I'm thinking of altering my look to be more diesekpunk-y, since it seems to combine several of my favorite things (steampunk, industrial, a touch of goth maybe, etc) What do you think?
also, any reff pics of dieselpunk clothes, contraptions and settings you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

For some reason, when I think of that idea, the first thing that pops into my head is Mad Max. That isn't a bad thing, just not what you're talking about.

Since the internet isn't as knowledgeable as I thought, could you share your information about dieselpunk? I've never heard of it... sweatdrop

Taerinn Since the internet isn't as knowledgeable as I thought, could you share your information about dieselpunk? I've never heard of it... sweatdrop It does to the internal combustion engine what steampunk does to the steam engine. Same sort of 'thing', more advanced technology/later period. Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow could be considered an example. What period? Hard to define - certainly after the Victorian age - but where it ends is not so clear. Some might say it ends with the advent of Jet engines, others with the coming of computers and the Electronic age.

I loved Sky Captain. It was so delightfully campy. Actually inspired a character for I fanfic that I'm perpetually meaning to write.

Since dieselpunk is nowhere near as common as steampunk its hard to find anything about it

Steampunk is your internal combustion engies, sterling engines, and rotary engines.
My best guess would be that it is 1901-1945. Good time. You get Jazz, industrialization, imperialism, communism, and two wars.
This goes up until we enter the...NUCLEAR REVOLUTION.

And would Crimson Skies happen to fit in there too?

And would Crimson Skies happen to fit in there too? There is a fair bit of overlap, yes; the concept of the internal combustion engine has been around for centuries, and there were many early designs made during the Victorian ('Steampunk') era. However, one can take the point where internal combustion engines surpassed steam almost completely to be the switch from Steampunk to Dieselpunk. I couldn't say for certain, but quickly Googling it I'd say yes.

I like Dieselpunk's visual style, especially the WW2 uniforms. I like to think Dieselpunk still runs on steam stuff.

Actually it occurred to me that, in spite of its name, "Steambot Chronicles" is a great example of dieselpunk. They should have used the Japanese title "Bumpy Trot".
The mecha and technology is clearly up to the age of internal combustion by the game time. Automobiles are on the streets, and fairly common. You even help to invent a gas-powered electric guitar (with a MOTOR on it, no less)...it's very dieselpunk.
