Semira had settled into her new home rather well. It had been a week or so since she had come with her small pack. It had been hard for her at first, as she had a lot of problems coming out of her shell and talking to other lions. Now days though she was coming out of her shadows, which accommodated her wonderful black pelt, and talking to others.

Today Semira was walking around the swamps, enjoying the wonderful squishy sound her paws were making on the damp ground, after years of living in the middle of the desert she had fallen in love with her wonderfully wet new home. She smiled at a few lions who's faces she recognized, and a few she didn't. She was set at making some friends.

Semira settled underneath a large tree on the edge of the main pride lands, she was still in full view of all the lions in the pack, but here she felt a little less in the way of all the activity and she could lay down.

Bin'tope felt like he had been in a really long slumber, and was now waking up to a completely changed and renovated world. Of course, it was still the same place he had always remembered, but there were new faces to see and greet. Lions and lionesses he had never once seen before, and cubs that were now grown to respectable adults. It was amazing to think that he had let himself miss so much of it.

Wandering through the pride lands, he wondered about his family. He wondered what his mother was up to, and if any of his siblings had families of their own. It was weird to think about, but when he thought about it it was only logical. They were all grown now, and there wasn't anything stopping them from creating their own lives, away from their family.

A pang of sorrow ran through him as he remembered his family, and realized how much he missed them. He'd have to find them and see how they were doing.

But, for now, he contented himself to all the 'new' members of the pride. Continuing on in a random direction, he soon found himself almost at the edge of the pride's boundaries. Stopping for a moment, he took in all that was around him. That was when he noticed a dark female resting underneath a nearby tree. At first he thought he had been imagining it, and that he only saw shadows. But upon closer inspection he realized that the figure was moving and was indeed a living creature.

A little nervous, but still wanting to meet others, Bin'tope wandered closer but stopped a polite distance away. He noticed then that it was a female. Immediately interested, he put on his best smile and shook his mane.

"Hello there!"

Semira lifted her head peacefully, "Hello" she said quietly. She hadn't seen this lion around the pride before, but that meant little she did not know many members of the pride, she was only just starting to get to know members.

She decided to stand, thinking it was more proper in greeting someone new, she lacked in social graces as she had been alone for such a large part of her life. It did not occur to her, that perhaps her sudden stance might actually seem threatening. " I am Semria" she managed to stammer out, along with her greeting. She shifted her feet uneasily underneath her, this making new friends thing definitely did not come naturally to her. Looking up at the lion she waited for him to say something.

Having stopped some distance away, he took the time to look over the other. She seemed uneasy, as if she hadn't met very many lions before and thus wasn't sure about how to act. He could understand. Having left the pride early in his life, he hadn't had the chance to really learn how to socialize, so it was something that he had had to teach himself. He could sympathize, and something in him wanted to comfort her and reassure her that he wasn't going to harm her or make fun of her.

When she introduced himself, he let a grin pass over his mud-colored maw. Such a pretty name for such a pretty female. Her coat was nearly pure black, uninterrupted by any complex markings or coloring. It was simple, yet elegant all at once. And her eyes, such a striking red!

"It's a pleasure to meet you, Semira," he purred. "I'm Bin'tope. Well, Tekelezo now, since I've returned from my naming quest." He nodded slightly, as if his words needed reaffirming.

Seeing that she was at a loss for words, he decided to continue on. "So, have you been in the swamplands long, Semira?"

Semira felt a little more at easy listening to his friendly voice. "No I haven't been in the pride long, I joined only a little while ago with my family." She always referred to her group that she traveled with as her family, but in actuality they were a random group of lions that happened to meet up as a result of a random encounters. "Not that we really are related to each other." she told him, she didn't want to confuse him with her somewhat messed up life.

"We had been traveling for a long time looking for this pride." she told him. "As we traveled our group grew." her voice grew softer as she spoke of her family, they really did bring the best out in her. "What about you have you been here your whole life?"

Teke also relaxed upon seeing that he was somehow putting the other at ease. He felt a boost of confidence, and his ego grew slightly. He considered himself a ladies man, but he was also mannered enough to be polite and considerate towards the opposite sex.

