hrmm.. not sure where to stick this thread. neutral
All-purpose cleaner
mix 1/2 tsp of washing soda (in your supermarket's laundry section) with 1/4 tsp of liquid dish detergent in a spray bottle. Add 2 cups of very hot water; shake until the soda dissolves. Stores for up to a month.
Non-toxic soft scrub.
This isn't gritty so it won't cause scratches.
stir liquid dish soap into a bowl with 1/2 c baking soda until it looks like cake frosting. Now you have a cleanser for removing soap scum from bathtubs and grease from appliances. Store in a closed container until it's all used up.
Mold & mildew cleaner
combine 1 tsp tea tree oil (a natural antiseptic) and 1 c water in a spray bottle. Will store for up to a month.

Borax is pretty earth-friendly and it can be used as a cleanser if you make a paste of it or as detergent if you dilute it. As with everything else, a bit of your favorite Dr. Bronner's Soap can add a lovely fragrance and cleaning power to anything, particularly if you mix it with Borax.
I use plain white vinegar as a surface cleaner and it's especially good on windows and mirrors. I'm not sure how I feel about the smell, but it goes away quickly.
You can always simmer some dried flowers and herbs after cleaning to scent the house. I love the smell of herbs in a simmer pot.

A grapefruit, cut in half and rubbed on the sides of your bathtub, makes for a great cleaner. If you need to add abrasive for that black ring, just layer table salt on the grapefruit. The acid of the fruit takes off the scum. Then take a NYLON scrubbie to get off the rest. It really works and it is safe if you have pets.

salt is a good abbrasive. Sand works too, especially while out camping to scour pots, just rinse with water and toss.
