To My Journal,

Let me retrace the story that got me into the mysterious adventure of the Lanturns and the amazing developments!

Xenos

I backed up slowly as it all seemed a little suspisious, but I realized that I was spotted when one of the gentlemen noticed me. His facial features distorded by the shadows or was my mind playing tricks on me.

"Pretty lady, come look at my lanturns, these beautiful, mysterious lantruns looking for a good home to brighten with their light and spirit," the one on the left voice seemed to have a seductive tone to it.

"No, no, do not fall for his mischief and lies, my lanturns give you a bright glow and a loving warm that you would never have a terrible memory to remember," the man on the right said moving to display a blue lanturn.

"I just saw this light and it drew me to the stands," I said almost in a whisper. "I didn't even think to buy one... but these are so beautiful, I could use a nice one for my studio."

"A studio, well you need this pink glow of the red," The man on the left pushed toward me. "It's beauty will surely inspire a grand master piece."

"Well, I don't know, I mean I just don't know..." I felt nervous as these two tried to convince me.

The man on the right laughed, "Don't listen this blue lanturn will take all of your skills and focus your soul into your work..." his grinned could be seen from the glow. That chesire grin was haunting.

I walked to the right and as I did, "Surely, you do not trust a fellow who grins like that?" the man on the left spoke solumnly. "You wish for grand work with your heart into it take this lanturn."

I watched as each reached and pleaded to me as I stood now in the center of the shops. I looked at both men and took a deep breath pulled out a gold coin from my mother and tossed it into the air.

I watched as the man on the left dropped the lanturn and the man on the right moved not an inch to catch the coin.

"Sir..." I move to the man on the right, "You truly adore your lanturns more than my money, I will take your lanturn. You did not go for the gold coin that is presious to me, but stood and held the lanturn with care as the other gentleman jumped for the gold and did not notice his lanturn crash to the ground."

I nodded as I picked up the blue lanturn, paid and headed home for I had much to do.

Wow, looking back here and reviewing what I did I was kind of not nice, but that was fair right? ~looks at the lanturn sitting next to her~ The surprising thing is that how's decided I was to name her!
PostPosted: Wed Nov 16, 2005 7:42 am

Hikari sits on the desk where Xenos was writing in the book that was given to her by the gentleman,

This is an interesting little lamp. ~pauses a moment to admire Hikari's glow~ He had asked me to name her. I had taken Japanes a few years back and slowly went through the words that I had learned and filtered them out into groups for the words associated with light and glow. Hikari was the last name that I would have named her because it means light, just that light and nothing more, but as I watched the lanturn as whispered it she seemed to glow brighter and so I really had no choice in that matter she picked it.

~Hikari glowed warmly as Xenos watched the motions of the light that danced~ I understand that these are not usual lanturns and that they have some kind of spirit but I did not expect it to be this way when they had explained it. She does seem to have a personality of her own. She glows bright when she feels happily and excited with a warmth that is undescribable but is simpily warm. Her color will change from a pink to a reddish glow if she switches moods.

I'm not without her and I love having her around, my curious is sparked and am very interested in what develops from this little lanturn.

Hikari sits by Xenos on the table as she continues to record events.

It was a bit unsual, as I meet more people I find that we are all a bit clueless to the events that led to us having our lanturns. It is also evident that each lanturn reacts to the others differently. Some may bright and bring forth a wonderous glow while others will take on a kind of harsh nature and going so far as to burn the owner, if you could even consider us that. We are more of caretakers to these little sprites.

With these kind of knowledge and events that have occured, it should be the least bit odd that seeing the magenta child with her lanturn and her singing tunes that eventually lead you to follow is a course of new light. No pun intended.

That was unusually weird occurance and have not had anything of such nature happen again though there are these children-like spirits that hold a lanturn of the same nature. They walk and talk as we do and eat as well, but nothing else has happened and my notice of these events bring out some curiousity on my part.

Hikati glows with a terrible brightness.

Hikari acts amazing and throws me for a loop. In fact this brings me to wonder at what possible ascention being such as this lanturn could hold. She appears so good natured even when nothing good could possibly be there she appears to glow bright with a hope that is undying.

It's facinating to me really. The fact is when there is something wrong with others she brightens her glow and brings some interesting reactions. People notice her when they seem sad, she just seems to bring smiles to there faces.

I wonder if Hikari tries to communicate. Her series of glows do explain what she is feeling. Her series of glows range across from short flickers to a long, bright glow. Depending of course what is going on for interptation of what is going on. She has a way of havng her ideas explained and what is odd is that I understand her no matter what is going on.

Events have changed!?

Xenos had retired late to bed with Hikari in tow as she struggled up the stairs toward her bed. It was a rather struggling event to have the lanturn in hand while trying to change clothes but Xenos had managed to do so with a great deal of skill now.

