Mid-afternoon at a public pool. Indoors and comfortable, most children were splashing around and being as rowdy as they pleased. Shylock stared boredly at them, relaxing against the edge of the pool.
The boy's tail was swishing about in the water, the rules of this place decreeing he wasn't allowed to not wear his shorts in here anymore. Presently Shylock could care less. While he was more comfortable in the nude, he liked that his tail was free move today instead of being kept wrapped around him.
Stretching a little, he watched as a few other kids ran by. Honestly, of all the pool rules to disobey, most had to choose the one that'd get them hurt.

Anthony himself didn't quite swim so much as wander around the shallower end of the pool. He couldn't risk flattening his hair, which while sounding incredibly vain had a totally practical purpose. Europa had no such qualms. When the pair came out of the showers, Eurie dressed in a very low-backed rhinestone-laced black swimsuit that Anthony had thought on for hours, the girl ran for the pool, her face gleeful, but her wing-eyes looking horrified. They closed the moment before they were sent under water. Anthony followed in, walking carefully and grinning proudly at his new daughter.
When Europa popped up again, she was at Shylock's feet. Her eyes immediately moved to his tail, watching it swish. The water wings that helped her float bobbed up and down almost comically. She raised an arm and pointed.
"I like dat."

The boy raised his head a bit, blinking at the child in front of him. "Okay. That's fine. Just don't mess with it too much if you do touch it." he commented. Shylock had had a problem with a child essentially manhandling his tail on one occasion and he didn't care to repeat it.
Leaning back again, the boy felt it necessary to return the compliment, seeing as she had probably just been being nice and not intended to harass his tail. "Your wings are very nice too."

Europa gripped the side of the pool and stared at his tail only a moment longer before turning to look him in the eye. She smiled broadly, not at the compliment but more so because the new boy wasn't staring at her.
"Thanks!"
She had no intentions of touching his tail unless he offered.

Shylock smiled a bit at her, nodding and then going back to relaxing. While it wasn't the most socially acceptable thing, he really wasn't in the mood to go starting conversations with random strangers if they didn't start one with him first. And seeing as the girl had mostly only shown an interest in his tail briefly, he didn't feel the need to bother her further. If she wanted to talk, that was fine, but otherwise, he was leaving her be.

Europa didn't leave. Instead, she piped up again to try and get this new boy to play with her. She didn't have any friends yet, and Father had said that maybe she would meet some at the pool!
"Are you gonna swim?" she asked.

"That depends. Do I have a reason to swim?" the mint haired child asked in response. He wasn't opposed to swimming but really, if he had no one he was swimming with and nothing he was trying to do or achieve, why waste time and energy swimming when he was perfectly comfortable just floating around?

Europa shrugged and smiled, completely unphased by the boy's strange manner.
"We can play. We can race!" she offered. She was sure that someone here would have a ball or some other sort of pool toy.

Shy thought for a moment before nodding. "Okay." If she was going to actually join him, that would be fine then. Zipping around a pool was kind of boring when alone but all right with another kid.

Eurie giggled happily and clapped her hands together, accidentally splashing herself in the face with flying droplets.
"PFFFBLHT," she spit, trying to get the water out of her face as she batted at it. When she was finished, she waited, blinked, and then looked back up to the boy.
"Sorry."

Shy, however, was laughing a bit at that. "Nice one." he snickered, finding that to be a rather amusing little turn of events. He hadn't expected that to happen and it'd been funny. Jokingly, the boy splashed her again.

"PFFFBLHT!" Europa spit again, the dissolving into giggles. She would admit that she had problems with her clumsiness sometimes.
"Hey!" she yelped, grinning and splashing Shylock back.

The mint haired toddler laughed and returned the attack, this time using his tail to make a second wave in the water. This was fun! Good, clean, and very wet fun.

Europa was more or less totally outdone by the use of a tail, as her wings weren't quite strong enough to create any sort of useful splash. The eyes on her wings alternately closed and squinted open in the spray, not enjoying the flying water at all. Europa, however, was giggling and splashing, turning her head every so often to not get a wave directly in the face.

The pair's splash fight continued for a little while till they were both a bit out of breath and running the risk of getting hurt if they kept it up. Shy moved to rest a bit against the edge of the pool, catching his breath.
"That was fun."
