were always to be watched- just in case. Her defenseless position didn't put his mind at ease, though his body was releaxed. "Is there anyone looking after you? You don't seem like you should be out on your own..."

Bavu's calm seemed to soothe the lioness and she stilled, sprawled on her back with her legs ubsurdly hanging. She twisted her head to give him a crooked sort of look, her face scowling in thought. Of course she was dangerous! She was insane, wasn't she? There was no telling who or when she would attack, and at least in body, she was deadly as any lioness. But he couldn't really be expected to know that, not with her odd behavior now.
"Shaitani is nothing because... she is nothing. She can not hunt for the Coven, cannot guard, can not be trusted with cubs... She has no mind, no soul, she only exists to sate hunger..." Her voice, thoughtful, broke into a high pitched giggle at the end, her eyes squeezed shut as she squirmed. "I wander and I creep, I glide through the shadows in the deep..." She sang, half to herself. "I lap the life and cry my pleasure, giving into the darkness..."
"No one cares where Shaitani goes, or what she does, as long as she is not in the way..." She said softly, hissing.

Bavu let his nose scrunch as he listened to her. Sounded like she didn't think very much of herself if she was so willing to call herself nothing. Having been in a position similar to that- to feeling like nothing- he felt a pang of pity for her. Another one.
"So what?" he offered with a smile, only half sure what she was going on about, "so you aren't good at any of those things- that doesn't mean you're nothing! Just means you haven't exactly found what it is you're meant to do, is all. I think you just need to find your way." Maybe she was too far gone to help, but it didn't hurt to speak anyway. Stretching his legs out in front of him, he let himself lie down, his body still far enough away from hers for him to feel just a little bit safe.
Even though he looked like he was perfectly content to be lying there nearby.
"Aw! That's a terrible thought," he mused, "no one caring about you! Well, if we're going to be friends, then I guess that's not true either. Cause I'm going to care about you now. You can't be friends with someone and not care about them, right?" He offered her a toothy grin.

Shaitani rolled over with a sudden motion when the hybrid spoke again, the softest of rumbles in her throat. Eyes wide and staring, she squirming up to put her nose nearly touching him, eyes looking into his eyes. Her gaze unmoving, she mumbled something under her breath before she finally spoke to him.
"You are a child." She rumbled. "You know nothing, and nothing. You do not know death when it stares in your face." Her body was tense now, tight and predatory. Another side to her many personalities, this one more harsh than the others, the one that helped her survive so many times in the past.
"Thoughts are broken, disjointed... bits and shattered pieces... no sense or order." She sighed as she turned away, starting to pace in a restless circle. "Who can care for one who is not whole? One who can not think, can not remember, can not be trusted... Like a ghost, a haunt, a shadow that only exists to be cast by another..."

Bavu only tilted his head to one side. He wasn't the best at knowing when to feel threatened, probably because he was so large he didn't need to feel it. The whole time he had been on guard when he didn't need to be, and now he was relaxed when he probably should have gotten up. "I'm not a child," he hummed, "though I guess I haven't been an 'adult' for very long. Not really. Maybe you're right- maybe I do have a lot to learn. But I have seen death," he watched her, his golden eyes never leaving her face. Still, he was smiling, "and I'm not afraid."
He watched as she moved away, staying on the ground though the back of his mind was yelling for him to get his a** up and show some defense.
"No one's REALLY whole," he said, "I mean, I know I'm not. I never knew my mother. How can I be whole with such a big part of my life, my reason of being, missing? Shadows can relate to each other, right? I mean, they're all part of the same darkness. You and I- we can be shadows. Friend shadows."
That sounded less dorky in his mind.

The pale lioness paused with a paw lifted and her face crumpled up as she tried to think through what he said. It was terribly hard to process it, her mind like a road full of pot holes and unexpected obstructions. More often than not, she never made it to the end.
"No one's whole?" She mused, trying to grasp it. She knew she was broken and useless, obviously, but to think that others were like her... it was just a bit too much for her. She shook her head as she sneezed, scattering her thoughts. Blinking in surprise, she turned to look at Bavu with a frown. "Friend?" She murmured, starting to look about herself, casting about as though she'd lost something.
"I... I have a shadow already..." She murmured, frowning. "Its not here... Where did it go?"

Bavu watched her, a little worried that he had said something to make her upset. He was rather enjoying the strange conversation they were having- the last thing he wanted was to make her head hurt with his idiocy.
She looked ready to explode. Luckily, a sneezed seemed to do the trick. Smiling, finding it child-like and adorable, he nodded. "Yeah, friend," he said, his confusion mounting again as she grew distracted once more.
It was certainly a roller coaster talking with her.
"We don't have to be one another's shadow," he hummed, "just shadows passing together. But have you lost someone?" He frowned, carefully getting to his feet. All this talk of shadows and animals being shadows- he wasn't really sure if she was talking about someone real or not. Without knowing what he was looking for, he turned his head about too.

There was nothing around them, adding to the distress that Shai seemed to feel. She might have been refering to another dark lion she had met, a male nearly as cracked as she was, who had played the role of her shadow come to life before they parted ways. Of course, she could have been thinking of her real shadow, the twilight around them hiding it from view. Night dwelling as she was, it'd be hard for her to ever really see her own shadow.
It was kind of Bavu though, to try to help her look, even there was nothing for him to see. He'd learn eventually, if he met her enough times, that to humor her was a waste of time and effort as she chaised things that didn't exist. Fairies and goblins, and one lioness so crazy she barely functioned. It was seemingly sheer luck that she had lived as long as she had, if you didn't take into account her sheer tenacity when threatened.