She watched carefully as she placed Hikari on a table that she had found that was perfect for her lanturn, it had accented her, well. The cherry wood finish seemed to glow pink with Hikari's warmth.

Retiring to bed with Hikari near by safe and sound Xenos yawned and cuddled into the blankets, she would hope to get enough sleep to take Hikari to the park again so that she could get more pictures done of the strange and wonderful little lanturn.

This, of course, would change...

Hikari appears!

Xenos had been working in the garden when she heard the sound of something breaking where she had left Hikari. She ran to the porch and sitting the broken piece of the once small bamboo table sat a small girl. She was curious and looking everywhere with her large eyes.

"Oh my..." Xenos had no word to finish that sentence off, in fact, she probably would have fainted had the little girl not started to cry. "Oh...come here..." Xenos cuddled her softly.

"Xeno?" the little one said carefully as she was wary of the world.

"Yes, that's right," Xenos pulled away and found a cloth in her pocket and wiped her eyes.

"I ..." Hikari looked confused but smiled.

"Hikari, that's you..." Xenos smiled. "My little Light."

Hikari grinned wide as she realized that Xenos was laughing. She seemed to start laughing as well.

"Well, now that you have grown, what can I do with you?!" She picked up the piece of the broken table. "I can't have you sitting on the table from now on, can I?! No that would be silly. I guess we can build a bed for you!"

Hikari blinked in unsure notion of what a bed was, "Huh?"

"That's alright, I'll explain the point of the bed and what you will be doing with it," Xenos smiled and she picked up Hikari and walked to the storage in the back.

Hikari and lessons:

Xenos was rather strict when it came to the matter dealing with Hikari's ability to enjoy the world around. It was a simple idea, if you don't know what is around you how will you enjoy it? She had been working with old children's books and found it rather funny that she was actually going to use them for the purpose that was instructed for them.

"Now Hikari, reading is important and can be very discouraging at times because you are just learning and you may feel you want to know already," she was trying to explain the best she could.

Hikari blinked at the letters before her. The book was simple, it had a letter on each page, when the letter was pressed it would make the sound that the letter would make alone. It seemed simple enough.

"Now you will sit here and I will continue to paint but if you have a problem you ask, okay?" Xenos wiped away the paint smug on her glasses and waited for her to respond.

Hikari was so tense with the anticipation of learning that she simply noded and hoped that Xenos would just let her start.

Taking her hint Xenos went back to the canvas and it's under drawing where she quickly scrubbed it dry and started again. She would get it right if it killed her.

Hikari examined the book carefully flipping it back and forth in her hands will she listened to the pages turn. She flipped through quickly and then stared for a few moments. This was most fasinating to her. The sound of the voice when she accidently pressed a letter caused her to jump and drop the book, but she simply shivered a moment and retreived it so that her exploration could continue.

Finally closing the book she took a deep breath and started on the first page, there was nothing there but a large, red A. She studied the lines and traced them carefully her fingers. She stopped a moment and pressed the A.

"A sounds like this aaaaa," the man's voice said softly. "Now make the sound with me, aaaaaa. A."

Hikari voiced squeaked out in tiny breathes, "a..aaa... A." She was unsure that she had made the sound right so pressed the button again and listened carefully. "Aaaaaa....A," she repeated, proud that she got the sound down she ran to Xenos, "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!"

Xenos tried hard not to laugh at Hikari's sound and her sudden need for approval, but she indulged the idea and smiled when the child came, "Yes, A is an aaaaa sound." She nodded with approval and this reassured Hikari enough to return to her studies.

This practice would take time, Xenos thought quietly as she dove into the paints and work wildy with the canvas. She will get the hang of this quicker then I can teach.

Tea party

"Well it seems like we're a bit early..." Tayne said as she looked around the main room of the shop with its many treats and chairs. She looked at her piece of paper again, then to her watch. It was the time the paper had requested. The whole 'party' scene never really went well with Tayne, but having Mikomi to look after now, she wanted to change that.

And this get-together just might be what the doctor ordered...

The purple-ish gray girl peeked out from behind Tayne's legs. No one was around at the moment...

Good...

It wasn't that she didn't like people, she just didn't like new ones. Once they no longer new she didn't have such a hard time talking to them. She was still quiet... but not as frightened to ask them a question or talk to them for a little bit.

A party didn't sound like very much fun, but Tayne had insisted, so finally the girl gave in.

Peering around, Mikomi saw that they had tea and punch. She wasn't all that crazy for the cold sweet liquid, but she enjoyed tea.

"Mama? Could I have a cup?"

Hakari swaned into the room all draped in red silk and a large feathered hat. Her long black hair was done up in tight curls about her head as she cast her bright red eyes around the room, humming lightly to herself as she set a cushion to rights here and swiping a piece of dust off the glass and metal wrought table with a spare cloth. She turned and smiled as she heard someone enter.
"Good afternoon." She said with a graceful nodd of her head.

