Any Lolitas going to Otakon '09? If so, do you know of any gatherings?

I was actually thinking of bringing this up, but looks like someone beat me to the puch. No matter -- it's still the same con, after all. As for gatherings, last year there was a Lolita Tea Party meet-up (sad story on my part about that, for another day) last year. As far as I'm concerned, nobody has planned a thing for lolita, at least according to the biggest, baddest most comprehensive gathering list of them all for Otakon '09. (Everybody take note of the one, two, three Phoenix Wright gatherings...)
Naturally, though, if you wanted to host something specifically for lolita, then don't hesitate to drop EurobeatKing a line (the fellow who heads the thread + Ace Photographer). The biggest turnout for con attendance will/is typically between Friday and Saturday. Those days, you could probably find lolita wandering around and get together with them then.
For all the lurkers who are reading this and are in attendance, and, well, for everybody else, too, I suppose -- Rakuen Fashion will be returning to the Dealer's Room, in addition to Angelicstar, Goddess Boutique, Yoko Trading, and, eh, Lady Heather's Fashions. Lady Heather is taking up three booths this year, so be wary. I was certain Angelic Pretty would be returning this year, but I suppose I'm mistaken; does anybody remember them being there a previous year? Here is a full list for the dealers and artists in the alley in attendance.
Lastly - something I'm positive will make half of you jump for joy - Kanon Wakeshima is making her U.S. debut at Otakon '09! A hauntingly breathtaking cellist, she has been recognized and supported by Mana himself. Her forte is split between baroque cello and powerful vocals. Many know her for her work on the Vampire Knight ED still doll. She'll be performing Saturday afternoon.

Crystal Orchid UPDATE: There will be a fan panel (note fan here) at Otakon '09, time and location TBA, titled "Ultimate Lolita Fashion Show". Other than that placeholder on the page Otakon announced it panels, I found no additional information offsite. Good luck to anyone else who tries~ -C'est la lune qui conduit la danse...-Not a "fan panel". :/ It's a lolita panel, put together by acutal lolitas, like the year before, and the year before that. A fashion show displaying many works by small-time 'brands' and/or seamstresses from various parts of the country. There will be another panel that will serve as an intro panel for the fashion style, hosted by another lolita. And then there's supposedly going to be a panel on the "Lifestyles of Lolita" by someone else (whoever the hell that might be.) There will be a tea party like there was last year (and the year before), off the con grounds. Angelic Pretty was never there last year. That was MaruiOne selling Angelic Pretty merchandise, though I haven't heard anything about them returning so I wouldn't count on it. There are smaller "brands" coming out such as Morrigan NYC who will have booths at the con, as well as some of my lolita friends will be having art booths and other dealers booths. Information on the lolita going-ons at the con area has already been posted on Livejournal EGL. -...quand le soleil sera couché dans ton âme froide.-

-C'est la lune qui conduit la danse...-
Sorry bout that, I just got a bit offended since you called the fashion show a "fan panel". My friend Carla has been working hard on that, has been running the lolita panels for years at Otakon.

My goodness, I'm sorry. I had no idea; it was listed under "Fan Panels", and seeing as it wasn't something thing from the industry, well... I suppose even I forget what a negative connotation "fan panel" has these days. I haven't been free to attend any past lolita panels at Otakon, hopefully this year will be the first.

Most conventions do refer to them as fan panels because they just view it as another form of cosplay, so don't feel too bad about the mix-up. Plus, most cons only have "fan" panels versus "industry" panels, so it technically is the right term. It just doesn't really describe the content accurately.
Just keep in mind that con staff's view isn't the same as those who are involved in the fashion, so to take what is said by the staff with a grain of salt.

UPDATE: This might not be so much of an update for the LJ lolitas here on Gaia (I wouldn't know, I don't go there very much), but the Lifestyles of Lolita panel has been canceled. As the Otakon big wigs say, though, "there've been some cancellations, additions, and substitutions", so more in the next two... the next day (what the heck, Otakon!?) can't be unexpected.

You were right, though, Amani, about there not being an Angelic Pretty booth. I don't know who was selling it this year, but I found Meta, Innocent World, Angelic Pretty, and possibly BABY in one booth together. To think that I was just a thin sheet of plastic and a couple hundred dollars away from actual Meta... I wouldn't have had enough money to purchase it anyway even if I hadn't splurged on Phoenix Wright merchandise.
But all in all, a successful con, in my opinion. Did anyone make it to the American Lolita panel? I arrived too late for it.

I was in Baltimore the other day, but only to go to the aquarium. But I did stopped by the Otakon to take some pictures. I was so sad that the Otakon was there but I couldn't go!

Apparently Kinokuniya was the one who was selling the different brands. There was the "Lady Heather's" booth but I heard they sold mostly BTSSB or something.
Now I'm wonder if there was anything left over... if there was, I can totally grope them at the NYC store xD omg
