Are we supposed to be doing anything with the wing today? Iawanth asked as he and rider spiraled downward out of the sky toward the feeding grounds. Iawanth was not hungry, but P'ree was feeling social and it was a place were weyrfolk were bound to be.
Not that I know of, besides I want to socialize, there are so many people and dragons, I'd like to meet more of them. Pr'ee's voice was amused as he looked for a willing target for his company.
Iawanth stayed airborne as P'ree looked, he did not mind what they were doing, at least he was in the sky and he'd even gotten a rise out of P'ree with sudden acrobatics earlier in the day. It was now midday, lunch time for much of the Weyr.
"There has to be someone around to bug," he chuckled and patted Iawanth affectionately as he watched the ground.

Slowly making their way about the feeding grounds, a jr. weyrling and his young blue were looking for a place to settle down. The pair seemed to either be having an in depth conversation, or a small tiff. The pair's pace was alternating slow and just shy of a jog, apparently initiated by one or the other to gain some headway in their exchange.
"U'ruMine, I'm not that hungry, really! I don't wanna be here. Can we not go back to the weyr? Too many here." Atosith complained to His. His tail lashed behind him as they walked.
U'ru sighed softly, shaking his head with a bit of a grin playing at his features. "Atosith, you are. Your stomach growl was loud enough to make me think that I had stepped on your tail or something. We are going to sit here and enjoy a bit of good food. We are but two of many people here. Why are you so worried about those other folks?"
After another short back and forth session, a seat was selected somewhere halfway between the main gathering of people and dragons and the way out. U'ru had eaten a somewhat late breakfast so he wasn't overly hungry. The weyrling simply leaned back a bit, calmly cutting bite sized pieces off for the grumpy dragon sitting about two feet away, looking none to pleased with things. Once a few pieces were ready, U'ru offered the blue a bite with a cupped hand.
Pausing briefly as if debating to give in, Atosith scooted a little closer and snatched the offered bite out of U'ru's hand. "Thank you, U'ruMine," He grumbled. "They might steal your attention away, or look at me. I like our weyr, Mine."
U'ru made a general purpose sound of agreement at the last statement. "You're very welcome, Atosith. It is nice, but the others won't steal my attention and of course they'll look. You're quite a striking young blue, you know. We're lucky that we found each other. Definitely the best thing that's happened to me in a while." He nodded. "Don't worry. We're here together. So if they look or talk to one, they talk or look at both of us."
The young dragon made another grumpy sound, but didn't add on. He simply took the next bite offered him. The rider was alternating between looking to his blue and glancing around the feeding grounds to see if he could spot some familiar or friendly faces.

There, right there, next to the little blue and his boy, P'ree did not like that the pair was separate from the group. Besides he was looking for someone to talk to...to annoy and he spotted someone near the crowd he was trying to avoid.
Little blue, my name is Iawanth, we are coming to join you, Iawanth sent a friendly message to Atosith and started his decent landing a few yards from the pair. His eyes swirled with a lazy light blue. P'ree dismounted less than gracefully tumbling from the blue's back, "Nice decent, you big wherry."
"Hello there!" He called and raised a hand to the young man sitting with his blue, "may be join you?"
I already told the young one, Iawanth snorted tossing P'ree's hair around, why are you trying to be so polite? He walked beside P'ree and they covered the gap quickly, "I'm P'ree and this is Iawanth."

Atosith turned his swirling eyes skyward when the older blue addressed him. First, he addressed his Mine. "U'ruMine, we are getting company." He tipped his head towards the landing pair. "That is Iawanth. I have yet to know His' name." Then he sent a message back to the larger Iawanth. "Yeah. My name is Atosith. You're welcome to join us, I guess. Mine likes company."
"Thank you. That's fine, Atosith. You be good, okay?" U'ru chuckled warmly and rose as the older rider approached. He raised his own hand in return. "Hello! Sure, grab a seat. The more the merrier." He resumed his seat and passed the young blue another bite, which he took his sweet time chewing while looking the pair over. "It's nice to meet you, P'ree. I'm U'ru and this is Atosith. He's in a perpetual state of grumpiness so, don't mind if he doesn't seem happy about chatting. So, what brings you over here?"
It was Atosith's turn to snort. He stretched then refolded his wings close against his back. "Mine, I already introduced myself to Iawanth."
"Good. That's a good place to start. Keep it up."
Atosith looked it Iawanth, his eyes swirling their usual aggravated orange. "How long have you and yours been together?"

"Pleasure to meet you, U'ru, I am P'ree," he took the seat beside the younger man, "I can't even remember when Iawanth was that small." Iawanth was small for a blue, but still much larger than the younger dragon.
Time was funny to Iawanth, he could not always recall different turns and things, but obviously for as long as he has lived he has been with P'ree. My hatching was nine turns ago, it does not seem like it was so long. You just hatched, I saw you hatch, I am happy to see more blues. He watched the smaller blue with little interest, this was not exciting like wing practice would be, this was not like flying in the sky and doing things he enjoyed.
"Why is he so grumpy?" P'ree knew that dragons were as they were, but perhaps the little one was grouchy for a reason.
Mine is very curious about you, Iawanth spoke jealously, he was fiercely loyal to his and he expected the same.
Don't worry, Iawanth, you're the only blue for me, I would not have it any other way.