Tayne opened her mouth, about to reply to Mikomi's request, but the voice of another caught her off-gaurd. Flushing slightly, she swallowed her fear and looked to see who it was. It was Hakari, the woman who had aided in her recovery when she and her son, Sinn, found her that cold winter's night.

"Hello there. Thank you for the invitation," she said, nodding her head slightly with gratitude. Looking down, she saw Mikomi clinging to her legs, peering at the woman with fright.

Rubbing at his nose, sighing at the cold, Tea tried his best to remember the directions. He'd spotted the invitation near the booth where he'd purchased Kama's lanturn, and the young boy seemed rather agreeable about going.

Tugging his jacket into place, wrapped chin deep in a thick scarf, Tea held his little paper bag in one hand and opened the door after only a little fumbling. "We're here! After you."

With a nod, Kama entered and drifted into the room. His eyes settled first on the table, then rose to the magnificent sight of a woman in red. It only took Tea a few moments to spot the same things.

"Oh, goodness. I, um..." Suddenly, he felt painfully under dressed. A bit more color leaping to his cold cheeks, Tea set the bag down near the snack table and raised one hand awkwardly. "Hi! Hi there. I'm Tea, and this is Kama."

Kama seemed far less nervous, and drifted into the room. His delicate wings fluttered idly, creating a gentle stir. As the ribbon around him coiled, he turned slowly and peered at each party goer in turn.

"Hello..."

Xenos walked in quietly with Hikari in tow or was it Hikari towing her.

Hikari was excited, "Come on, come on, new friends, tea and cakes!!!" She was excited bobbing her head and swingiong her pig tails.

They entered the main room.

"Hello? Is there anyone here? Do we just make ourselves comfortable?" Xenos looked about.

Tayne's eyes went over towards the man and the winged boy as they entered. Now these two she hadn't met before. She kept quiet for a little bit, wondering what she should do.

Some example I'm setting... Her spirit perked up at the sound of his introduction. It was always easier for her to start talking to someone if they started first.

"Hello there... Tea... My name it Tayne. The little one behind me is Mikomi..." she started, still slightly unnerved by the situation.

Rome wasn't built in a day after all.

Bright eyes peered at the boy with wings from behind the legs of her adopted parent. She thought that they were quite pretty, but she would never actually tell him that.

He was new after all.

Instead she just watched from where she was, trying not to draw too much attention to herself. Heaven forbid that she would have to talk to anyone else.

Maybe if she watched long enough... they wouldn't be new anymore. Then she could talk to them.

Yeah... That sounded like a plan

"Tayne? That's unique! I mean, it's...pretty! I mean..." Waving one hand in an effort to dispell his stuttering, Tea settled for pulling a few small jars out of his paper bag.

"Yeah! Um...I brought some honey! Lots of honey, actually." Peering up, first at Tayne, then at the others in the room (Women! Why all women?!) Tea smiled a bit unevenly and fished out one more jar...finally withdrawing a bundle of leafy greens. "And some fresh mint! So please...um, feel free!"

Patting Tea gently on the arm as he passed, Kama fluttered a tiny bit closer to the snack table. Tea never had anything but cereal and macaroni. So it felt somedays, at least. Picking a tiny heart shaped cookie from the table, Kama studied it for a moment before placing it on a dainty white napkin, and raising his eyes to Mikomi.

This is for you, he said silently with nothing more than a smile and a point. For himself, he took a second, and wrapped it in a napkin as well. As others entered, Kama turned...fluttering a bit higher in an effort to see. One hand raised in a small wave to Hikari as she flounced in.

"Well met!" An odd thing to say, but then, Kama had an odd teacher.

Tayne laughed slightly at Tea's attempt to speak straight. It seemed like he was having a harder time then she was with talking to the others.

"Thank you..." she said, flushing at his comment on her name. He seemed nice enough.

"Did you grow the mint yourself?" she asked, trying to pick up conversation.

Mikomi blinked confusidly as the butterfly boy pointed at the heart cookie. What did me mean by that. As he picked up the second one though, she had a pretty good idea.

Slowly letting go of her grasp on Tayne's legs, she slowly moved over to the table where Kama was standing. She clung to her arm in slight fright, keeping her eyes low.

But if Tayne could do it, so could she.

"He...hello" was all her timid little voice could muster.

Xenos shrugged with the relax state of mind, she grabbed a cup and handed one to Hikari. She passed her a cake as well and went toward the seating area where she saw the others. They all had not met before, she was pretty sure of that.

Hikari was excited but carefully carried her tea and cake, she saw the others but became very shy for a moment, she was not really sure if she should talk with them. It was important to sit before trying to make polite conversation, she was sure it would not be good to run up and spill tea on anyone so she followed Xenos to a seat to set herself up.

