Personality

Overview: Death is a happy-go-lucky goof who switches between serious and ridiculous without warning. He might not seem like the brightest crayon in the box but that is just part of his philosophy. He acts this way because he tries to avoid looking at things too deeply and prefers to view the world in its simplest form. Death had decided to follow this way of life ever since his accident during his binding ritual [read history]. It was the deep core of Death's religion which had caused him so much fear and pain and thus inspired this avoidance of complexity or anything beyond the plain surface of the world. Fear controls Death, but he vowed himself to never show it. Death enjoys every bit of life and makes the best of things. It may seem as if he has ADHD at times but that's just his excitement to be alive.

Combat Information

Rank: Kage
Preferred Combat: Hand-to-Hand
Official Style: Isshinryu Karate
Fighting Technique: Uses a lot of footwork, both blocking and attacking with legs. Performs suicidal attacks often.
Preferred Weapon: Enchanted Shinai - This weapon can take on the attributes of Death's black electricity and absorb energy that it comes in contact with. However, it can also re-release the absorbed energy to enhance it's own power.
Power: Forms - Death has three different forms which give him various powers and abilities. Details on each form are listed below.

History

Before Living Death [Lamont Delfin] appeared in [The Nameless Village] his home was with a small village called Sotaria. In the Village of Sotaria the people have no natural magic abilities nor do they have any high-tech equipment. Instead, they rely on their religion.

Sotaria's religion is based on the concept that after you die your spirit is assigned a "job," usually this is an angel type position. This "job" is decided before you are created and brought into this world; it is the deciding factor of what natural talents a person will have. Most people do not know what their "job" will be, but the basis of Sotarian life is built from actually knowing your predestined "job."

Most people go to some form of reader and are merely told their "job" and then that person bases their life from that. Members of the military are different. After puberty a future military member goes through a process called The Binding Ritual. This ritual spiritually binds a deceased soul [being that soul is actually one of the possible "jobs"] to a military candidate. This soul can then work with it's host to unlock hidden powers. These powers are a combination of the bound soul's abilities and the abilities of the host's job. Lamont's predestined job is to become a Grim Reaper [in this religion there are many reapers, not just one].

When Lamont went for his Binding he was a normal military academy student who had brown eyes, brown hair, and an eagerness for the battlefield. Unfortunately, Lamont's Binding failed and he died an excruciating death. That, obviously, is not the end of the story.

Lamont's sister, Gwen, was going through the Binding Ritual at the same time and she survived the process. Her predestined job was to become a Guardian Angel and she gained many protective abilities.

When she heard Lamont had died she went out of control to try and save him. Thanks to her new powers she stopped the sages in charge of the ritual [killed them] and she was also able to reconnect the detached souls back to Lamont's body and heal him. During the revival, all four of their souls [two from each] were pulled closer together. This gave them the ability to more easily move between forms and to unlock even more forms and powers.

On the down side, Lamont could no longer physically grow. Because Gwen was sustaining Lamont's life, her soul was plunged into an accelerated state of dying. Additionally, if Gwen were to die, Lamont would have nothing to keep him alive and would also die shortly after. Physically, both were disabled, Gwen becoming blind and Lamont mostly loosing his sense of touch.

Within Sotaria there had been a group which formed that was against the binding ritual. They hated it because some people who went through it became insane and murdered their friends and family. They over powered the guards and went after Gwen and Lamont in an attempt to kill them.

To save their lives, Lamont and Gwen fled from Sotaria and into the wilderness. They created the aliases Living Death and Dying Life as a way to protect and hide themselves. They struggled to survive until they came across a large village. They robbed and thieved and learned how to survive with the help of their new powers. Life was even able to learn how to "sense" her surroundings and find a way past her blindness. Unfortunately, they were caught by the authorities and sentenced to be hanged. In a wonderful display of trickery and acrobatics, they escaped and left the town for good.

Traveling again, they learned more about fighting for food and surviving in harsh conditions. One day they were found by a scout from The Village Hidden in Towns. This scout was kind enough to bring them back with him. He found them a place to live and told them where to go for school.

The two siblings lived in this village and excelled thanks to their experience in the slums and the wild. The village had become their home and they promised to protect it with their lives, and so they did. Years went by and they grew each day. But on one fateful afternoon, all hell broke loose.

An unknown enemy had attacked the village and war broke out. The village leaders had gone missing and the town's military was left to fight the battle on their own. Many were injured greatly, but hundreds more died, murdered by the terrible foe. In the end of the war, the village was left in ruins.

After some time, the remaining members of The Village Hidden in Towns worked to rebuild the town, bringing it back to its former glory. They had to steal, trick, lie, and basically do what they did best, but it paid off. The village was rebuilt as the [Nameless Village], a place for those of dead lands and those who have been cast away by their families. This is where it all began again....

