Various instruments, vials, tools, papers, etc litter the many tables in this large area. Mechanical devices are abundant, there is a surgery table strictly for Hei's self-experimentation, there is an incubator, there is a centrifuge as well as several other devices. A large, vaguely human-like doll sits in one of the corners. There are shelves upon shelves of objects, poisons, medicines, and the like. There is a Chemical Bath and an Emergency Wash Station and also a large glass tube, and its purpose is unknown. Several plugs litter the walls in order for Hei's laptop to work. In the back room, there is a large computer console used to store information on all findings.
It is hidden behind a high security vault door, and only those in the 12th Division have the access cards that permit entry into the building. Inside it has several sections, each one blocked off depending on the security clearance of those entering. There are areas where only the Captain may enter, and those are the most top secret projects that the Soul Society has commissioned.

A large steel door opened to show Tsukiko pushing at the other side with a single finger, letting her Captain into the room. She looked all around and then made her way over to one of the tables where she hopped into a stool and began tinkering with some chemicals. Hei shut the door behind him and made his way towards a shelf where he plucked three vials off it and then scurried over to his surgery table. Casting off his haori and letting the top half of his shihakusho hang to the ground, he sat on the edge of the surgery table and then leaned back and stared at the ceiling for a second. He pulled a syringe off of the nearby table and slid the needle into the vial's cork, drawing out the liquid on the inside. When he was done, he located one of his veins in his stomach and slid the needle into it and injected the contents of the syringe into his bloodstream and waited for it to take effect.

❝i don't have dreams how can i say it i myself am a dream❞ -hamasaki ayumi [from eighth division captain's office]
Things were different since Aizen's death. Hikaru had expected the war to last so much longer than it actually had. Well, she had learned long ago not to be surprised about things that didn't happen when they were supposed to. All the captains were supposed to come back after the war but they didn't. It came as a shock to the Sereitei when most of the captains just left without much notice, it had been a pain to find new leaders, Hikaru being one of them. It had been a very slow life now that she was the captain. It wasn't as much fun to do her job anymore now that she was in charge. All that she ever did was paperwork and more paperwork. Drinking games were the only things that were exciting now. Her captain's uniform barely moved as she slowly walked down the external halls of the squad building. It was an extremely boring day, and it was as if nothing could cure it. Her zanpakuto, Tsukibakemono was small today. Just barely the size of a standard wazikashi. He was irritated. Why? Hikaru had stayed up all night drinking and whatnot. For now, until he calmed down, he would stay small. As she passed by, all her squad members bowed and respectfully greeted her. Ugh. She missed the old days where she was one of them. "What a horribly boring day."
Hikaru was sick of her moping attitude. This is what happened when she drank too much. It was something she had done for as long as she could remember. No one actually knew why she did, and it would stay that way for as long as she could. No one needed to know why she suffered countless nights of no sleep, and days spent in loneliness and heartbreak. Well, she needed to get her mind off of this, and why not go bug a fellow captain. Hasake sounded like a fun captain to annoy. Plus she could ask him for a favor. Or at least a challenge. He was the type of guy not to turn down a challenge. Her pace quickened, although not by much, to the twelfth division.
It felt weird to walk around where one didn't belong. Her haori fluttered as she walked down the open halls. Here too the squad members saluted her out of respect, but she didn't repond the way she did to her subordinates. Their was only one place where she was headed. The laboratory. That was where anyone could find him. Walkingup to the door, she could tell by the sounds inside that he was there. If only she had a card to get in. She would have to swipe one off of him one day. Knocking in the door, she hoped that he would open the door instead of yelling and telling her to go away. "Hasake-tan, it's me, Hikaru~!"

The numbness came early this time, maybe Tsukiko hadn't diluted the formula just right. He had picked a scalpel from off the table next to him and had already slid it into his abdomen when he felt a reiatsu approaching, moments later, there came a knock at the door and muffled words. He let out an exasperated moan and looked over to his Vice Captain who was clacking away at a keyboard hooked up to a desktop. "Tsukiko..." Looking back to himself he continued with the incision he had intended to make before the interruption. "On it..." She struck a key and Hikaru's face appeared on the screen. In about a minute, Hei had finished opening up his abdomen and was now tinkering with his own insides. "Let her in." He sighed after having viewed the screen and recognized the woman. Tsukiko nodded and slid off her chair, calmly walking over to the steel door. She punched a series of numbers on the keypad and after it clicked, she pulled it open with little effort, despite it's size. "Father is on the table..." She turned away and slipped back to her work station, erasing Hikaru's face from the screen and continuing with her work. "Well well, if it isn't cow boobs." He said with a sadistic grin before turning back to his organs.