Shaking his head, Tea plucked a leaf from the sprig...popping it right into his mouth. Munching on the raw mint, he shrugged with a smile. "Well, kind of. My landlady grew it, but I'm the only one that remembers to water it. Can I...er...fix you a cup of tea? Cream and honey?" Motioning back to the table, since he was headed to fix one himself, Tea tried on another small smile for size. Everyone here was so...nice!

Kama nibbled at his cookie, still watching Hikari until Mikomi floated closer. He tilted his head at the greeting, and took another small bite.

Should he say hello back? He'd already said it once. Figuring it would be okay, Kama spoke just as softly. "Hi. You are Mikomi. I'm Kama." His voice was soft with a hint of curiosity, as though the very facts interested him.

"That would be nice..." she said, flushing slightly again, noticing the two others for the first time. So many people! She waved meekly over to the woman who had desided to start over in her direction. Waving was... a bit easier then talking...

"Cream and honey sounds just fine," she said, returning her attention to Tea.

"Uh... yes?" she muttered, unsure of how to reply. She looked over to see what Tayne was doing, and saw that she was enjoying herself and talking to the man that Kama had come with.

If only I was that brave...

Kama took one more bite, munching quietly on the cookie. She seemed a little shy. Kama wasn't shy, but he was comfortably settled for the moment.

Following Mikomi's glance back to the adults, Kama smiled a tiny bit. "Is that...your mother? Or friend?" He was referring, of course, to Tayne, and toyed with his last bit of cookie idly as he spoke.

Happily pouring not one, but two cups of tea, Lime added a generous dollop of cream and a trickle of sweet clover honey from one of his jars. "Here you are!" He handed it over with a little spoon, and smiled brightly. Tea he could handle!

"Ah, Kama! Would you like one?" It was a bit of an afterthought, but he meant well. As the boy nodded, Tea flashed a thumb's up...setting his own tea cup back down and fixing another. As he did, he glanced up to see if Tayne had tried hers.

"To your liking?" He'd even added a fresh mint leaf, which settled upon the top of the steaming brew.

Tayne blew slighly on the hot elixer as a habit. She wasn't in the mood to get her tounge burnt. Then, pressing the cup to her lips, she took a sip.

"To my liking," she replied with a nod, then took another sip. Tea with honey, such a nice combination.

"Yes... that is my mama... or mother if you'd rather call it that..." Mikomi said, rubbing her arm slightly. What else was there to say?

"Is he your friend?" she asked, slightly nodding over to the man who had offered to make Kama a cup of tea.

Nodding happily at Tayne's enjoyment, Lime handed Kama's cup over the table carefully. The boy took it with both hands, and brought it closer to his face.

"Glad you like it! The honey is organic, but...I'm not entirely sure what that means." Rubbing at the back of his head with a smile, Tea shrugged and picked his own cup back up. "So...if I can ask...how did Mikomi happen into your life?"

Kama perked up a bit at Tea's distant question, stil blowing at his drink to cool it. He wanted to know the answer as well, but listening to people talk about Mikomi couldn't be as interesting as simply talking to her himself.

So, Kama did just that. Taking one little sip first, he lit up with approval. "It's good! Yes, he is my friend. I don't have many others...not yet. Would you...like to be one?" His offer of friendship was simple, and easy. For the life of him, Kama couldn't guess why she'd decline.

Braeden was out and about alone again, as usual. He almost acted like a homeless spirit, with how often he was just roaming about, as opposed to being at home. Riyana hadn't been around recently, and without her calming aura, he was starting to feel anxiety, so he worked it off by running around, and climbing on things.

He'd acutally just returned from leaping hurdles over trash cans, but had abandoned it after some woman started to chase him. Absently, he began to pick debris from his inky black scarf as he scuffed a pristine orange foot along the cement ground. It was almost like dirt and grime just fell away from him, while his scarf was like a lint magnet.

All in all, he was just feeling a little bit lonely. He tended to put most people off, or frighten them away, but not by any fault of his own. He was just a little too...too random, he supposed. As the wind picked up, he let the soft material rip free from his hands to dance behind him in the air like a pair of dark wings.

Eyes the same color as diamonds were focused on the ground, and he left himself completely defenseless.

Hikari was quite excited Xenos had finally allowed her to carry the camera and use it to take photos. She had been waiting for a while now and the fact that the old meduim format camera was hanging from around her neck. She loved to take pictures of random objects that caught her eye.

She sneak around the streets she loved the idea that she would stumble into some ancient secret and she would be the only one that had the proof. She smiled at the idea of taking a picture of a ghost.

She was surprised that she noticed the orange lanturn. She was not sure if she had met him but that was probably just the fact that lanturns seemed to attract attention from other lanturns. She held her camera up, his scarf was perfect fliping in the wind.

*CLICK* the camera's shutter made a loud noise.

