It wasn't too long after Chivosi had answered Menelaous' question that they rounded a corner on the game trail and after a brief sorjorn through the words they came to the abandoned den that was no longer quite so abandoned.
It was a decent looking place, large and well built an old fallen over tree stump protecting the entrance from the wind. Coming to a halt outside the Den Chiv peered within yipping out a call for Merril.
"Merril? Merril are you in there? there's someone I want you to meet"

One of these days she would just try her luck again ripping that stump away from the entrance; wind was something she liked to feel, and it gave the den some fresh air every once in a while. Summer, after all! Yet even a summer nap was denied her, and the beta femme rolled over with a soft moan as her eyes adjusted to the twilight within their temporary home. "Eh? What's that?" Merrill mumbled, reluctant to get to her feet. "What've you got now, Si?"

Menelaus was brought to the scene. A cozy little den which kept a snoozing purpley coated wolf. He smiled, such a color to see out here. And the females markings were different. Something from the mountains he figured, a gift to her maybe? He was a little curious.
"Hello, my name is Menelaus." He was very sweet sounding, his voice didn't much match his size. He seemed a puppy still but, in a well grown male adult. "You must be Merril, Chiv has been telling me about you and your plans to travel to a pack." He took this moment to sit and look over the female once more.

Chiv sat back on her haunches as Merril glanced out sleepily and Menelaus introduced himself - she rather hoped the Grey coated male wouldn't be bothered by Merril's tendency to shorten names. Chiv herself found this quirk rather amusing and didn't at all mind being called Si.
"I found Menelaus here by the stream over the clearing, seems he's trying to find his way about the area too and I thought...well why not all of us go together?"

"What'd you bring, Si, a pup or something?" Sure it sounded a tad too deep to be one, but forgive a wolf if she rambled while still half-asleep. Several moments of grumbling later, Merrill poked her head out, eyes slitted in the sunlight of the afternoon: nope, no pup was that size. "Meh-what now?" It certainly wouldn't do to shorten his to something even remotely to her own nickname "Meme", so "Mene" was immediately out the door as well. She grunted in thought as she slid out of the shadows and into the warm air to greet them, very aware that first impressions were most important, and thus she stretched and straightened before continuing.
"Yup, Merrill at your service, sah. First male I've seen in these lands, actually; you look more like the ones back home." Some chit-chat would help her inspiration for a moniker. "So you're interested in following our heels? Provided you've got a good head on your shoulders, I don't see why not. Where're you from?"

The wolf stumbling free of it's den was a tad out of it. A pup! Did he sound or look like a pup?! He wasn't angry after he realized her half-dazed way of standing there and when she seemed to finally awake from her half-slumber she seemed very much all there. "Menelaus." He repeated and remembered her habit of shortening the name. "I've been called Laus countless times.." He offered her, a small and welcoming smile on his lips. In the end it'd be up to her and he didn't mind being called any name. In fact it would be special to him.
"I'd very much enjoy traveling with you two, I've had the joy of meeting and speaking with Chiv a little while and the both of you seem very nice." His smile became a bit more brighter as he spoke. Friends! At last! He was indeed a pleased wolf. "And believe me, I've got a good head on these shoulders, I am a lone wolf after all. Gotta be sharp witted to survive." He wagged his tail lightly.

Well if he offered her such a nickname, of course she wasn't about to take it! Her habit was her habit, and she'd be damned if a simple moniker like that would be his to her. Odd how he was so quick to say he was pleased to meet her barely ten minutes into the meeting. "'A lone wolf is a dead wolf' as the saying goes," Merrill said in agreement, and then yawned. "Well, company's not scorned, so welcome to the little group, Mene-Pup. We'll figure out something for you yet. So," the beta continued, addressing Chivosi, "got any other news? Or shall we ship off for a meal? I'm peckish."

Chiv had remained quiet as the other two got to know one another, her attention seemed to have wandered back into the woods and at Merrils suggestion she too realised she was rather hungry and stretching rose from her haunches.
"Nah, I try to limit my news to one important find a day"
She quipped with a wag of her tail
"But digging up a meal seems like a fine idea."

Mene-Pup. he thought about that for a second and smiled, sure it was a strange name but, he could put up with it. It was special any who. "Thank-you for the welcome." He smiled. Friendly as any other wolf and proud to be with a group once more.
"A meal sounds like a plan. Whats on the menu?" He knew teh area but, rarely hunted game that could be taken down by three wolves. Perhaps he'd be trying his first deer or maybe other game. He was excited and coudln't help it. Living off of rabbits and such wasn't to bad for a single wolf but, got exhausted after a while.

"What's on the menu? Well, whatever we can grab with our teeth of course," she replied with a soft scoff, as if that were the most obvious fact in the world. "And I sincerely hope Si here isn't serious about the 'digging up' part. Between you and me, I hate having to bury myself in the dirt just to get a scrawny meal; almost degrading, it is." Merrill began to trot lightly forward towards the forest. "I feel like being daring and trying for a doe today. Maybe if we're lucky, they'll just flat out drop dead from this heat." A true irritant for one who had such thick fur from her lifestyle in the mountains.

Chiv fell into line behind Merril as she trotted out of camp, glancing back to see if Mene was following. A doe huh? well she highly doubted they would drop dead at thier feet like Merril hoped but hey it was a nice thought.
"Well thier are three of us now..a doe shouldn't be terribly hard"
She offered hopefully - frankly she was gettin tired of rabbits and small game.
