Nekoofdeath woke up one late April morning in her home at 36 Barton 041466, lovingly known as ‘The Lair of Awesomeness’. As the sun came in through the window, her bleary eyes focused on her blank walls and floor. She didn’t have any furniture. Not even a bed! She had sold it earlier when she was hard for gold. She should probably get one. Meh. Later.
Getting dressed took a while. Girl has got to look her best after all! She then left her house, not even bothering to lock up; it was not like she had anything worth stealing in there anyways.
She turned to her mailbox and checked her mail. No announcements. No friend requests. Hey, 1 PM! It was from her brother MannyHo, he asked if she wanted to hang out with him in Barton Town in about an hour. Neko quickly went over her schedule, or rather her lack of one. She really needed to do more stuff. Oh well. She sent a message agreeing to meet and set off towards Barton.
Row after row of houses went by; she was getting annoyed at how long this was taking. Barely anyone even used their house, why were there so many?! But then again, she definitely couldn’t talk. She merely sighed and continued on, arriving with fifteen minutes to spare.
As she wandered around, heading in the general direction of the forums where they had agreed to meet, Neko felt a tug on her Chyaku Norisu Scarf. She turned and was nearly blinded by the sheer n00bness of the person before her.
“Hey!!! Can u donate 2 me???” the n00b asked, poking her side, smiling the whole while.
Neko frantically looked around, trying to find out where this Gaian had come from. Ah. She was right next to the Chatterbox. That explains it.
“Um… Sorry, but I’m questing for some Golden Laurels myself, and I can’t really spare any gold right now.”
The n00b persisted though. “Hey, you better donate to me or I’ll just steal your stuff anyways!”
Neko’s eyes grew hard. She marched over to a nearby mod and reported the hack, smirking as the protesting Gaia got dragged away to be investigated.
She then casually looked at the clock tower and panicked. She was already five minutes late! She ran to her destination, avoiding buildings and Gaians alike.
Neko arrived at CHEZBRGRS, one of her regular thread hangouts. Things had been slow there lately, so they weren’t likely to be bothered by beggers. MannyHo was already there, waiting for her. Even if there had been a large group of Gaians at the thread, Neko would have easily been able to pick her brother out easily.
“Why are you still a zombie?” Halloween ended months ago!?” she asked.
“I like it!” he argued. Neko just rolled her eyes.
The siblings chatted for about an hour, just relaxing and lounging around the thread, greeting some regulars like magcookie and Vixl as they passed through. Eventually MannyHo said that Mom was calling him and he had to leave. Neko waved as he left CHEZBRGRS and then just decided to stay for a while and see if the thread picked up. Before she knew it, she had dozed off.
Two hours later she woke up, feeling kind of refreshed but not really. The thread still wasn’t moving so Neko decided to take a walk around Barton Town while there was still light out. She was passing by Back Alley Bargains when she noticed a familiar figure (unsuccessfully) flirting with Nicolae.
“Lordoftheplants, is that you?” she asked, walking toward the Gaian. When they turned around, Neko gasped in shock. “Lord, it is you! But…why are you a guy?!!”
The new male sighed. “There was some issue with my dressing room and now I’m a guy. Hopefully the admins can figure it out soon. But in the meanwhile I can just be a cross dresser!” Neko just rolled her eyes at her eccentric friend.
Lord then chained the topic. “Hey, why don’t we hang around more? We can go kill some Animated, I’ll help you on your quests!”
“Sorry, but I’m spending most of my time making gold to save up for my Golden Laurels.” she replied.
Lord just looked at her, exasperated. “Why are you spending so much time and gold on those? They’re just leaves that sparkle! Just buy an EI or something.”
Neko only shrugged. “I don’t know why, I just like them, they’re cute.”
He just stared. “Whatever. Anyways, PM mew when you want to go exploring, I’ve got to go home. I bought myself a new Fondue and I need to go test him out.” And with that said Lordoftheplants left, giggling the whole way.
Well, now Neko really had nothing to do. She went and looked at new items in shops, played some cards, and went around asking for some black and white inks in the donating forums. Finally, she decided to head back home.
After a long trek back, she arrived at her house. Before going inside, she collected all of the trash, flowers, and bugs from the surrounding area, shaking rocks and trees for gold as she did so. Satisfied, she finally opened her door and went into her home. She fed her fish in her Aquarium, and the Overseer gave her some gold for her efforts. Her goldfish were starting to look old; they were probably going to die soon. Oh well, maybe she’d finally get that Goldfish Scarf. Most likely not.
Lamenting that she hadn’t bought a bed that day, Neko curled up on the surprisingly comfy floor of her house and finally, after a hard days…work…around Gaia, she fell asleep. With dreams of hidden eggs that take forever to collect dancing in her head.

Neko just stared at the message before pulling back her leg. “Barton? Barton?! I. AM. DUREEEEEEEEEM!!!”
MannyHo received his reply via the mailbox that had been launched across Gaia and through his roof.
