Rain pattered on the grass and pavement, and the streets were dank with the mineral scent of evaporating water. It made for a gloomy working environment...especially when the subject of his work was supposed to be centered around bright florals and the warmth of the sun.

And so, to clear his head, Hitsuga had placed his work aside for a moment to step out of the house for some fresh air and watch the rainfall from the dry safety of the front door's threshold. This sort of weather never brought much in the way of customers as it had sent them all huddled under awnings of restaurants or simply not venturing out at all...

...which meant a slow day for him. Which was a mixed blessing, really. It would give him time to work, but it would mean he was working for no one.

Watching the small silver blossoms that budded, bloomed, and were gone again in a split second each time a droplet of water struck the ground, he allows the repetitive noise to soothe him, his gaze drawn first to the scraggly lawn, and then to the side of the house.

Perhaps he ought to follow Kouyo's example, and plant some flowers, he muses. ....though they would really go best on the side. He can think of no other use for such a narrow strip of yard if NOT to house a garden....

In thinking it over, he eventually steps off of the porch, into the tepid summer shower that pelts his head and shoulders as he ventures around the side of the house to look it over again...

There was someone, at least, that did not mind the rain.

While the few people who were outside seemed to be running down the street in order to get out of the rain as far as possible, or were carrying umbrellas, it was not the case for the young porcelain boy, who walked down the sidewalk at a slow pace, visibly not caring that his clothes were drenched.

The dark skinned figure seemed to stop curiously before the perfumery, however. He had noticed it during his travels, but had not quite stopped there yet.

It seemed open... and so he walked over to take a peek inside.

The perfumer lingers, half-in and half-out of the rainfall, protected partially by the overhang of the roof. Up close, he can see it better, where the grass has grown in thinly over what had once been exposed earth. It would likely not take much to clear it out...

....though the question of whether he would find the time or the drive to do so remains unanswered.

Deciding to let it go for now, he pads back across the yard to return indoors before Baikou could question why, oh why, Hitsuga was inviting himself to catch a cold going out to stand in such weather...

....only to nearly run into someone who had, decidedly, NOT been there a moment ago. eek

The sudden feeling that there was someone right behind him seemed to be enough to clue Rou in, and the young man all but scurried inside to allow Hitsuga to come in.

Ahh ! Rou is sorry ! sweatdrop

And for his part Hitsuga scampers back a few steps, heart suddenly in his throat.

Ah, no...no its all right...! he assures, quickly recollecting himself from the scare. sweatdrop Privately, he wonders how it is that people, it seems, continually are able to enter his house unnoticed.

Its all right, he says again, clearing his throat and straightening himself as he properly settles eyes on Rou, giving him a smile. Hitsuga was only startled....

Is there something Young Master is looking for today? 3nodding

He is simply curious, the dark-skinned one projects. He has passed the shop a few times ever since it opened, but never stopped to look in greater detail.

Rou hopes he is not bothering anything, and if this one is busy, perhaps he could drop by at another time ? He does not wish to bother...

Ah, he is fortunate. Because, the weather being what it is, there is nothing to bother today, he explains with a soft chuckle as he ventures forward again, into the storefront.

The display of manners, alone, is enough for Hitsuga to take comfort in the idea that this young one doesn't plan to be reckless and so...

Young Master is welcome to look, he invites, gesturing to the shelves politely and accompanying it with projections of enouragement.

The encouragement seems to be doing it's work, as the dark-skinned boy pads inside the house one more, eyes wide and curious as he glances at the assortment of bottles on the shelf, though he seems content with looking about at the moment.

Perfume is not a completely new concept to Rou, though he has certainly never owned any, though he had often bartered flowers, spices, and other raw materials with his father and, later, with his master, in exchange for food or clothes.

He'd never lingered in one shop long enough to learn much, or smell much, so this is very interesting and new to the boy...

...Who seems to belatedly notice that he's dripping all over Hitsuga's floor. sweatdrop Hopefully there is a mop around so that Rou can take care of his mess... The boy does seem rather embarrassed and apologetic.

Hitsuga seems confused a moment, and then his eyes fall to the floor where, not only are Rou's wet footprints everywhere, but his own are as well... gonk

.....If Rou will excuse him a moment.....

Flustered embarrassment flits off of the elder male as he scuttles out of the storefront into the house, returning a moment later with a pair of towels, one which he offers to Young Master for his hair and the other which he begins to mop the floor with.

Hitsuga apologizes, perhaps there's something to Baikou's insistences they're in the throes of old age after all... sweatdrop

Rou accepts the towel with a projection of mixed gratitude and apology, and begins to dry off his hairs. He should have likely thought about it before coming in... sweatdrop

If Rou should have thought of it, then Hitsuga CERTAINLY has no excuse... he assures the young one, wiping away the wet footprints and puddles until they are no longer sinister little somethings lying in wait to make he or Baikou slip and fall.

Kan, he could not particularly care less about...

Re-addressing the shelves, so as not to linger on the wet floor and make Rou uncomfortable, Hitsuga goes on that he is currently working to expand his stock as he learns which of Gaia's materials are workable and which are not.

It seems, at least, on this front, the Empire and this world have much in common, though.

Rou seems rather eager to leave the matter of the wet floor aside himself, focusing on the perfumer's musing. Rou has noticed it himself, he projects. Many things here are similar to how they were back home. Not all of them, and certainly he does his best to identify things before doing anything with them, but so far much of what he does know is similar, which has made his life slightly easier on certain points. Like fishing.
