It was the hottest time of the day even in the shade it felt like 100 degrees outside. On the edge of the small lake under a huge shady oak tree a form was sprawled out half body in the water half on land. Not far from the forms body was a smaller creature gnawing on some limbs from a tree branch. It had sap on it and it was good to her stomach since it was too hot to go too far to find berries or nuts to eat.

She was used to the heat. Back in her own lands the heat was nothing to scoff at, but amongst the great trees there had been plenty of shade. It was a sticky kind of heat that forced you to spend your free time in one of the many lakes or streams, or forced you underground where the heat couldn't find you. At the end of everyday when the sun began it's descent, the clouds would come and the rain would wash away the heat and lead into pleasantly cooled nights.

She'd learned the hard way that things weren't like that everywhere.

The heat here was dry, the kind that could choke you if you weren't careful. The large kimera had figured out that any time spent out of the shade was spent cooking. The last time she'd tried she would've sworn that the sun had singed her fur.

She'd spent the day in the shade, lazily forcing herself to move and avoiding the sun like the plague. The smell of water had caught her attention a little while back and she'd made it her personal mission to seek it out.

Her destination turned out to be the next clearing over, where a large lake resided in the middle, shaded by a few large trees. Her gaze however moved to the familiar figure sprawled out.

"Oye! You better be 'live out there, 'cause I'll toss you in that lake 'fore I drag you anywhere else."

The smaller creature scurried back over to her owner when the much bigger creature appeared. Curling up on her owner's head she whimpered slightly.

Raising his head calmly from the cool edge of the lake his ice blue eyes cast over to the one speaking. Smirking slightly he climbs up and out of the lake shaking off the water. "I believe I am alive, no reason to toss me into the lake." Unfolding his wings he flapped them a minute to remove the water from them. Staying in the cooler shade he felt more relaxed.

The sun was a enemy to him anyhow, and he tried to limit his time outside in the daytime to no longer then two maybe three hours. The rest of the time he slept curled up in a cave not too far away till nightfall.

The larger kimera lumbered closer a few paces, stopping right before the shade fled from the hot rays of the sun. She stayed there for a moment, head tilted as if weighing whether or not it was worth a brief skirmish with the sun. She sat back on her haunches, leaning forward with her claws on the ground for balance. It was to early to reach a proper decision.

The brief bit of movement caught her eye and she watched the small furball scurry back to her master. She couldn't help but squint, but with the mix of poor eyesight and the hot haze she couldn't quite identify the creature.

"Oye, you're a strange fellow then. In this heat, most livin' critters would love to go for a swim, forcefully or not. But I see you've already beat me to the punch." She couldn't hide the toothy grin that followed. "How's the water there?"

Swaying his tail slowly he looked to the lake. "It is rather nice and cool when one goes under the water for awhile." Truth be told he had been in the water swimming for awhile thus why he was laying along the edge of half in and half out. Though not many had came near the lake spot with him. He did see a few on the other side of the lake playing in the cool water for about fifteen minutes.

Mavi sat on her owner's head calmly watching the much bigger creature closely. Her small frame shivering slightly as she squeaked slightly worried the bigger one might decide to eat them. She hoped not.

Sitting down in the same spot he stood he watched a cloud move over the sun slowly. "I hate hot days like this. There's nothing much to do expect rest in the shade, and most of the easy to catch prey are curled up in burrows, tree holes, whatever they can find." Flicks his ears listening to Mavi's whimpering squeaks, but he ignores the meaning behind them since he didn't seem to worried about maybe being eaten.

"Well I s'pose it's better than chillin' underground like a mole." The large kimera commented as she shifted and fidgeted around. She appeared to be distracted as the arnulf spoke, moving around and standing, only to crouch down again. "Hrm....." Keeping her eyes on the stretch of sun that separated them she took a few measured steps backwards and tilted her head as if thinking about something. Then without any warning she took off forward, her muscles coiling at the last minute before she jumped the distance like it was some sort of chasm of death, and landing with a large thud on the other side.

Turning her attention back to the other kimera as if nothing was out of the ordinary. "Absolutely nothin' good comes from this weather, I agree." With a sigh she sprawled out on her stomach by the lake as well, keeping a respectable distance but facing the arnulf. She blinked at him lazily before she looked up at the rat on his head. "Ya know...you got a twitchy hairball on your head...you might wanna get that looked at."

Watching the others actions of moving around and just seeming unsure of how to cross the beam of light, he guessed, before it jumped and scaring the heck out of his rat, Mavi, he grinned. "Nice jump." He wasn't fazed by it as he watched the large creature lay down not very far from him. Laying back down in his spot he yawned slightly.

When the other spoke about the 'hairball' on his head he laughed slightly. Folding up his wings he raised his eyes to head. "Oh the hairball is Mavi, my little friend and helper. I think Mavi's scared for some reason. I'm Myotismon by the way." Twitching his tail slowly in the water he shook his head making Mavi fall between his paws before he licked her slightly.

Even safe in the shade she continued to fidget slightly, changing her position and trying to get comfortable, but it was clear the heat was starting to get to her. She finally rolled her legs underneath her and coiled her tail around her side, straightening into a more normal position than randomly sprawled limbs everywhere. She extended her neck, the gold plates danging from the swoop of fabric jingling as she squinted, trying to get a better glimpse of the rat even with her poor eyesight.