Click? What sort of animal or object made a click noise? Braeden blinked and looked up, seeing at first only a radiant red glow. Turning to face her, his scarf continued to billow, but to his side, rather than out behind him. The wind lifted his long ponytail and draped it over his shoulder.

For a moment, he didn't even realize she held a camera. Blinking, Braeden began to search his mind for where he might have encountered a red spirit before.
Riyana was blue, Gokiloud yellow, Aikori green, Mocha brown, Toshi pink, Dusk purple...He'd met a multitude of spirits from all colors of the rainbow, but none for red.

Until now.

But she seemed so familiar to him, though he'd never met her before. It niggled like an old memory that just refused to be dug up!

"Click?" He asked, before spotting the camera, and smiling. He'd never been camera shy. He mirrored her actions in pantomime, holding up an invisible camera and clicking the shutter button.
"Click."

Her image would forever be in his memory from now on.

Hikari smiled wide, she let a small giggle out and she wound the film in the camera. The old style Rilo were manual and she was excited at the sound filled the air, she realized that she need to apologize for not asking premission. She knew Xenos asked all the time.

"My apologize, your scarf was so wonderful in the wind and your orange tint shaded the black wonderfully and I couldn't help but take it," she bowed a little and held out a hand. "I'm Hikari, it is very nice to meet you."

She loved the way his ponytail was, she wasn't sure if she had met him but to make sure she was not rude she made her introduction.

*CLICK* The camera went off as she had just had come up, she turned a deeper red as she appeared amature and unprofessional. She didn't know it would be so hard.

"It's quite alright." Braeden began, waving his hand casually. His smile was big and genuine, actually rather delighted someone approached him, for once.

He mirrored the bow, and took Hikari's hand, shaking it lightly. Her hands were warm, just like her color was. As far as he could tell, so was her personality.

"I'm called Braeden. A pleasure to meet you, Hikari." He said, laughing quietly as her camera went off again.

"Do you make prints of the pictures you take? I might like to purchase one off of you." He said, ignoring the urge to make a quip about the picture that was probably taken of their knees.
"When did you start photography?" He queried at legnth, noticing the camera itself seemed rather aged, but well loved.

Hikari smiled wide, she was excited that someone was taking interest in her work and photography in general. "Actually, I just got this camera, Xenos, my guardian, she does a lot of arts and such, so I have experience painting and taking photos! I've learn to develope and print my own work...though I don't know if you would want to purchase one?" She was curious at the concept.

"Braeden, I can set it up so we have a picture and I can give that to you, as honor of us meeting," she smiled as one of her pig tails blew across her face.

She was glad to meet Braeden. He seemed very friendly and curious, she liked that. It must of been because she was such in that manner. Always curious, she was like a cat, Xenos had said at one time.

Braeden listened intently to what she said, soaking up her words with interest. Xenos. Another word that sounded oddly familiar to him. So Xenos was her guardian?
"C'mon, from how you described me, I'm sure you have excellent taste." Braeden lightly ribbed. He chuckled slightly, but was actually suprised that she didn't think he'd actually BUY one.

"Well hey, if you want to give it to me, I'm not complaining. That's kind of you."

He looked thoughtfully at her own blazingly red hair, chewing his lip lightly.
"You say you paint? I'm a little bit of an artist myself, but I...I well...I mold glass. I was handing out little ones at the party Toshi held."

Hikari's eyes widen in utter delight, "You work with glass?! I've only read of such arts in books, I thought that was a forgotten skill, what a wonderful talent!"

She smiled at the thought of the party, she had had a lot of fun. Those glasses were his? She was surprised that she could touch such work. She had learn from Japanese Green Tea ceremonies to admire the work of the potters and such. She had to at one point looked at the glass.

"Excellent taste isn't what I would have thought of myself, but thank ou for such a thought. I would gladly give you one, it would be no trouble at all! To thing someone would admire my work, excites me a little. Tell me of this glass skill," she was excited. She had it all planned out. The picture and such with a nice frame.

It was Braeden's turn to flush. He just turned a more red shade of orange, though his bones still glowed as brightly through his skin. Absently he rubbed at his silver eyeshadow as he thought about what to say without sounding pretentious.

"My Guardian, Dian he-- Well he sculpts. He told me that ever since I was a lamp I've had the tendancy to just kind of, well, light myself on fire. It was his idea to hand me a glass rod and tell me to try to shape an animal.
I practise as often as I can, but it's difficult." Braeden said, knowing the last time he'd tried it, he passed out before he finished and the sparrow he'd been molding fell to the floor and shattered.

"Perhaps we can exchange gifts? What would you like? I can make pendants, and little animals and stuff. That is, if you want one."
He was a little self concious, despite Hikari's enthusiasm. No one other than his father made any mention of his work.

