The room, as cluttered as always, looked no different than usual, including the presence of an amused Turner and somber Tyven. They had something interesting in mind, that they'd been practicing together privately for years, at Tyven's behest, and now the combat instructor thought it'd be a good idea to teach a few other students.

Tyven didn't seem to think it was the best idea, but she was there to help despite that. Especially considering who was enrolled. They, of course, didn't know exactly what they were getting into.

So now they waited.

Chath had come in eagerly, the smile on his face was unmistakable when he spotted Tyven and offered her a goofy smile and a wave.

"Hey!" He called out rather excited he didn't know she was going to be here. Then again he wasn't that familar with the teacher either. He gave an awkward smile when he realized he had immediately addressed Tyven rather than his teacher.

"H..hi." He quickly continued with a wave to the teacher. "Name's Chath, " he htne looked aorund and noticed it was just the three of them.

"Am I late?"

For once, Cleo was the one who entered first. On time, no less! Her face was twisted into something a little less than cheerful, eyes narrowed up. She didn't look mad but... upset. Disturbed. The goldcrest ignored Chath, a rather strange action. Usually, she made nice with the lesser known people.

"Tyvie?" She piped out once inside as Shilling frolicked in behind her. The goldcrest made her way to the snake girl and latched onto one strong arm. Cleo tugged at her sister, leaned up and spoke lightly against her ear. "Emi's been actin' strange. Just so you know."

Then she released and hopped back, grinned just as the door was pushed open again to reveal their slim cousin. A small sliver of pale with a long sleeved violet top, fitted, and a pair of tight-fitted shorts cut to mid-thigh, a soft pink belt with a flower buckle around one the small waist. Her legs, down to the light pink sneakers, were covered by a pair of black tights. Odette slithered after her.

"Oh... Hello." She smiled, small, almost nervous, and fidgeted. "Everyone I'm related to is here, aren't they...?"

"Except him!" Cleo pipped up, her eyes on Chath now. What happened to him be damned. "You're uhm - not related to us. And. Stuff."

Tyven blinked, the rare, pretty grin on her face the only sign of her surprise. She definitely hadn't expected such a friendly greeting from the boy. Of course, she'd helped save him during that whole dragon fiasco, but still.

"Hello," was her calm response, and she seemed about to say more when Turner let out a loud laugh, getting to her feet and shaking the newt's hand. Both females were clad in flattering, dark clothing, Tyven in a form-fitting, knit longsleeve, tucking into a pair of tailored pants [both her hands and feet were bare], and Turner in a black tank and shorts.

"I'm well aware, Chath. It was a long time ago, but I taught your self-defense and weaponry courses. I keep track of former students. It's nice to see you again." He'd been quite a good sport, if she remembered correctly. Lost a fight to that pissy snake boy.

Whatever Tyven might've said was further derailed by the arrival of her sister, touching, moving closer, whispering, then moving away. Her predatory eyes instantly caught sight of the willowy swan.

"Emi," her cool, low voice would, without a doubt, capture the other girl's attention. For some reason, Tyven's voice usually did that. To prey, anyway. "Are you well?" It was a casual question, or, as casual at Tyven got.

Turner spoke to the entire group, moving across the room to a mat where they could sit, pushing a wheeled whiteboard in that direction as she did so.

"No, no one's late! Let's get started, mmmn? I need to grab a few things from the supply room, but I trust Tyven to get a jump on things in the meantime."

Emi stared at Tyven for a long moment at her question and was saved 'by the bell' when Turner broke through the silence. The thin swan turned towards that whiteboard, rubbed her hands on her shorts idly.

Cleo was the one who took over in her cousins place, rocking back and forth on her heels, humming under her breath. "So, Tyvvie!" A spin, the front flap of her skort fluffing out and curls bouncing, a smile. "What're we doing? You're all covered up. Are we being ninjas today?"

