Few days ago, the management said there would be a "termite" inspection which, in California, means your apartment gets turned upside-down and a report is written up about everything but termites. Well, the manager led a whole troupe of inspectors in, all of whom had heavy kraut* accents today. It was absolutely surreal.
*To those of you who don't speak Yiddish, kraut actually comes from the Aramaic word for "gentile neighbor". When adopted by goyim, it became hostile, though from a Yiddish speaker, it's not necessarily.

Behatzlacha-S Unt zhe vere satisfied, ja? They checked every closet and went through all the rooms. They didn't find the kippa under the bed, the tallit in the refrigerator or the termites under the stove, though. We sure put it past dem Daychn.

They didn't find the kippa under the bed, the tallit in the refrigerator or the termites under the stove, though. We sure put it past dem Daychn. For some reason the image of a tallis hidden from a serious-looking SS member in a cake in the fridge amused me so much as to lol.
