Due to demand, I'm thinking of holding a FoJ D&D campaign.

I haven't fleshed out exactly what is in my head yet; however, if you are interested you can respond with the following information.

1. What software can you use to assist with said campaign (AIM, Ventrillo, Etc). Feel free to recommend any good programs here as well.

2. What level of play are you looking for (ie. are you looking for a game that is into the game itself with all the numbers involved, or are you just looking for a social event)?

3. What if any D&D books do you own?

4. When can you play (large blocks of time preferred 3+hours)

5. Any other information

This is just a rough open forum at the moment, but once I flesh out the idea I'll post more information.

I guess I should also ask.

6. What maturity of play are you looking for? (Ponies and unicorns vs. blood and gore and adult subjects everywhere)

sweatdrop I haven't played D&D since I was a kid, but I've 3rd edition player handbooks and a monster manual buried in my room. I'll drag 'em out tomorrow and tell you exactly what they are. I might have a DM's guide too...not sure...probably not. My dad was always DM when we played...

I only use MSN and Yahoo Messenger. I'm off for the summer, except for sporadic job searching so I've got lots of free time that I mostly spend playing Xbox live and doing chores around the house.

Also, I'm pretty sure that I don't have a lot of dice. >.>;;

Dice are pretty cheap. You can get a set of dice for about 3-5 dollars at any game store.

Brings up a good point though with dealing with dice rolls. Rolling is part of the fun, but it might be better if I just do all the rolls to ensure fidelity of the rolls.

1. What software can you use to assist with said campaign (AIM, Ventrillo, Etc). Feel free to recommend any good programs here as well.
i use trillian, since i hate installing 3 IM programs when 1 does the same s**t. thru trillian i have AIM, YIM, MSNM.

i have skype, and if others have it, or are interested in it skype.com
it's free, and you can have a group "call" i've done it before with wow guildies.

i have ventrillo too, but the problem with that is that if we don't have a server with the appropriate hack, or people who want to pay for the full server u can only have 6 people on vent at a time. (had that issue when i had my own guild)

2. What level of play are you looking for (ie. are you looking for a game that is into the game itself with all the numbers involved, or are you just looking for a social event)?
i'm looking for a game with great players (personality wise) that aren't elitests who flame u for playing a warmage (for example) i'd want to have people who know what they're talking about, or have newbies (not NOOBS) who are willing to put in the effort to learn the game, and arent' there to just fill up the "table space"

3. What if any D&D books do you own?
most if not all of 2nd edition (ad&d)
most of 3.5

4. When can you play (large blocks of time preferred 3+hours)
i have no social life XD, but i'm a night neko (instead of night owl) i'm usually up from around 8pm EST to 2pm EST every day.

5. Any other information
i hate assholes/elitists i hate stupidity (i.e. "that's what she said" after every sentance or "your mom" jokes)

6. What maturity of play are you looking for? (Ponies and unicorns vs. blood and gore and adult subjects everywhere)
i'm not a horror fan, and i have a vivid imagination (when my lvl 1 toon was killed by a lvl 20 necro because of how in depth the acting gm described what he did i was nautious for a few days cuz i saw it in my "minds eye"
however dispite the ramble, i'm more of the ladder, a mature game/player

granted this could go with 5. but meh i should put it afterwards...

my koi-kun (bf) is also itching for a good rp, he's been to foj like once or twice, but hasn't really been a big gaia goer as of late. mainly due to his work schedule, so i'll fill out these questions for him here, when he gets home from work i'll show this thread to him and teh convo in foj itself.

he also has trillian however i'm not sure if he uses AIM, or MSNM, i've only seen him use YIM
he has skype, and vent

same as my answer

3. What if any D&D books do you own?
most of 3.5

4. When can you play (large blocks of time preferred 3+hours)
he works nights, so his nights off are monday, tuesday, and thursday.
unfortunatly though his schedule can change at a moments notice.
he's up in the mornings (every day) once he gets off of work from about 8am EST, to 2pm EST

5. Any other information

6. What maturity of play are you looking for? (Ponies and unicorns vs. blood and gore and adult subjects everywhere)
he's also looking for blood/gore mature content. and he's not squimish like me XD

with AIM, there's a code to roll dice in the chat itself so there's no spoofing dice rolls

I'd love to play! blaugh To answer your questions:

1. I would personally recommend Skype as the platform to use as it supports both voice and regular keyboard chat in a multi-person room format. Someone mentioned that AIM has a built-in dice system, however.

2. I'm looking for epic adventure, laughs, a bit of sadness, and the occasional number crunch (I'm an accountant at heart, it's sad).

3. I own the 3.5 Player's Handbook, along with DragonMech (which I picked up on a whim). Given enough time I can probably get my hands onto a few other books in PDF format.

4. 1AM to 4AM Pacific Time, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday mornings. Technically I do not work on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday, but I AM on-call and get called pretty often. If we start looking at weekends, I would prefer Sunday afternoons.

5. Will edit this as I think of things.

6. I would prefer a small / tasteful about of adult humor, if possible. In addition, if given the opportunity, I often play eccentric characters (alcoholic Mages, cross-dressing Warriors, werewolves with low blood sugar issues, Psionicist's with no mental powers who STILL hear voices inside their heads, etc). Anything to spice up the game and get a few smiles. xd

Yeah, I got:

Monster Manual ver 3.5
Dungeon Master's Guide ver 3.5
Player's Handbook Core Rulebook I ver 3.5

They haven't seen much use, just been buried in my closet. sweatdrop

-hugs my complete collection of pdf's-
the real books are in a box in the bottom, and back of a storage closet (it's big enough to be a small bedroom)

I'm thinking of designing a world similar to Kino's Journey for people to play around in. For those that aren't familiar with Kino's Journey the world is a world where you could almost say every city/town is it's own "country" and each is strikingly different from the next.

So I could avoid the large campaign in favor of smaller adventures designed to specifically give certain lessons or thoughts to the players.