Chath was a bit surprised at the rather energetic shaking of hands. Not that he really minded as he liked it when people resonded this way. His goofy smile still in place despite the curious look he gave to Tyven when she went off to the side with Cleo. When Turner left he felt a bit...uh...out of the loop persay as Cleo and Tyven grouped together. Emi...this was his first time meeting the swan girl.

Despite being rather oblivious at times sensed the tension in the air and he felt a bit out..numbered by all the women. Giving Tyven another smile he looked to Emi who had turned towards the white board and taking a couple steps went to greet her. He had no clue about the ...'situations' between the three girls. But he could tell Cleo and Tyv were close...and well he should introduce himself to the swan girl right?

"Hey there." He started looking at the young girl that friendly smile still on his face. "don't believe I have met you before. Names Chath." He introduced himself only faceing her side so that he could still acknowledge Cleo and Tyven.

Tyven raised a mute eyebrow, now obviously in instructor mode, not sister mode, and smoothly stepped over to the whiteboard as Turner disappeared, quietly picking up one of the black dry erase pens and uncapping it as she turned her back to them.

Another moment or two later and she stepped back, to the side, regarding her own slanted, elegant script before glancing back toward the other three d-corpers.

Her low, silky voice read aloud, calmly, expression neutral.

"Security is mostly a superstition." A slight smile. "It does not exist in nature nor do children as a whole experience it." Now, slitted eyes shifted to Emi, as if reminding her of their conversation, in which the snake had convinced the bird to take melee courses. "Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run, than outright exposure."

Capping the pen, she set it down and clasped her hands behind her back. "Life is either a daring adventure, or nothing. To keep our faces toward change and behave like free sprits in the presence of fate is strength undefeatable."

Now, Turner returned, a wide grin on her face as she caught the tail-end of the well-read snake's introduction. It was a quote, from Hellen Keller. Clapping her own hands together to get the youths' attention, she spoke.

"Welcome to Blind Zen."

"Ah - I, I'm sorry. It was rude not to introduce myself." Oh dear. Emis face rose a high pink with her own lack in manners and the boy introducing himself. She offered out a small hand, head cocked to the side. "I'm Emi Kuseth. It's nice to meet you, uhm, Chath."

She hesitated, worried her lower lip with her teeth. "Are you Lian's Chath? He's talked about - Oh." Tyven had started speaking. Emi let her hand drop and her body turn to face her cousin, wings flexing before pressing tight up against her frame. The snake was talking to her about lack of security, staring hard, and she flushed again.

"Blind - blind zen? What's zen?"

"So instead of Ninja," Cleo burst in, her eyes widening, "We get to be monks? They do the whole zen thing, right? Are we going to gouge out eyes? That would suck, I don't think D-Corp would approve."

Despite her morbid words, Turner was gifted with a bright smile, happy, dangerous eyes dancing behind the almost hamster-like round cheeks. Cleo wriggled her fingers.

Chath smiled at Emi, if that was one thing about him he was fiarly happy go lucky. It took quite a bit to anger him and he always liked giving someone a fair chance. When Lian's name was brought up he was about to respond but Tyven was speaking. So Lian new Emi? It had been a long long time since he had seen his red panda friend. Maybe too long...he should see about getting together with him sometime.

His head turned as he heard Cleo speaking. Gouge out eyes? Was it morbid of him to wonder if he could regenerate those? He was still smiling at her giggliness. He had never spent a lot of time with Cleo..he wondered if she was like this all the time.

He faced Tyven and the teacher his hands going to be shoved in his pockets.
"I hope no one minds but I will have to spritz myself every once and a while." He announced mostly to inform Turner.

"And this sounds pretty interesting." He agree'd with Cleo it did sound like fun.

Turner answered the questions, rather than Tyven, laughing delightedly at Cleo's cheerful, if morbid, ideas. "Oh, no. Not unless you have to, which you won't here. This is about becoming intimately aware of ones self and their surroundings. Tyven, here, is actually better than I am, hence her involvement in this course."

Nodding to Chath as she strode across the room, she briefly addressed his statement with "I'm aware from your file, feel free, boy." and moved toward a side door.

