"Vernon?" Verity strode through the trees, her eyes looking around at where she usually found her grumpy mate, Vernon. They hadn't really been spending time with one another, and Verity knew the truth. Well.. she knew enough to know that Vernon wasn't telling her everything that was meant to be told. She had reached a point of uncaring but for the sake of her land, she would follow Vernon in everything he chose.
Now wasn't the time she worried about her own love life. It was another. Verity was known to be nosy in helixes affairs. And lately, a young, alpha-aspiring female had caught her eye. She had no mate, and was soon going to become the alpha of her group or family or what ever. "Vernon!" Verity called again, becoming frustrated.

Vernon was, as he usually did lately, resting on a large rock, staring off into space, a gloomy expression plastered on his face. He peered down at his palms, which held power, much power. Power he didn't want. He sighed miserably, looking across at the Neutral lands he ruled over. Of course, it just had to be the most popular of all areas. Lately, helxies could be seen moving out, so hopefully the other territories would help balance it out. He didn't like knowing he had responsibility over so many helixes, but that didn't mean he wasn't going to try and do his best.
His ears flickered suddenly when a familiar sound reached them. His head snapped up and he sniffed the air. Had Verity really called? They rarely hung our recently, and he knew she knew about his feelings for Helki.
When she called again, louder, he stood and went to where the sound was coming from, calling as he went, his voice low and soft. "Verity?"

Eden yawned and stretched. She had fallen asleep under the willow tree her and Taronja had played around. Shaking the dirt and debris from her pelt, she glanced around. No one. "Hm." she hummed, prancing out towards a stream not far from her resting spot.
The cold water soothed her throat as she lapped up the clear liquid. Sighing she sat back on her haunches and stared into the stream. Her thoughts always led back to her worries. Worrying about becoming alpha, about being a good leader, about how she was alone in all this trouble.
Her brothers had no clue what she was dealing with.. no one did.

Shadow growled and swiped at a plant, ripping it from the ground in on strike. His mane was bristled and his fangs gleaming. Obviously, he was not having a good day, and who could blame him? His mate, who he thought was completely devoted to him, recently gave birth to a litter of pups that were not his own. He had tried to kill them, but she forced him to stop, and this hurt him, even more so when he watched the way he cared for them. In his anger, he told her he would go off to hunt, but he couldn't stop thinking about what had happened long enough for him to form a coherent plan on what to get, and how to get it and here he was, angrily attacking unmoving objects.

"Vernon!" she turned around to see him walking slowly towards her in the distance. Sighing and rolling her eyes, she met him half way. "I've been trying to find you." She whispered once she was close enough to him.. closer than she really wanted to be. "I need a favor of you." she began and leaned against a near by tree, her arms crossed.
"I need you to find me one of your best males. He has to be young, strong, and alpha material. I've found a girl that needs him." she eyed him letting it sink in, what she was asking. "I haven't asked for anything in a very long while, Vernon..." she paused, remembering that last time she asked asked him for something. And the sad truth, she honestly couldn't remember. "Can you do that for me?" she asked and stood up, her head tilted some.
She was still aggravated constantly knowing that he was lying to her. Every time she's near him, it's the first thing that cross between them. He's hiding something. As she saw Vernon leave in such a hurry, she turned and stalked off to find her girl.

Vernon, ears flattening slightly when he heard the angry tone in his mate's voice, tried to hurry towards her. Her quiet tone surprised him, and he cocked an ear to listen to her better, only her voice worrying him. He was, after all, a god. He knew he was strong enough to take out any that bothered him, his mate, or his territory, even though he couldn't control his powers.
What she asked surprised him, as it had been a while since she had asked something from him. He was unsure whether he should heed her request, as he preferred not to meddle in the lives of his subjects unless absolutely necessary, but his guilt allowed him to agree. He would do almost anything for forgiveness.
"I can." he said softly. "I'll start as soon as possible." Her accusing stare frightened him and he left quickly, glad to have an excuse to go.

Eden laid down and next to the stream, her paw hanging out to fiddle with the water. Her thoughts were swirling and swirling and seemed that they would never find a solution. She sighed heavily and closed her eyes. Maybe sleep would take her once again and she'll be at peace once more.
As soon as she was about to slip under her pressure and relax back into slumber, a power washed over her. It seemed the breeze had stopped unnoticed, and everything in the area was frozen in awe.
Her eyes darted open and her face was surprised and terrified as she stared up into the eyes of her Goddess. Verity.

Shadow, displeased with the lack of resistance the plants had shown, was stuck with padding around angril, his dark fur bristling. If anyone had seen him, he would look like the perfect example of a monster. Ears flat, eyes wide, gums red, fangs glistening, and nostrils flared. He couldn't get his anger, dissapointment, grief, and other emotions whirling around out of his mind. What was worse, he had allowed the father of the accursed pups escape alive.
Suddenly, an idea flashed in his mind. If he could kill the father, the worthless, cowardly, pink male, he was sure his mind could find peace at least. He turned swiftly, looking for the male's scent, when he stopped as soon as he turned. There was a two-legged helix watching over him.
He was Alpha material, of course. His parents, although not Alphas themselves, were high of status, and he was their first born. He was strong, swift, and although not the wisest, could prove loyal and courageous, if not prone to bursts of anger at times. Even if he wasn't an adult yet, he knew that if he was, nothing would change. The power he felt radiating from the two-legged male was much stronger than his own.
His appearance confused Shadow. It was as if the creature before him was a mix between a man and a helix. The power, though, was impossible to ignore, and when the male beckoned him over, he followed.

