If there was anybody in the pride who had never made sense to Nzigu, it was his second-cousin, Yamir. Or at least he was one of the many second cousins he had. However, no matter what he had to say on the matter, Nzigu would have never admitted he thought his cousin nonsensical and crazy.

Just the other night, Yamir had wandered into the pridal den and siddled up right next to him with one of those coy grins that any male who had any inkling of ‘plotting’ going on in their mind would have – which was the first of many ‘bad signs’ to come over the coarse of the conversation. Though the first real statement uttered for said conversation was likely to be the taker of the cake.

“I.. have decided.”

He frowned, looking at the blue-and-white lion. “Decided what, Yamir?” Nzigu answered. The blue lion preened himself proudly. “I.”

…… He did this a lot when he wasn’t sure if he should just come out with it, or if he had to wait a- yep, there it was. Yamir was making sure that he was talking to him and not his mother (it had happened once), but once he was sure of his sanity again he continued along right on his merry little way.

“I have decided to go on an adventure!” the oddly face blind lion (he couldn’t really recognize the pride based solely on their pelt-color anymore, it was very sad) decreed, causing Nzigu’s ears to flatten back into his mane at the thought of his cousin going out and wandering freely.

Unaccompanied. That would have been a short adventure.

So really, Nzigu thought nothing of it.

“Really? Well that’s nice.” He answered, not giving Yamir the due ‘seriousness’ that any good ‘adult’ lion deserved. The way he saw it, Yamir would get up, go out on his ‘adventure’ the next day, then be back before nightfall of the one after at the very most.

Yamir had a totally different plan in mind.

“I’m going to go find as many bright colors and flowers as I can, then I’ll come home and tell you allll about them.” He boasted, laughing and rolling onto his back with his paws sticking up in the air.

Nzigu frowned more, but simply laid his head on top of his paws.

“Oh? Will you bring any back with you?”

This question got a whole new stir from Yamir who hadn’t even had the idea pass through his head in the least!

BRILLIANT!!

“I will! Lots and lots of bright things home with me. Especially flowers, they’re the easiest thing to get to travel with you.” He answered, before pausing a frowning a bit, looking over at Nzigu. “At least I’ve never seen a flower argue with anybody before.” He continued, his tone of voice sounding almost… puzzled. Like he was waiting for Nzigu to confirm this thought for him – which he did soon enough.

“Correct, flowers don’t argue.”

Yamir beamed happily at the confirmation of his thoughts. “I’ll have to get going first thing tomorrow morning!” he continued. Again, Nzigu just assumed it would be an adventure of a day or two before the lion came back. “Then you’ll want to get your rest.”

Nzigu was really just hoping his cousin would just.. y’know.. ‘shut his trap’ and that would be that. Which wasn’t the simple of it.

No, he had to feel the guy squirm and wiggle with ‘anticipation for his adventure’ until some god forbidden time of night before he finally conked out. After that, Nzigu got up and moved to curl up elsewhere. Maybe, if he was lucky, Yamir would leave him alone the next morning before he left.

He could only hope.