When he learned that she was part of a new group that had recently joined the pride, he nodded and drifted off in his thoughts a little. He remembered hearing something about a group having found the pride, but he hadn't actually met any of them. Although, that could have been because he was almost avoiding other members of the pride. He had been gone a long time, and he was still trying to get back into the swing of pride life.

"That sounds nice," he purred. "It feels nice to not have to be alone all the time." He remembered his time away from the pride, and shuddered slightly. He had learned a lot about life, and if there was one thing that stuck in particular, it was that having others around was far easier and safer than being by yourself.

When asked if he had been here his entire life, he chuckled slightly. "I was born into this pride, but I wasn't always here. I wandered away when I was younger and found myself lost. I thought it was my naming quest, starting early, so I simply stayed away until I found my new name." He nodded, sage-like. "So now I've found my way back and I'm attempting to get back into the fold. But," he chuckled slightly, looking around himself," between you and me, I'm feeling a bit like a stranger in my own home. There's so many new faces!"

Hers among them, but he wasn't complaining about that. Hers was a pretty face indeed.

Semria was worried that perhaps he was unhappy about coming across her, she was after all another new face. But on the other paw he had come to talk to her, if he didn't want to talk to her then he wouldn't have come to her and started talking.

Semira listened to him talk about his naming quest. It was something she had heard other members of the pride talk about, but not something she would have to go on for awhile. It was something that interesting idea but at the same time it brought out fear in her that she would be alone again.

" I hope that I have a lot of time before I go on my naming quest." she told him honestly. "I know it is a great honor and everything but I have already spent so much of my life alone, I don't want to be alone any more." she looked up into the lions eyes, not wanting to drag him into the sadness of her life. It was hard for her sometimes, because for the most part all that she knew was sadness.

Bin'tope/Tekelezo hadn't thought about it before, and he hadn't really heard anyone else talk about their naming quests, so he didn't really put much importance on them. Sure, it was like a right of passage and was often a pivotal point in every young swamplander's life, but after having gone through it, he wasn't all that excited about it. Maybe he hadn't done his correctly, or he just simply didn't make it all that amazing.

When she admitted that she didn't want to go on her naming quest right away, the male tilted his head slightly. He didn't know the rules concerning the naming quest when it came to adults that had joined the pride. Did they still go on naming quests? His head reeled, and he realized that he had been away for far too long. He was beginning to forget the very structure of his pride!

A forlorn look crawled across his face as she revealed the underlying reason as to why she didn't want to go on the quest; she simply didn't want to be alone.

But he attempted to cheer her up by saying, "You aren't really alone. I mean, sure, you leave alone, but there are so many other lions out there to meet and to befriend, that it's almost as if you were never alone." He didn't know this from actual experience, but he figured it had to be like that for some lions, right?

"I'm sure you'll do fine on your quest."

(( Total fail on my part, you are right new members don't have to go on naming quests))

Semira nodded at him, she guessed technically she wouldn't be alone and she could meet others, but she had such trouble meeting other lions, it had taken her years to find the group she joined the pride with.

"How long have you been back in the pride?" she asked the other lion. She was interested in getting to know him better, it wasn't often that she talked to the opposite sex, other then the ones in her make shift family, and she only really began to talk to them because they constantly were together and they had to work together in order to make it to the pride.

She looked up at him with her red eyes, she hoped he didn't find him dreadful.

Tekelezo felt comfortable around this female, content to simply talk. For once, his casanova impulses didn't kick in, and he managed to maintain a relatively interesting conversation. Miracles did happen.

When asked how long he had been back, he thought about it for a few moments. He couldn't remember the number of days, but he didn't feel like he was actually back in the pride. He had simply been lurking around the edges, trying to figure out the best time to present himself. So far, his nerves had failed him and he remained outcasted on the edges of the pride. But he couldn't let her see his fear of rejoining the pride. Clearing his throat, he lifted his head proudly.