Hikari's giggled, "What a brilliant idea! That way we can have a keepsake for us to have and show off. I think that's a plan and a wonderful one to do as well." She couldn't help but wonder what he would make her.

"So Dian is your guardian, a sculpture, what an wild job! I bet he does great works, what does he work with? It couldn't be as delicate and expressive as your glass!" She was so curious about him, she couldn't help but talk and ask.

She grinned as she held up the camera after a quick wind and took his picture again. Maybe she would make a scrape book or better a painting with the lanturns she pictured or met. She could just save it for a special project.

"You must have a delicate hand and a wonderful eye to work with glass, it is a beautiful and stubborn material all at the same time," she lost herself in the curiousness of him.

"It's only brittle when it's cold, when it heats up, it becomes just like a ball of clay, or like silly putty, but stronger.
Dian works with all sorts of things. We've got sculptures all over the house. Mostly of angels and stuff, because he's primarilly a funereal sculptor."

Braeden sighed in exasperation. He had to help Dian move a bunch of them, because he had sold some from his store room.
"Marble, granite, terra cotta, clay, plaster, bronze...He even works in a forge, making fences and silverware and stuff." Braeden listed off. Whatever caught his dad's fancy became yet another thing for him to do.

The click of the shutter and the spirit dissolved into giggles again.
"Photographs are like memories on paper." He noted quietly, "You can capture a moment that will never exist ever again except on a celluliod frame. A river may always be a river, but from instant to instant, it is never the same river. It must be so enrapturing, to control such a device." He said, motioning to her camera.

Hikari paused a moment, then noted, "Those are wise words that you speak, it is almost as if you understand lose of a memory or something that you hold dear!" She shivered at the thought of that and looked at her camera in a happy moment.

She removed the camera gently and rushed quickly closer to Braeden and hugged him, "That is a wonderful picture of the camera. I think you should experience the enjoyment, why not take a picture?" She held the camera out a moment, pulled it back, checked the mechanics of it and then held it before him, "I believe everyone should have a moment in time that is all theirs and here's a chance!"

Braeden's expression faded to the look of a lost ghost he so often portrayed. In the back of his mind, everything he used to be was a big blank. It was like he'd written out his life on a chalkboard and someone came by with a rag and wiped the first half away, leaving a dingy smudge and the knowlege that something was once there, but would never again be retrieved. If a photograph was worth a thousand words, perhaps a picture of his last life could lead him toward remembering who he used to be.

Hikari camed closer and pulled him into a hug. Unable to restrain himself, Braeden came frighteningly close to crying, but the glowing tears remained suspended in his eyes, eventually dissappearing again.

The red spirit held out the camera to him, explaining that he should have a moment that was all his own. Taking the device, Braeden stood still, frozen by the churning of his own thoughts and the new stress of trying to find a moment for himself.
"I--"

Who was he to try and capture a single perfect moment to remember?

Without taking a single image, Braeden shook his head, and handed it back to Hikari.
"I'll leave moment saving to the professional." He said, letting his hands drop to his sides afterward.

Hikari's smile wavered a little as he seemed to be a little emotional for a moment. She took the camera and allowed a slow grin to appear on her face again, she was not one to allow even a sad moment effect everyone. She had been told a smile could be contagious if done by a good person.

"I'm far from a professional," she chuckled at him softly as she pulled the sling from her back forward, "I do have a tripod for this though!" She set up the small 62" tripod. It fell over on her once and she couldn't help but laugh in embarrassement. This determination didn't stop her though, she got it all set up.

"If you couldn't make a memory in fear of ruining it, then I'll make one for you," she smiled as she set the wire in her hand and looked through the lens, messed with a switch here and there and then walked back next to Braedon. "I hope you smiled for this!" she was really hoping that it would come out so they could each have a picture.

She didn't move him but hugged onto his arm with a smile and clicked the button. This would be a time to remember, at least there was someone else who understood that creating was important.

Braeden quickly chided himself for allowing himself to lose control of his emotions in such a way, and pushed his negative thoughts to the back of his mind, allowing his default smile to reemerge.

"Compared to me, you are." He said, pantomiming himself with the camera and fumbling with it. It kind of eerily mirrored how she dropped the tripod, but her laugh caused him to laugh, and slowly his smile became more genuine.

Hikari walked up to him and gripped his arm. Both of them grinned for the photo, Braeden in his usual manner resembling a sort of jester, and Hikari being charming and a half.

He was a little suprised. Hikari was a very affectionate spirit. Ten minutes into meeting her and she'd hugged onto him twice. He'd never gotten that much from Riyana, and she was one of the first he'd met.
But comparing them was unfair. Riyana and Hikari were wholly different souls.

"Do you prefer painting or photography? Or neither?" He queried at legnth.

Hikari smiled and chuckled with a softness she often had when she didn't know whether to pick ice cream or cupcakes, "Oh I love them both! I couldn't get enough of painting and photography is painting without the mess!"