❝i don't have dreams how can i say it i myself am a dream❞ -hamasaki ayumi While waiting at the door, Hikaru couldn't help but fiddle around with her left ring finger. On her skin it looked like a ring belonged their, but their was none. Ever since day, she had stopped wearing her ring and was now on the hilt of her sword. It was a fine addition to her sword, but some days she missed wearing it. Then people would start asking questions, and she wasn't going to give them answers, but she didn't worry about him asking. He, like all the other captains, knew. Then the door opened. It was the lieutenant, Tsukiko. It wasn't hard to tell that Hikaru was terrified of that little girl in her own way. After all she did work for a mad scientist like Hei, even though she was his child. Plus their were her eyes. One couldn't help but look in awe at how odd they seemed. Walking in, she laughed at Hei's joke about her breasts. Yes they were big, but he didn't need to make fun of them. "Don't be so jealous of my boobs Hei-kun. You are just sad because Tsukiko-chan didn't come out with ones half as big as mine." She said it with an air of jester, not trying to be rude to the girl. Turning to her at the computer, she winked and turned her attention to the captain.
Walking closer, she didn't see the fact that he was opened up until she got closer. Hikaru had just assumed that Tsukiko had meant that he was on the table, giving himself an exam, not sitting their with his guts hanging out. Stopping in mid-step, her body tensed up. Hikaru was a hemophobe. She couldn't stand the sight of blood in the slightest bit. A nose bleed would send her skin crawling. Before the incident, she had been fine around blood but it brought back the worst memories she had. It took her a few seconds to turn away. Bringing her focus off the blood, she began to look at the vials and tubes on the counters, making sure to stay feet away from every item, hoping not to touch anything. Who knew what all those items did. She wasn't going to find out. With her back to the scientist, she acted like she was interested in the items around the room. "Hakase-kun, I have a challenge for you. Something that you would be willing to do for me. I want you to bring back a deceased soul."

Tsukiko stared at Hikaru's reflection in her monitor and stopped typing after the captain spoke of her in such a way. She then spoke in her usual monotone manner. "The design of my father is absolute. Besides, I'm naught but 7 years old, large breasts would be quite odd on me, wouldn't you agree?" She let out a sigh of annoyance and returned to her work. "I've told you to address me formally every single time. That's Hakase, you unpleasant woman." Hei said, ignoring her request for the moment, he picked up one of the vials that he had taken from the shelves and put it next to him. He stuck a syringe into the cork and drew the liquid from it and then injected it into the vein he was holding up with a hooked tool. When he pulled the needle away, some of the liquid fell onto the table and burned a hole into it and the floor below it immediately. Paying no mind to this, he finished what he was doing and began to stitch himself up. It was done expertly, as he had done this many times over. He poked the area in question, and given that he felt the pressure, he knew that the nerves had gone undamaged and thus, the operation was a success. The wound made by Shroud had been lost with the time and forgotten until just now. It was a shallow cut, barely enough to draw blood. Seeing as he didn't want to bandage it, he ignored it and swung his legs to the side and let them hang off the edge. He would have his sister erase the imperfections from his skin at a later time. He was now looking over to the large-chested captain in his lab. "Girlie, you can turn around now." He flashed yet another sadistic grin in regards to her fear of blood, but it quickly vanished. "What's this about necromancy?" His fingers twitched slightly at the prospect of being able to cheat the laws of the world once more. He gripped the edge of the table and his knuckles began to turn white from the pressure.

❝i don't have dreams how can i say it i myself am a dream❞ -hamasaki ayumi These two could just not take a joke. Hikaru folded her bare arms across her chest when they both made logical remarks about her statement. These two needed to lighten up. Their were so many similarities these two had in common with the last captain and his lieutenant. It was almost like history was repeating itself. The same could be said about Hikaru and her squad, but she didn't see herself as good as the last captain, Kyoraku. "Girlie?! What would make you say that?" What a mean thing to say. Maybe they were just getting annoyed of her and wanted to get her to leave. It had only been about five minutes since she entered. Grabbing her sake bottle from her side, she took a quick swig and kept it in her hands as she tried to explain what she wanted from Hakase. "You heard me. I think it would be a great boost to your self-esteem and legacy if you went through with this. Their has to be a way to bring back the dead and talk to them. Maybe even touch them." Nothing worked better than trying to bribe a person with the rewards of their name forever etched into the fabric of history. She could tell from his death grip on the table that he was interested. That was a good start.

"Such an unpleasant woman you are. Dangling prospects of such things in my face." He dropped down off the table and slipped his arms into his shihakusho. Afterward, he picked up his haori and draped it over his shoulders, not bothering to put it on all the way. "Souls disappear when they die." Tsukiko said softly without looking up from her work. "There is that..." His hands went to the tie that held up his long, black hair. He pulled at it and released it from it's prison. It fell over his shoulders and he then tucked the left side behind his ear. "Doesn't seem very likely that a soul could be revived." After a few seconds of simply staring at her, he turned and began putting away his stuff, dropping the empty vials and used syringes into a hazardous waste basket. "Unless... you know something that I don't." He twitched his fingers and then curled them into fists and turned around.

