I was wondering if anyone else was oddly picky with certain dislikes and likes about markings? Paint people, you're just barely allowed in this conversation.
I mean: I prefer good medium sized connected star-strip-snips. BUT that snip better not go too far around the horse's nose, and it has to stay between the eyes. If there's going to be a dot, it better be a pretty solid dot... I don't like the sprinkling of white hairs. I also have preferences about white on the feet--one of my horses has basically a little ribbon of white on the front of her foot and that's it. I wish it was higher and went all the way around.
Quite frankly, I thought I was nuts and never said this out loud. Last night my boyfriend was talking--his dad just got a new horse. I've seen it before but don't remember the details of his blaze, so my boyfriend was telling me, and he also has pretty much the same rules for blazes as I do... and he's the first to claim he doesn't care about color and such, but apparently this gelding's white on his nose is a little too wide.
Now... neither of us would let these preferences get in the way of buying a horse that was otherwise right, they're just preferences. Does anyone else do this?

My Bonus has a really lovely star-strip-snip marking, right down the center! My other horse is a dapple gray, with no markings at all heh. (FYI ; He's looking ribby in this pic because he is a rehab, has picked up immensely since then, and was much worse than that when he arrived!) He also has a 'hat'. Apparently it's a random black marking caused by a mutation, called a somatic mutation.

haha yeah. i don't like horses with no markings, they have to have someeething!
i LOVE the socks with the black dots by the hooves (can't remember the name at the moments)
my "dream" horse is a chestnut with knee high stockings (all four feet) and a small blaze down his face smile . dakota's been the closest with half way up to his knee socks on all four feet smile
i'm picky about facial markings too, they have to be pretty specific. although i LOVE horses with really strangely shaped markings on their faces

Ahem.... My horses have to have symmetrical markings on their legs. Like if their socks aren't almost the same height and with the same points, I get kinda..... twitchy.

For the most part, coloring and marking doesn't really matter to me. But, I have a few peeves. XD
On paint horses, or any kind of horse, I don't like it if their face has a white marking that covers most of their face, but when it reaches their neck, it changes from white to brown/black/ect. I find that it makes them look like a cow. D: And with paints, I don't like it if their 'spots' are random. I like the ones that are kind of like puzzles. You know?
For some odd reason, I don't like flee-bitten-grays to have WAY TOO MANY 'freckles'. :] To me, it looks weird. On Ruby (Who is a flee-bitten-gray), she has many spots, but they aren't too close together. They're spaced nicely. T-T I don't know, it's weird.
My dream horse is a Friesian (This is going to be funny, because Friesians aren't supposed to have any color but black, right?) who has one stocking on his back left leg, that goes up to his knee. And then, on his face, a nice little blaze down his face. Unfortunately, I have yet to fine a Friesian with specific markings such as those. ^^

My favorite is a ver small star trailing into a thin strip, and 4 socks just to the fetlock. But I'm a pinto person haha, so I like my tobianos, but thats what I like on solid horses. I like the markings on Anna's filly from last year (she has 2 front socks as well, you cna see them better now that shes a yearling and lost her baby fur). I like this guys markings too, he's just a wee pony (I think he must be less than 13 hands!) His name is (Grease) Lightning.

I like kind of off-kilter face markings. Like a blaze that runs diagonally across the face, or that has "holes" in it or little bumps on the side. Anything that makes it a little different.
And I like an even number of leg markings. Well, I prefer no leg markings because I'm lazy and hate trying to make them clean. But if they have socks, they need to be in even numbers. Don't care which legs their on, but 2 or 4, not 1 or 3.
And I don't really like bald faces, or pintos with white heads. I just don't find it attractive.
And I really don't like flea-bitten grays. Sorry! They just always look... dirty to me.
Of course, none of this would really matter. My first horse was a flea-bitten gray, and I've loved some horses with uneven socks dearly. But given the choice...

My dream horse: A Black shire with a wide blaze, that bends a little staring at the right, and ending up at the left, not strait down the face, with four tall stockings, with a long black mane, and forelock, and a long untrimmed tail, and coal black hooves.