She was happy to answer questions. She walked to her tripod and quickly took it apart. She wound the camera and strapped it around her neck again. It was in a blink of an eye and she was even surprised herself.

"In my mind I can't compare either to each other because even though they are similar in the effect you get a picture, how and why the picture is a picture is a different story. There are emotions that both can hide and convey while masking others so the control is different, like when you meet people, you know some people are just the way they are and others, well others need help to see how wonderful they are," her smile was genuine and hoped she explained well enough.

"True enough." Braeden replied about comparing painting to photography, or more specifically the lack of the ability to compare the two. Unfortunately for himself, Braeden's Painting and Photography was glass sculpting and...and...the ability to act like a wierdo. He really needed to develop another skill.

As she continued to speak though, his expression became more and more enigmatic. There was a lot to her words, and meanings that could be drawn that were either implied, or not. It seemed simple, 'some people are just the way they are and others, well others need help to see how wonderful they are.'

He knew people like that. But was she talking about him? Braeden's face became a mask as he attempted to decipher her sentance before just figuring that he should just take it as he was said. He replied with another
"True enough."

A question popped into his head,
"But what if a person who masks emotions is just the way they are? Are they wonderful too, or do they need help to see a better side?"

Hikari looked at Braeden and thought for a moment, wrinkling her forehead and her eyes lit up, " People who mask emotions tend to be afraid of rejection or that they are not as important as they really are. They could use the help to see that they are special, but sometimes it just takes a smile for them to know who they are." She nodded a moment, "But you can't force the person they will come out of their shell on their own. I am a little more free with myself because I believe everyone should know that I am just as I am, I am no different with anyone, though I may find that I am attracted to pay more attention to other lanturns because I see something very special that they may not see yet...or I'm just being selfish..."

She stopped a moment at that comment, "I hope that I am not the second, I love beng there for others, especially if they want me there." She smiled wide and took another picture but this time of their feet.

"Another point is they might just mask because they know no other way to be," she lost her smile a moment and then found it again, "But that's okay because that's just the way they are! And that shouldn't change who they are or why they are because they are important no matter what."

"You're very wise." Braeden said as she recounted what she knew of wonderful people and being who you were just meant to be, who you were.

"But who doesn't want to pay more attention to those who share resemblance to yourself?" Braeden lifted his arm, radiantly glowing with the white beams that marked his bones still apparent, as they likely would be throughout his...Death? Could what he was experiencing now be called life?

"We're all mysteries in some respect. Even those who are open and free with who they are carry something that is hidden, perhaps unknown to even them."

"Importance and...Wonderful...Quality...Importance?" He was just thinking to himself by that point. He let his hand drop again, his eyes focused on the ground, but beyond it as he pondered her words.

Hikari had made it home in time to see Xenos walk into the dark room. She turned bright read and ran behind her.

"What are you doing, Xenos?" she asked kind of quietly.

"I've heard you in here lately and I wanted to know what was going on, I figured that since you have the camera for now you've at least taken some shots to develope," she smiled and patted the lanturn softly.

"Oh I have but they are not very good," she answered Xenos comment. "I am still getting use to this device. I can't exactly understand all the numbers." She was a little nervous Xenos would be made of the pictures she had taken with Braeden.

"Oh what a nice shot!" Xenos said excited. She looked at the pictures hanging on the wall. They were of different ojects except for a few which were of feet, knees and another Lanturn. She chuckled. Looking carefully she noticed the one of the scarf on the wind. This one was good, she smiled and point, "This one has the best contrast of black to orange, you've done very well. I'm proud of you." She walled out of the black room and Hikari followed.

"You mean you're not angry?" Hikari was surprised. She followed after her and helped her in the kitchen to sit at the table. Xenos' foot was bandaged and still looked swollen.

"no, not at all, you are still learning and taking picture of that what you are familiar with this is how a photographer learns to understand," Xenos smiled, "Now lets have lunch..." she stopped a moment, "Are you going to give him a picture?"

Hikari froze and remember back when Braeden and her talked about exchanging gift, "I wanted to..." she was a little nervous od such.

Xenos smiled, "Good, it's very good manners to do such for the model."

Streatching his arms above his head, he yawned softly as he walked down the street. Enikil was in school today and he was supposed to be spending the day with Cloud. He was supposed to meet him in twenty minuets but he had no intentions in going. He wasn't about to waste his day with that guy. He had to give the albino props, he was at least trying to get along with him. BUt Aikori wanted no part in getting along with him.

So he desided to head for the shop, maybe find someone to h ang out with or play with.

Hikari was hoping around with the camera. She was headed to the store, she had developed the film but printing took too much time for now so she wanted to go out. Her hair bounced and moved as she hopped around, snapping the camera at different ojects of interest.