Form 1 - Victus Letum [Himself]

Overview: Essentially, this form is Living Death. He is always in this form but at varying degrees. When Death appears to be normal, he is fully suppressing these powers. He can use these powers whenever he wants while in his normal state, but the more he uses them the more he looses control to his powers. No, his strength does not rule his decisions, he just gets over excited.
Appearance: As Death looses control and uses his powers more, his clothing, items, and skin begin turning jet black. The color change happens gradually, effecting only small areas with small uses of his powers, and larger areas with bigger power outputs.

Personality Change: Death's personality is practically the same as always. The only change is that he becomes more suicidal as he looses control of himself. He also has a slightly more violent, blood-thirsty behavior which can lead to him seeming even more crazy and dangerous than usually.
Powers: When Death uses this form he becomes stronger, faster, more clever, and so on. Every aspect of his fighter self is slightly enhanced and readied for battle. Besides the obvious buffs, Death has the powers of Black Electricity and Teleportation which can be used in many different ways for very interesting results.

Black Electricity, which is technically called anti-energy, is a lot like anti-matter. The black electricity is not electricity at all but a crack of energy void. Like a regular void, it sucks things up, but instead of sucking up material, it absorbs energy. When used on living organisms, it absorbs life energy and can cause temporary paralysis. Death can even 'recharge' his own energy when sucking life from other living organisms. If Death were to have an element, this would be it.

Teleportation is exactly what it sounds like. But here's the interesting part: when Death teleports, he temporarily disappears from existence. There is no chakra trail left behind or anything, his location of existence simply changes. Because of this, Death can even teleport through walls and out of locked rooms. Death can bring things with him when he teleports if he touches them, and he can teleport things alone [without teleporting himself] if he concentrates while in contact with said object. After some time, Death will even be able to teleport things he is not in contact with, including people. But even he has not reached that high of a level yet.

Form 2 - Kenji Yusuke

Overview: Kenji is an entirely different person. He is the soul that was bound to Death's body and now he can basically come back to life for short periods of time. Kenji can even decide which period in his life he wants to appear as; he can choose what age he is every time he surfaces.
Appearance: Kenji is considerably shorter than Death and most people actually; he is only five foot two. He also wears strong glasses due to his poor eyesight. His skin is white as snow and is covered with ornate black tattoos. His hair is longer than Death's and is in a small ponytail at the back. Kenji's hair color is streaks of white and streaks of black. No matter what outfit he has on the main color is white and all the details are black. He commonly wears a cloak over his outfit so that he can float and lie about his height. He also carries a [magic] bottomless backpack and an orange potion in a spherical glass jar. Kenji's clothes are littered with belts, he loves them.

Personality: Kenji is extremely conceited and has little respect for anyone who has not either helped him or proven themselves. He is extremely intelligent which only adds to his ego. Kenji doesn't show his emotions often because it is a weakness in his eyes. Long story short, he's a jerk.
Powers: Kenji is a psychic master and can perform quite a variety of techniques [levitation, telekinesis, telepathy, clairvoyance, and more]. Kenji almost constantly levitates and barely uses his hands for anything. Because of this, Kenji has little to no muscle at all. He relies on mostly ranged fighting so that he can avoid getting hit, but that doesn't mean getting close to him is any safer. Kenji's great versatility along with being able to predict what you do before you do it makes him a powerful foe. The only way to fight him is by not thinking at all and making it completely improvisational. Even then you'll have trouble.

Form 3 - The End

Complete Overview: As Death reaches the height of his powers through his Victus Letum form, he begins to near this form. This form has two persuasions, a chaotic and a divine. Depending on Death's emotional state and his level of control when he enters this form, that will determine the persuasion. both have very Reaper like powers but both are very different. [This form has not been used yet and is unlikely to be used unless in extreme scenarios.]

Other Information

Fun Fact 1: Death's blood is a brighter than normal crimson color. It also smells sour [like in sourdough bread] which can cause nausea in people who smell too much of it.

Fun Fact 2: Because of Death's death and subsequent recovery he is forever too young to drink gets drunk very easily.

Fun Fact 3: Similar to the above, Death is very weak against poisons and knock-out gas. However, he has been training to resist them lately.

Fun Fact 4: Sorry ladies, but Death is sterile and can't have children of his own. However, that doesn't stop him from flirting.

Headband: Death's headband has the same base as all the others within the [Nameless Village]; it has the brackets with his own personal symbol inside. His personal symbol is a 'Z' with a vertical line through it, longer on the bottom. This design is like a 'Z' and a 'T' mixed together. However, Death rarely wears his headband.