❝i don't have dreams how can i say it i myself am a dream❞ -hamasaki ayumi That idea had been shot down faster than she could blink. Damn scientists who always shot certain ideas down because it didn't seem logical. With her arms still folded, and now a pouty face, she now felt stupid for even suggesting the idea. She was being a little bit selfish with this act, and she knew it. Ah well. It's not like it would hurt anyone. If she could get Hei to make it, she would have his brain in a vice for who knew how long until he solved the problem. "Some souls after dying are reincarnated. They are souls that were strong in this life, with strong reiatsu and a will power to match. At least, that was that I was told." With that, she put her sake bottle back on her waist and headed for the door. She wasn't going to waste his time anymore than she already had. Plus, he might just open himself up again, and that meant blood. Ugh. Blood. Opening the door, she saved her hand without so much as turning around. "Ja matte-ne Hei-kun." Another blatant disregard for the fact that he hated her calling him that, but she was leaving, so who cared?

"I never said it was impossible, unpleasant woman." He chuckled as she left, not even bothering to wonder if she had heard or not. "Bye then..." Turning to Tsukiko, he raised a brow and leaned up against the table. "What do you think?" She looked up from her work, and simply shook her head. "Maybe... I know no more than you. I'd have to research the daireishokairo for more information." She gave a little sigh and turned her head to see if the woman was gone yet. Her father had always had a knack for driving people away and he had done it once more. Hei nodded a bit and turned his head to the side. Necromancy had never really crossed his mind. One would be nuts to think he would bother even trying to reattach a soul to it's body in the living realm, and since souls disappear when they die in the Soul Society, he had never really given the matter much thought.

Hearing nothing, Hei had to assume she had left. "Pity... I'll try the thing on my own then, might have been easier with her help though." He strode away from his current position and went over to his table. His current project was sitting on his desk, surrounded by a glass dome. Withing this dome was a small, purple bracelet that acted much like his own Reiatsu Yokuatsu Gaitou. It that it allowed the wearer to more easily train to conceal their presence by shutting off their reiatsu. It was metal, steel to be more exact and it was hanging on a hook inside the dome. He opened the dome, removed the bracelet, and opened it up so that he may begin to tinker with the invention. It wasn't complete yet, it still had a few bugs left to work out. For a several minutes, he sat tinkering with it and didn't look up until his Vice Captain expressed that she had made an error. He didn't get much of a chance to look up though, as there was an explosion that sent him and Tsukiko flying out of the glass roof of the Laboratory. Almost everything in the lab was left unharmed as they were protected by scientifically-engineered reiatsu barriers, but the papers that littered the desks were burned to a crisp. Hei and Tsukiko landed in the 3rd Division training grounds some minutes later.

"I really have to get an assistant for this." Hibiki thought as he stood at the 12th division's main door. He sighed before knocking on the door, but before his hand could even touch the surface of the door he felt the slight vibration of an explosion. 'Damn' fearing the worst he tried to open the door but failed as it was locked. "As expected of Hei." he then decided to run outside only to see the two comets of smoke, believing them to be Hei and his lieutenant, Hibiki followed them. 'Dammit Hei, you're not getting away from me. You still haven't given me your goddam report.'

Hei and Tsukiko arrived in the same manner they had left the 3rd Division's Training Grounds. There was a flash of light and a sonic boom as the air where they entered was displaced and shot outwards. Hei let out a sigh and fell forward onto the ground almost immediately upon entering. He let out a muffled groan as he breathed into the floor, signifying that he had been cleverly masking the pain of his broken ribs. 7 of them were broken, to be exact. Well that's just what you get when you are careless and fall from over 500 feet in the air. There was a click as the white katana fully entered it's sheath and Hei released his grip upon the hilt. Tsukiko let out a small sigh and shook her head at Hei's actions. Despite her size, she effortlessly lifted him up, set him onto his own surgery table, climbed up as well, and began to rummage through his shihakusho until she found a flattened plastic tube, tipped with a syringe and filled with green liquid. After pulling back his shihakusho, she located the middle broken rib, plunged the needle into his skin and emptied the contents of the tube into his body. After that was done she pushed his robes back up and slid off the table and sat in the corner while she waited for Hei to get back up again. For the time being, she too sealed her own Zanpakuto, seeing as she had no use for it at the moment.

As Hei finally rose from the table, he shook his head and stared off at the lab. The papers had been burned, but they could be replaced. everything was either committed to memory or saved to the computer. thank goodness he had created reiatsu barriers for everything, otherwise, he would have been screwed pretty royally. Maybe not so bad in hindsight, most things were resistant to fire and shock and everything else was stored in the warehouse. he slid off the table and noticed that Tsukiko was slumped over and lightly snoring like a little girl would. She was seven, after all, it was to be expected that she might sleep mid-day. He strolled over to the computer and for the next several minutes was looking up a formula of his own design. Once he had found it, he printed it off and began gathering the ingredients for it.