Her hum was to the tune of Bach, Xeno had been playing it this morning before she headed to work.

Aikori could hear humming somewhere near by, blinking his deep green eyes for a moment. Quickly moving to see who it was, he peeked around the corner and grinned. It was Hikari!

"Hikari!!" He jumped out and waved ti her excitedly.

Hikari looked around for the shout of her name. She looked foward and realized that it was Aikori, "Aikori!" She began to run and meet with him but realized the camera in her hands and slowed down.

Aikori grinned excitedly and moved to meet her half way, seeing she was carring a camera in her hands. He stopped just in front of the smaller lanturn and smiled at her happily. " Hey! How have you been?" he asked, then looked at the camera in her little red hands. "OOo! A camera! Have you coem to take pictures?"

Hikari was happy to see Aikori again, they hadn't talked in a while. "If been so busy since Xenos gave me this camera! I have been taking pictures a lot and decided to come to the shop! I also got to meet another lanturn, Braeden." She grinned happily at Aikori and then took a quick picture of him.

AIkori squeaked and broke into giggles when his picture was taken, a smile on his face. "Oh I've met Braeden once before, he's really nice!" The lanturen said to him, rubbing his eyes with a red and black sleeve.

Hikari smiled big at Aikori and giggled with him. "He was really very nice! He seemed a little lonely though..." she paused and thought about it a moment, then smile again, "and you what have you been doing?" She felt really short next to him but laughed at herself because of it.

Looking around, he found a crate and sat down on it. He rested his elbows on his knees and pulled up his shirt sleeves so t hey covered his hands. He rested his chin on them and looked slightly up at Hikari now. "Yeah, he did..." He sighed softly, thinking about the poor orange lanturn. "Me? Oh nothing really... Enikil has been getting sick alot again and he wont tell me why. Its something to do with what happened to him a long time ago and he refuses to talk ab out it" Aikori frowned and closed his eyes for a moment. "He keeps saying its cause he's tired and working too much..... but thats not it.."

Hikari sat on the ground infront of Aikori. Her camera sat in the center of her indian style legs. "Yes, he was so nice and interested in my work, I think I'll give him the photo we took in a nice frame!" She chuckled and then looked concern at Aikori when she heard Enikil being sick.

"Oh that's terrible... he won't tell you what happened? Maybe his is worried that you would worry too much and not get to do anything cause you are taking care of him?" she tried to smile, "He might want to tell you in his own time. Besides I think our guardians feel really bad when they can't take care of us all the way. Xenos, silly her, hurt herself and can't walk well, so I'm the photographer while she is painting what I find. But is he going to be okay Aikori? He really must be down cause of being sick, I hope you are taking good care of him."

"Maybe you're right...." Aikori trailled off, rubbing the side of his nec lightly then looked at the red girl. She seemed to have the best things to say sometimes. "Xeno got hurt? Thats too bad, I hope she's okay" He said softly, looking concerned for the women.

"I hope he'll be okay, he says he will... even Cloud is worried about him, he's been staying over to take care of him lots with me. We were supposed to go out today together but I don't want to.." He said softly, looking down at the ground/ Shuffling his feet a bit, he sighed again. It was highly unusual to see the boy this down.

Hikari smiled, "Yes, she'll be fine if she would stop being stubborn and walking on it."

She looked concerned at Aikori, "It's good to have someone there to help a little, but that can feel intrusive. Why don't you want to go out with him?" she shuffled herself closer to easier speak with him in a low voice so he didn't have to strain if he felt so down. "You must be worried, you don't usually act so melancholy."

"No, I don't really like Cloud much... " He mumbled softly, picking at the seam of his shirt. Looking up at Hikir, he smiled a tad at her. "Yeah I know... I usually don't act like this when others are around.... I don't like to worry everyone... sorry Hikair.."

Hikari looked a little sad at Aikori, "You should worry so much, it won't help, plus it'll make you sick!" She got up and gave him a hug, "Come on there has to be something that we could do to cheer you up."

"I'll try not to" He smiled and returned the hug she gave him. "You're such a good friend Hikari, thank you" He smiled and let go afterwards. "We could.... we could go to the park and take pictures of ourselves for fun?" Aikori suggested with a playful grin.

Hikari laughed, "That sounds like a wonderful idea!" She dusted herself off at the knees.

Aikori got up to his feet and streatched his arms above his head. Fixing the double layers of shirts and smiled a bit. "Lets go!"

"Yes, let's go jave fun!" she stood beside him, waiting for him to start walking.

Nodding, he smiled lightly at her and headed towards the park. "Too bad there aren't any fairs around, but this will be fun too!" He looked a bit better now that they were doing something to take his mind off worring.

Hikari walked beside him, having to rush a little cause he was bigger then her. "Oh a fair would be wonderful, but those aren't till the summer..." she pouted a little and then smiled, "But the park is just as fun!"