"Small creatures tend to keep their distance from me, which is good since I don't always see 'em." She grinned in what she hoped was a good natured harmless smile, but it contained too many sharp teeth to be taken as such. "Don't you worry, little critter. I can see you there. It's a little hard to accidentally squish things laying down as well."

The yawn seemed to be contagious as not a few seconds later, the large fennec echoed the sentiment. "Blasted weather. Ev'ry thing is weird around here." The large kimera muttered darkly to herself, only springing back to attention at the others introduction. "It's a pleasure. Sorry to saddle ya with such lousy company. Strange how something simple like the weather can kill my mood." She continued to grumble to herself for a bit before she shook her head, the feathers in her hair sticking up strangely with the action.

"I'm Allonia, by the by. Dunno what you want to call me though, tends to differ from place to place usually." She managed a chuckle and another sharp grin. "I'm new around these parts, so it's still up for debate."

Mavi scurried away from Myo's paws over to the bigger Allo to say hi, and sniff her a little. Squeaking happily she poked Allo with her nose before looking over to her owner for a bit of protection. Feeling a little bit more at ease knowing he was keeping a good watch on her she curled up next to Allo's front paw making the cutest sound she could.

Myo smiled watching Mavi greet Allonia. "I don't think your lousy company, Allo. Your the only one to come this close to me. Every one and thing else just avoids me. Doesn't really bother me too much, but it does get lonely well till I found Mavi it was. Even Akuma gets annoying at times where as Mavi is always doing something new like she is now." Since he had found Mavi she was mostly shy and almost always hidden from sight of bigger creatures, so her behavior right now was very interesting for Myo to see.

Hearing Allo was new to the area he thought about it since this place was, in his mind, part of his lands. "Its a nice place around here. There is lots of prey to catch though its easier to catch them at night since it is cooler. Then again this is the middle of summer, so even the night times are a little hot but nothing like the sun cursed daytimes. Most of the time I sleep since my kind aren't normally daytime goers. I seem to be different from them since I can be outside for awhile. ..... Sorry if I'm talking to much I rarely have anyone to talk with."

---------

After a few silent hours passed he flicked his ears turning his head to look up to the sky. The sky was clear with only a few passing clouds, but further away Myo could sense something coming and it was going to be a good one. "Its going to rain in another hour I can hear it forming. It should cool down a little now." He always seemed more happy when it rained, and more so when it was a thunder storm. Lightning and thunder always made him feel at easy and relaxed. Flexing his claws slightly into the grass he grinned looking to his little blue rat. "Mavi, go find yourself something to eat then head for the cave to avoid the rain."

Mavi chirped and scurried off into the bush to find a few berries or what not. Not far from their meeting spot she found a good bush of mulberries, which she loved. Climbing up into the branches she picked some and gnawed on them happily. Once full she scurried to the cave like she was told. After ten minutes of a good paced walk she reached the cave, and curled up in her spot waiting for her master to return home as well.

Standing and shaking out his fur Myo looked to Allo. "Well before it rains shall we find shelter? Your welcome to join me and Mavi." He offered just before a major roll of thunder rumbled through the area, but something was off about this thunder. It wasn't from the skies like normal well it kind of was but it wasn't the coming storm. It was something bigger. It was Azulongmon the dragon god. He seemed on a warpath mood, and causing storms along his path.

(I hope Zero doesn't mind me adding a Digimon God who isn't a pet. sweatdrop I know Azulongmon doesn't make storms in the show, but this one does.)

The large kimera's head tilted curiously as the small critter scurried up to her willingly and nestled against her paw. She observed the small creature for a moment before nudging it gently with a chuckle."Well I guess there's a first for ev'rything. You're a very cute fur ball, but 'm sure you're well aware."

Turning the focus of her attention back to the arnulf. "It's hard some times, not everyone understands that you don't have to be alone to be lonely." She paused for a moment, carefully stroking Mavi with the back of her paw. "An' sometimes ya manage to find good company in the most unlikely of places. Ain't that right little one~?"

"I didn't get a chance to see much, with this darned heat chasin' anything good away. Not that I can blame the general population." She eyed the other kimera for a moment. "I don't think anything with fur should be out in this heat." She shifted carefully but could contain her chuckle.

"That's the point of company, Myo. You're 'suppose to talk, so no apologin'!"

-----------

It had been a quiet few hours, a comfortable silence as she dozed in the shade. Had she been more aware, she'd have been able to smell the coming rain as well.

"Well it's about darn time. Blast'd heat!" She grumbled, voice rough from sleep as she stirred lightly. She typically disliked getting wet, unless on her own accord, but right now it didn't seem like too bad of an idea. Straightening herself out and sitting up, she blinked blearily at her current companion.

She seemed a little dazed, most likely still half asleep, but she kept her attention on Myo as he spoke. "Well...." She was gonna take a moment to consider the offer, but as if on cue the glorious sound of rolling thunder could be heard overhead. She turned her gaze skyward." I guess th' sky ain't giving me much of a choice now is it? I think I'll have to take you up on that offer."

Stretching out her limbs she stood, shaking out her own fur as well. When it became apparent that she just couldn't seem to fully wake up she snorted lightly and made her way over to the lake. Taking a deep breath she plunged her head into the cool water for a few moment before coming back up. She wasted no time in shaking the water off, her fur sticking out as her now waterlogged feathers clung to her neck.

"Mmmkay, I'm good now."