"Not very long, in fact. I recently worked my way back to the pride and I've only been here for a few days." Lucky her, she was the first swampie he had encountered since 'returning.'

Wanting to turn the conversation back to her, however, he cleared his throat once more and eyed her curiously. "Have you settled in nicely?"

Semira smiled he had only been back in his home for nearly the same length of time Semira had been here to make it her own home. "I have began to settle in quite nicely actually." Semria said looking around her at the pride. It was starting to bustle with activity.

"It was a hard transistion to make at first. I spent much of my life alone after my childhood pride was raided and I was separated from my family. It was only after I was almost an adult that I met up with my group." Semira smiled thinking about them, "My family." she stated.

"Its very different being here around so many others. I like to stay to myself mostly to the edges. But I am starting to meet others, make friends." she looked up at the lion, perhaps he could be a friend.

Bin smiled and nodded slightly, knowing very well what the female was talking about. He had been on his naming quest from a young age, and had only recently managed his way back into the pride. He knew full well the stark difference between being alone and being within the hustle and bustle of a pride. It was almost too different to comprehend. Once moment you're alone, and the next you're in the middle of a big crowd.

"I understand completely," he spoke, chuckling slightly. "Coming back from my naming quest was a bit of a shocker. I never realized how many lions there could be in one place!"

When she called the group she had traveled with her family, he looked at his paws, remembering his family. He hadn't seen or heard from them since he had disappeared, and he wondered if they were all still in the swamplands. He wondered about his mother and his siblings, and if his twin had a family of his own. So many questions, and he was unsure if he would ever find any answers.

But he tried not to be so sadcheeks, so he smiled once more at the female. "It's good to mingle," he spoke, nodding. "I suppose I should do a bit of that myself." He cleared his throat. "I've been gone a long time."

"I'm not sure that you would call what I do mingling. Most of the others I have met occurred the same way I met you. They stumble over me sitting in the shadows" she smiled at the other lion.

She noticed a hint of a tone in his voice when he talked about having to mingle himself, "I hope that I am not keeping you from others." she looked at him sweetly. She was quite enjoying his company he was very relaxing.

((Sorry for the short tag. I am tired but didn't want you to have to wait.))

The mud-colored male nodded his head slightly, understanding what she was talking about. "Some of the best friends are made that way, though," he spoke, chuckling slightly. "Chance encounters that lead to a lifetime of trust and friendship." He looked off into the sky at the thought, wishing he had made some friends on his naming quest. But, alas, he hadn't been very social, and was left alone.

But he turned his attention back to her and smiled sheepishly. "Not that I would know. I just... it sounds like that's what would happen."

When she admitted that she hoped she wasn't keeping him from anyone, he flashed another charming smile and shook his head. "Don't worry about it. I'm completely free. No previous engagements." He laughed slightly at his own thoughts, then tilted his head slightly at her.

"I hope I'm not keeping you from anyone either." He hadn't even thought of the possibility that she might want to go back to her "family" or even that she could possibly have a mate somewhere. Thinking of that made him blush, for he thought himself a lady's man but had never really wanted to be that other male. He hoped she was loyal and had good intentions. Although, from what she had told him and through the time he had spent with her, he could almost figure that she didn't have a significant other.

Semria smiled at the other lion, it was almost laughable that he though he could possibly be keeping her from anyone. The only ones she would go to see would be her 'family' and well they were off doing their own thing, learning all they could about the pride they were making their new home.

"No you aren't keeping me from anyone." she told him. She wanted to spend some more time with this lion. She realized she knew very little about him but there was something that made her interested in him. She decided to ask him more about his naming quest, after all from her understanding that is when a lion was to find him or herself.

"When you left the pride were you able to learn all that you felt you needed to before coming back here? Did you meet anyone interesting." she had tried to ease the question through, trying to find out perhaps if he had a mate, she felt silly for wondering at all. It was only recently that she was even beginning to notice the opposite sex in that way even though she had been an adult for sometime, she had never trusted anyone well enough to think of them in that way. But since she had been in the pride, she had had a couple of 'interesting' encounters.
