Thought this might be just a fun little thread. What's your favorite cryptozoological creature and why? And do you believe that it exists or not (you can not believe in it and it can still be your favorite)
I'd say El Chupacabra is my favortie becuase: 1. It's a funny sounding name 2. the meaning of it's name it just as funny (Goat-sucker lol) 3. The explinations of it's exsistence are interesting (I personally believe the Chupacabra attacks are the results of canines with mange). 4. There's some pretty funny mentions of it in pop culture. In the Puerto Rico episode of "No Reservations" Tony was told about the Chupacabra and went into the woods. There he found a cute little stray puppy and called it the Chupacabra, and said he'd run if it started walking on it's hind legs. Also there's an episode of "Billy and Mandy" with a Chupacabra and Billy names it "Daisy", and there's a episode of "Dexter's Lab" where you find out the Chupacabra is one of Dex's experiments that escaped his lab. And Mayura mentions the Chupacabra in "Mythical Detective Loki Ragnonarok" 5. The Scooby-Doo movie about the Chupacabra is FAIL. It looks like Bigfoot XD

I think I love you for saying the canine with mange thing. No one listens to me when I say that.
My favorite cryptid would have to be a werewolf, but not because they are extremely popular and mentioned everywhere from the media to FCKING TWILIGHT! scream but because they are so popular from before tv. There are stories of them worldwide and they are, for the most part, reliable information. They may have a few disimliarities, but they are very similar.
There are two different stories of a human transforming into a wolf that makes my jaw drop. Before pale faces (lol) came to what is now the US, native americans were passing down oral tales of skinwalkers. Witches that could transform themselves into animals: coyotes or wolves. Going back to the dissimilarities, these skinwalkers can also make themselves sound like the loved ones of any person they want. Europeans have a history of werewolf lore as well, without any prior knowledge of the native american skinwalkers (for obvious reasons). The type of European werewolves I am most familiar with were actually witches that turned themselves into wolves. Upon being shot, they retreated to their homes and died of the gunshot wound, affirming the villagers' suspicions.
Sorry...very vague and very long, possibly very boring as well. sweatdrop

My favorite is the vampire. No, I am not a Twi-zombie, I absolutely hated the movie (even though the books were excellent). I like vampires for all these reasons: 1: Dark and mysterious. 2: Often tied with evil. 3: So many great books about them, each with a new idea about them, which is quite interesting. 4: I was in to vampires when people were still freaking out about pirates. 5: Love the way they dress (I know, shallow emo ). 6: They drink blood: 7: [insert another reason here] 8: [insert another reason that is different from the one above here] 9: Supposed to be insanely gorgeous. (Did I spell that right? xD ) 10: Even more dark and mysterious that what I thought. 11: I am attracted to darkness. 12: They only come out at night (Well, the ones I like do). 13: Once again, INSANELY GORGEOUS!

I honestly like the Chupacabra, since its native here in Puerto Rico, And by what I've read in reports worldwide, it seems to have different shapes and sizes, here he walks on two legs and has glowing red eyes, and in Mexico it is a wild dog like creature. It also has been spotted in Puerto Rico in numbers at once, so maybe theres a population.. Who knows? all I know is that I want to look into this or have an encounter with it ^^
The other would have to be Bigfoot/Yeti/Sasquatch
Tehre already too much evidence of it?? what are the scientists waiting for on going a full search for it, its like there's too much footage, footprints, photos to not notice. It pisses me off ! sweatdrop rolleyes

The Mothman. I love moths. They're the only bugs that don't annoy me or creep me out. And the idea of a giant moth-person is just really cool. Plus, he isn't as popular as a lot of other cryptids.

I'm not a huge fan of cryptids, but I agree that the Mothman is pretty sweet. I saw that movie, the one with Richard Gere. It wasn't very good and also probably not very accurate, but I did like the bones of the story.
...without a plan of attack.

Although I'm fascinated with any type of sea/lake monster I am in love with the thought of faeries. Not the ones of our childhood stories, but the evil little demons of folklore. Also, Here is a list of Cryptids for those who would like a small menu to choose from then it comes to the mysteries of the world~
