Name:Alanna
Age: 16
Sex: Female
Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual
Craft: N/A
Rank: Candidate / Ex-Hold-brat-before-searched / thing you don't take seriously if you're 18-or-older
Physical Description: Short, at least in comparison to other girls (for anime-comparison, she'd be a little taller than Edward Elric and Hiei), with a mess of black hair that has ultimately been banished back into a ponytail. Her eyes are very brown and her complexion is that of a girl who has spent more than her share of time out in the sun. She's yet to have developed much of a 'womanly' shape and looks mostly like a box.
Personality: A 'bit' of a b***h, Alanna has a superiority complex a mile wide and feels highly entitled, despite her 'meager' history. In fact, she really has no reason to have a superiority complex, given her plain appearance, short stature, and less-than-impressive hand of talents, sans the few things she actually does shine in doing. Perhaps it's the ego of finally NOT being trapped underneath a layer of siblings that's given her her attitude.
Somewhere hidden in there she's second-guessing herself and hiding it well -- not that the super-observant wouldn't be able to see it.
She's horrible socially -- with those her own age she's awkward and not sure if she should try and get in on the conversation or if her 'better than thou' attitude would just get her snubbed out of everything. On the other hand, with those who are older she tries to play herself up a LOT to be more mature than she actually is. This ends up planting her right in a corner of saying something stupid or making herself look like an idiot. Alanna bounces back quickly (enough, she will be highly embarrassed by her idiocy like a human should be). However, as bad as her social skills actually are, she does at least try to throw herself out there (how else can she show off how much better she is?)
Stress isn't something that will beat her down either, actually working BETTER under stress than without it - kind of like the kid who has to wait until the night before to write a term paper. Stress gives her direction that she thrives with.
Her biggest character flaw is that she doesn't know when she should shove her foot in her mouth and call it a day, though. Instead, she has this bad tendency of saying offensive things.
History: One of six kids, and the youngest as well, Alanna was literally given the short end of the stick in terms of genetics and physical ability. Growing up as a 'hold brat', this didn't allow her to 'shine' in comparison to her elder siblings. Her oldest brother was married with a two-year-old brat, her other three brothers at least had the body strength to help with more physically taxing tasks and her sister was definitely much prettier than her.
However, when she was 'weeded out' (her words) on a search, her initial reaction was a big 'DO NOT WANT!!'. It was only when her father didn't give her a choice that she was thrust out into the local Weyr - to him he was giving her a chance to have a better life than competing with her siblings, to her she was being kicked out of the family. However, the 'shell shock' of being 'kicked out' of her family kicked her into a zone of 'I'M JUST TOO GOOD FOR THEM, I'LL SHOW THEM RAWR RAWR'. Frankly, she's yet to have proven anything to that end and actually tends to have bouts of second-guessing this -- at least in her head where nobody is watching
Pets: N/A
Other/Talents:
being a brat
- Leather working (mediocre) -- Nothing fancy, she has a simple knowledge on preserving hide and can make very basic things such as belts and sheathes. If she put more work into it and had some direction to improve, she'd probably be pretty good at this.
- Heavy lifting (FAIL FOR ANYTHING OVER 80LBS) -- For very heavy things it would help if she'd actually throw in the towel and admit she needs a helping hand.
- Pain Tolerance (HIGH) -- She definitely feels pain, but she also knows when her pains, no matter how much they hurt, need to be put on the back-burner because somebody else is hurt worse. She's not stupid enough to walk around in pain for days though.
- Cooking (Well it wouldn't kill anybody) -- Definitely not the postergirl for femininity. Good thing this isn't being left up to her.
-Observation (HIGH) -- When she shuts her mouth and opens her eyes, she actually notices a LOT of things. However, impractical details tend to be forgotten so if asked about something, she's only 80% accurate as to the little things.
-Vocabulary (HIGH AND WELL USED) -- Ever been sworn at in another language? Neither has Alanna. However, given the above trait, she does remember all of those big nasty words that are thrown around, along with other 'smart sounding' words, and throws them around herself (though sometimes incorrectly, oops)
- Adaptability (HIGH) -- She can adjust to a situation pretty quickly -- give or take what is 'quickly' for each scenario. If something requires her to adapt immediately, it may take her longer to actually adapt like she needs to in the given situation.
