Private RP between Faolan (Jynk) and Ellandra (Redbud-Tree) . . . and possibly their Essentics.
Location: Farstep Carnival. Specifically the front steps of their vardo.
Time: Night, right after Lee went to bed. First night of their three-way marriage.
Weather: Uneasy and heavy.

Faolan sat outside the vardo he shared with not one, but now two wives and pondered just how he'd gotten in this mess. He'd wanted to protect Lee and get her out of what was looking to be a bad situation. Seeing Will there had just compelled his impulsive nature to act quickly. Now he was married again.
He took a drink from the half-empty bottle of beer, watching the carnival close down for the night. Ziazan had slinked back half an hour ago and went on to curl up on the couch for sleep. The wives had long since bedded down and he was sure the other two Essentics had called it a night, too. He was finally alone with his thoughts. He wasn't too sure he liked that.

Ellandra couldn't sleep. Try as she might, she just. . . . couldn't. She was too used to having Faolan there to snuggle with, too used to not being alone in a bed, too overwhelmed by all that had gone on. There were many reasons for her situation, but only one end result - she got to her feet and tiptoed outside, pausing for a moment at the front room to see it Faolan-less.
She didn't have time to wonder where he was though, as she saw him sitting on the steps immediately upon exiting the Vardo. She bit her lip, unsure f whether she should bother him or not, but finally called out to him softly.
"Faolan. . .?"
As much as she didn't want to admit it for fear of upsetting him, she needed reassurance. She didn't want left behind, or shoved aside, and while logically she knew Faolan wouldn't do that, she still feared that such things might very well occur. She needed to hear directly from Faolan that they wouldn't.

Faolan smiled a bit, bottle barely touching his lips, and looked up at her. "What took you so long?" He set the half-filled bottle down next to two empty ones then patted the steps next to him. "Have a sit-down, my love. I've a feeling we'll be talkin' awhile."

"I wasn't sure you were just outside," Ellandra admitted a little shepishly as she moved to sit down next to him. She looked out over the carnival grounds for a long moment in silence, before sighing. "You've spoiled me. . . I can't sleep alone any more, it doesn't feel right," she said at last, still not looking at Faolan. She wasn't sure that, if she did, she wouldn't burst into tears on the spot - and that was th last thing that she wanted to have happen right now.

The young man rested an arm around Elle's shoulders, letting her rest against him. "I ain't runnin' off from this. I just needed some time to think." He rested his head against hers. "I didnae mean for this t'happen. I just didnae want her married to that pompous idiot."
He sighed, rubbing at his face with his free hand a moment before letting it drop to his lap. "I'd sleep in th' bed with you, but it wouldnae be fair to Lee. I mean, in th' sense that . . . well, she's my wife, too, and I have to try and be fair. I'm not really sure either of you want to see me be affectionate to the other. I donnae want to hurt either of you."

"I know that, Faolan," Ellandra said softly, in response to everything he'd just told her. "I'll just have to get used to it again, that's all. . ." She knew all of this, more or less, and she knew Faolan was too kind to want to hurt either of them, all of it made sense - it just. . . wasn't the most pleasant of situations, however she looked at it. She just couldn't see a way for everyone to be happy, regardless of the marriage-status.

"Look, Elle. No matter what happens, you're always gonna be first in my heart and mind. You and the kids. I cannae deny that," Fao told her, looking down at his wife. "You're more than my wife. You're a part of my soul, my missing half. That never will change and you will always be the person I love most. Right now, it's prickly. I want to help Lee sort out this mess, but I also actually want this whole marriage to work . . . for all of us. Didikai really hold a high regard for family and marriage. They're supposed to be good things and be happy. I cannae go against my culture." He looked out at the carnival. "I feel very torn between how exactly to do right by that girl. I donnae want to ******** anything up between us, either. More than I already have."

Ellandra bit her lip, looking down. "I - I know, Faolan . . . and. . . and I just want. . . I just want you to be happy. . . you and Lee both," but it was so hard when the means of their happiness made her hurt so much - or at least Lee's happiness, she wasn't sure at all how Faolan felt about this situation. . . she didnt' know anything about this sort of situation. Maybe if she had, she'd know better of how to deal with it. As it was, she was just. . . confused and hurt, and wanting everything to work out but not knowing how to make that happen.

"Yeah, well, your happiness comes before hers, I'm afraid," Faolan admitted. "I care for her, I do, but you were here first, you're havin' my children, and--" He shrugged. "--I don't really know her that well. I donnae know if what I did was stupid or brave." He scooted his butt around so he could face Ellandra better, touching her chin gently so she'd look up at him. "Hurting you is the last thing I'd ever do. It hurts me to know you're unhappy and that I'm the cause of your unhappiness."

Ellandra sighed a little. "I think it was a mix of both, Faolan. . . Lee's too young to know what a serious relationship is like, let alone a marriage. . . but at least here it's not with someone who would marry his reflection if he could." It took her a long moment veofre she would look at Faolan, even when he touched her chin, and when she did she was doing her best to keep hear earlier-shed tears from showing signs that they had been there. "And. . . you did what had to be done, I understand that," she said softly, not adding any more to that, though.

"Well, yeah. I mean, I ain't gonna let that slimy outsider pouf near any of my women, wives or not. I saw him there and I couldnae help stickin' it to him and Lee's mother," Faolan said. "Now we got her and I ain't sure what to do. I know what the traditions of my people say on this matter, but I cannae help takin' both your opinions into consideration."
He thought about it, then smiled at her. "You know, I donnae have to lie with her to make the rest of the marriage valid. Lee's been so sheltered. This could be a good thing for her to learn what things are really like. Prepare her, I guess, for when she finds someone she really does love."

Ellandra looked down at her belly for a moment. "I think the babies scare her," she said quietly, almost thoughtfully. "And I'm not sure I'd call it sheltered. . . . more like imprisoned." She bit her lip for a moment, then smiled - though it was an ironic one, not a really happy one. "She visited some time ago, I think it was back when I was getting sick. . . she wanted to come and live her even then - actually, it was Lauss' idea, come to think of it," and a small but true smile graced her lips. "He didn't want to have to go home and leave Rhian."
Gathering her skirt in her hands and wringing it, for lack of something better to do with her tense energy, the brunette sighed a little and continued, "Lee would have found her way here eventually anyway, I think," she admitted. "And right now, Faolan, she really thinks she loves you. . . I'm not certain she really does, but she thinks so. . . and I think she'd rather not have to see me, for some reason. . ."

"I know how she feels," Faolan said softly, looking down. "But I ain't gonna take one wife over another. I'm certainly not shoving you aside for her." He looked at her. "I'd like to think on some level, she understands what you mean to me and that I'm willing to open our home and our lives to let her have a place here, too." He shrugged. "I feel lost in this, Elle. You've always had better sense than me. What should I do?"

"I don't know, Faolan," Ellandra said, reaching over and touching his hand for a moment, then pulling away again. "In this situation, I don't know what to do any more than you do. . ." she paused for a moment and thought for a bit. "But. . . I hadnt' thought of it this way, Faolan, but we've basically just gotten Lee out of what I think was a very abusive household - maybe not physically, but emotionally at least. . . I think she's probably very confused. . ."
Grabbing her necklace and twirling it in her fingers, Ellandra added, "Maybe what she needs more than anything. . . is just to see that there are people who care about her, marriage or not. . . bcause she needs a true family, regardless of how she gets it. . ."