Verity smiled kindly down at the female, reaching out her palm and stroking Eden's dark fur. "My my, how you've grown Eden." Verity commented with a giggle. "No need to be frightened." she knelt down to meet eye to eye with the teenager, her eyes still full of happiness.
"I wish to take you someone. I have some one you should meet, child." Standing she motioned with her first two fingers to follow her. Insure that the helix would do as told, Verity turned and gracefully walked back towards the trees to meet up with Vernon and the male.
In her thoughts she warned him. You had better picked a good one. I will not see this child as disappointed as I am.

Vernon had watched the male from between the trees. He seemed too angry, and it was obvious the male was not from his own territory. However, he could find no other male close to the rank of Alpha. Many were already grown or were too timid to be good leaders. Others were too young. And time was running out.
Vernon's ears flattened more as he continued to watch the dark mass of boiling anger. This was one of the times he wished he could control his powers, but it was impossible at the moment. Afraid to be late, or appear empty-handed, he strode out from the trees, trying to appear confident. The reaction was instant.
The male turned to him, and the anger in his eyes were replaced with a look of surprise, and perhaps awe. Again, Vernon was not his god, and so he didn't have as much of an impact on the male. He couldn't even find out the male's name unless the other told him.
With a slight curve of his long fingers, he beckoned the other over, and the dark male came. Vernon looked him over while he did so. Without the look of mad rage, he supposed the male could be decent enough. He wasn't a female, he didn't know what they would consider handsome, but the male was dark, and his few patterns stuck out in an eye-catching way, with colors similar to that of a sunset. The eyes, too, shone brighter than normal because of the surrounding dark fur, and he carried himself in a way that suggested he had strength equal to, if not greater than, his size.
When the male reached him, he crouched so that their height was almost the same, and asked for his name. When he recieved it, and told his own name in return, he stood. "Come then, Shadow, if you please." he said, already loping off towards Verity. "It has been requested that someone special sees you."

The goddess was beautiful. Her fur glowed a golden color, her fur and hair shone in the sun's light, and her voice was like music. She swallowed hard, unsure of what to do once the Goddess knelt down get a closer look.
Had she done something wrong? Perhaps the Goddess didn't want an unworthy helix to become an alpha in her lands. What ever it was, made the Goddess seem all that more powerful.
Wait, what? The Goddess is going to introduce me to someone?! Eden screamed in her mind, the fear almost becoming tears in her eyes. She knew better than refuse or argue so reluctantly, Eden stood and followed her goddess into the trees.
What have I gotten myself into?

As soon as the male looked away, Shadow could feel his powers less, and it was easier to resist. He was skeptical of the strange male, for he had never seen a god or goddess before, and wasn't sure what Vernon was supposed to be. Still, he didn't want to go home, not just yet, and his curioisty had been aroused.
He followed the tall male as quickly as he could, staying on the alert and trying to appear fearsome in case it was a trap. He wasn't sure if it was, though, because if he was wanted dead, he was sure the male leading him could easily kill him.

Verity's smile vanished once she turned from Eden's view. Her anger at Vernon was steadily rising, considering she'd spoken to him more today than she had in the the past month. Nonetheless, she could feel Eden following her obediently. She really liked this girl. Her spirit was strong and she knew how to behave when around the higher beings.
Verity also knew Eden wasn't originally from this land. She was from the west at first. She'd listened in our her conversation with that boy, Taronja. He two was not from here. It seemed a lot of helixes from around the areas were flocking into the neutral lands... and to be greeted by such a grumpy ruler as Vernon. How tragic.
Verity stopped where she had found Vernon. He hadn't returned yet so her anger rose just a little more. Of course she wasn't going to show it to Eden, that would be awful to let the young child see the fury of a Goddess, pointed at her God. So instead of letting her anger slip, she turned and smiled at the girl. "It will be a few moments, dear. Patience."

Vernon, glad and pleased that the male had chosen to follow him (he didn't know what he would've done if the only one that matched Verity's request chose to leave), led the way to the place he and Verity had spoken earlier that morning. He went slower than usual so the other could keep up, and tried not to let his fearful impatience show.
When Verity and the female she brought were in sight, he quickened his pace, and hoped she hadn't had to wait long. "We're here." he said to Shadow quietly.

Eden's tail was low, as her body was crouched to the ground, next to her Goddess as they waited. She was very curious as to what the Goddess had in store for Eden. Who was she going to have to meet? Maybe mother Helki... maybe the God of Death came to reclaim her and her family for the West. Her fear shot up unbearably. She couldn't go back to the West!
Her eyes never strayed from Verity. They seemed locked on her, for her every move. Her breath froze in her throat every time she thought the Goddess was going to speak. Then she shifted and immediately Eden was on her feet, waiting for a command.
...Was that a voice? But.. Verity hadn't spoken. Her lips hadn't moved. And as far as Eden knew, Goddess couldn't speak telepathically. Of course.. Eden didn't know that much about higher beings.
Then it hit her. She hadn't felt his power at first, being so engrossed with Verity's. Her eyes shot towards the direction Verity was staring and there walked God Vernon himself.. Oh. My. Gods.
Feeling weak in her knees, Eden dropped to a bow to Vernon. She then noticed, when her eyes lifted to gaze over his body another time, that he was followed by a helix that was only a little bigger than herself. Whaaaat?