U'ru smiled then nodded at learning the other rider's name and about his dragon. He looked to his own little blue conversing with the larger. Atosith was about average size for a blue of his age, if slightly longer in length. It seemed hard to imagine the day that his little grump would be that big, but that day was coming. The thought made him chuckle. "I can hardly imagine Atosith getting that big, but it's only a matter of time."
Atosith gave vaguely impressed sound somewhere in his chest. "Yes, I am quite new. I haven't met many other blues. I was the only one in my clutch. Mine keeps reminding me so. I think Mine's kinda proud about that." The youngster paused and gave the older male a once over. "What is it like to fly? I'm not big enough or old enough yet."
U'ru drew his gaze back to P'ree. He simply shook his head, a grin playing at his features. "Not exactly sure, but he's been a grouch pretty much from day one. He isn't fond of getting out and about, but he shouldn't stay cooped up in the weyr all the time. Your Iawanth seems to be quite the skilled flyer. Are you two fond of riding the air?"
The dark blue looked to His then to P'ree before returning his attention to Iawanth. "It seems Mine shares Yours curiousity. Me and Mine are still learning so U'ruMine is excited to get a chance to talk to a fellow blue rider." To keep His attention from lingering on the bigger blue, Atosith flicked his tail around him, thumping his tailtip against U'ru's ankle.
The young rider looked to his blue and smiled, rubbing a hand along his neck. "Don't worry, Atosith. You're all the blue I need."

"He will grow, and fast!" P'ree laughed, sometimes it was not to be around young dragons, he was in a nostalgic mood, remembering baby Iawanth and his desire to stay busy, driving P'ree crazy, "I miss Iawanth being young, I do not miss feeding him!"
It is wonderful, it is like, I do not no anything to compare it to. Flying is freedom, you are not stuck on land doing nothing and being lazy. You should be proud to be blue, we are sturdy, and we are fast. Iawanth rumbled deep in this throat to make a point. What do they have you doing right now? A lot of growing and eating?
"Do you make him come out often?" P'ree wondered, he'd never met an antisocial dragon, but perhaps an antisocial dragon would not be out and about to meet! "I could not keep Iawanth in the weyr; we both spend a lot of time in the sky. Infact, I cannot keep him out of it, when we are inside he asks to fly. We were just assigned a wing, and Iawanth has asked me everyday if we are practicing."

U'ru nodded with a bit of a laugh of his own. "Oh, I know it!" He sighed and looked over to his young blue. "Yes, this is a time to be cherished. I don't think I'll miss feeding Atosith either." He chuckled fondly. "It will be interesting to watch him grow. He can be a quirky little grump as is."
Atosith listened keenly, drinking it all in. Flying sounded like it was going to be fun when he got big enough to take to the sky. It sounded kind of like when he swam beneath the water's surface during his and U'ruMine's bath and swim times. He could move as he couldn't on land. "I think I would like that very much." The youngster nodded with certainty, puffing his little chest out. He was still too small to make such an impressive rumbling sound. He thought it sounded like a purr or a trill whenever he tried in the secrecy of their weyr, something he didn't want to utter in front of the elder blue. "I am proud! Mine says that us blues are important in a wing. We are strong and we hold out until our task is done. We are of a good color. I am glad of what I am!" U'ru flashed a brief fond smile at picking up the dragonet's pride at his station. "Yes. Lots of growing and eating. Learning too. Mine and I are learning to be our best someday."
The rider grinned with an incline of his head. "I do my best. Most times I have to compromise or bribe him with promises of a bath, but he does get out which is a good thing. He does voice his, um, opinions on getting made to come out, but the thoughts of getting into the water calm him a bit." U'ru chuckled. "We're not quite there yet. Only a matter of time before Atosith and I can join you riders in flight though. We just have some growing and learning to do first." His brows rose a bit. "Oh? Congrats then. What is it like so far, being in a wing?"

Iawanth was pleased that the little one knew about his importance, that he knew that blues were needed just as much as any other color and he pufed out with pride. He was a blue, they were agile and sturdily built, unlike the greens they could last an entire fall without resting.
Iawanth rumbled with Atosith, the little blue was not so bad, as long as he knew his worth, and would work hard..Iawanth reminded himself, you're nothing if you don't work.
Mine, I like the little blue, but what are we doing wasting time chatting. Shouldn't we be seeking out our wing leader? I could call to Hers, Iawanth's voice sounded suddenly like a nagging version of his own. P'ree glanced at the blue for a moment and then turned back to U'ru.
We'll be off soon, I promise, it's nice to see a little blue, nice to see a young rider.
Iawanth stretched his wings in response and pulled them back close to his side. Mine, is very lazy, he said to Atosith, but he did not mean what he said, he does not like to work, not like I do. Everyone is important in a Weyr, and we must all work.
"I'm sure as he ages he'll want to go outside," P'ree nodded, but he could not know for sure. "Being in a wing...well our Wingleader is a green rider, and it seems there are a few people upset by that. I don't mind, she's nice enough on the eyes."