"Through here is a room with the capability to become pitch black. We'll lead you in, and then the lights will be cut, and you will need to pay close attention. Don't worry, though, Tyven's soothing voice will be there to guide you." Whether that was sarcasm or not was unclear, but the snake wasn't smiling.

"Well, hurry up you three! Unless you want to back out, which is perfectly alright. No harm in being a chicken, eh?" Funnily enough, there WEREN'T any chicken d-corp experiments... Yet.

The answer to Chath's question was : Yes, Chath. Yes, Cleo indeed remained this hyper and crazy a fair amount of the time. She didn't care (and Tyven seemed to find it endearing enough), but who knew how other people saw it.

Goldcrest in question rocked back on her heels, eyes bright on her sister.

"S'Not like I haven't been in t'dark with Tyvvie before! Right, Tyv?" A flash of a grin and a cheeky wink at Chath. "Bawk bawk." With a flick of oddly colored wings, Cleo flounced in front of her three other classmates, making a beeline to the side door Turner was invading.

"Tyven, Cleo might eat us," Emi's voice sounded a hiss towards the snake, her fingers still flexing. She loved her cousins, both of them, but... Ugh. She sighed, pressing her eyes to her fingers. "Oh well..."

A heavy sigh, and she followed in suit.

"What will we be doing in the dark?"

The idea of being in a pitch black room with three other girls was a bit daunting. But he knew and trusted Tyven and though he had only just met Cleo and Emi he didn't think he had anything to fear with those two. He wondered how well he would do. Honestly he was so sight oreintated having to deal with watching for subtle signs of attack from his dragon he didn't think being in the pitch black room would be of much benifit to him. He certianly wouldn't have an advantage anyway...

He went to spray himself down throughouly, he'd hate to accidentally drop this in the dark and be scrounging around for it.

"So will be be trying to hit each other in the dark?" He inquired as he moved along with the other's echoing almost a similar question the Emi asked.

A slight touch of cool fingers to Emi's wrist, and Tyven's serious eyes lingered on the swan for a long moment before she strode past the group of students, to the back wall of the room.

"No," Tyven's voice was calm, her posture perfect. The room was currently well lit, and empty, Turner bringing up the rear of their group and shutting the door softly behind them. "You will not be doing any striking. First comes silence, then awareness."

Turner laughed. "Don't be cryptic. What she means to say is that you're going to meditate first. Listen to the absence of sound, to the breathing of those around you. We're going to do awareness exercises, until you don't need to look to understand where something is in relation to your body."

A brief pause, and her hand went to the light switch.

"Tyven will be leading. If you have any questions, direct them toward her. Find a comfortable place to stand, at least five feet apart, and we'll get started."

The lights were cut as soon as they all complied.

Emi didn't try to stop the flush on her cheeks when Tyven took her wrist. She let that particular hand fall when the snake moved away, fingers flexing every so often. "Right," she said softly, eyebrows furrowed, "Meditating. Isn't that just sitting and breathing?"

She knew it wasn't the smartest of things, to insinuate that something Tyven did was less than thought out or necessary. She didn't do it often - ever - not since telling that the indigo girl gave off a 'male' vibe.

Keeping her big mouth shut for the rest of the time, Emi shambled over to her favorite cousin. The urge to grab onto Tyven for protection was great but, as instructed, she stood a strict five feet away. Five and one inch, to be precise, on the safe side.

"I don't like the dark," whispered the swan into the pitch.

Chath followed behind feeling very much like the third wheel. Everyone knew each other here and he only new Tyven. He still smiled walking along before he felt bad for Emi who addmitted as much as being scared of the dark.

He gave her a reassuring smile,
"Nothing to be scared of, we are all going to be near you so nothing bad will happen." He tried to reassure the swan before he did as instructed and stood far enough apart from the others.

"Can we sit for this?" He inquired before the lights were then turned off. He guessed it couldn't hurt...but then again if someone decided to shamble around in the dark he didn't want them tripping over him either. So he remained standing and awaited further instruction.
