Well I checked out the book "The Complete Phantom of the Opera" from my school library and in it was the original lyrics for ALW's version. I noticed that nearly every version I heard deviated from it in some way. Here are just a few I've noted and I'd appreciate help.

London 1986
Music of the Night

"Helpless to resist the notes I write for I compose the music of the night"

"Hearing is believing, music is decieving, hard as lightning soft as candle light, dare you trust the music of the night.

Close your eyes for your eyes will only tell the truth and the truth isn't what you want to see, in the dark it is easy to pretend that the truth is what it ought to be,"

Movie!2004

Think of Me

"Long ago it seems so long ago how young and innocent we were"

"Flowers fade, the fruits of summer fade, they have their seasons so do we,"

Broadway 2005

Angel Of Music

"I see your face in the shadows, distant from all the applause, I hear your voice in the darkness but the words aren't yours"

They changed a LOT of the lyrics to Think of Me, if anyone knows them I would appreciate it.

Please add your observations.

Well, do you want the original lyrics or the movie lyrics?

Lookhere. for the original lyrics.

Andrew Lloyd Webber to search for.

The lyrics were never actually used in the play, the one's you're talking about anyway, they were used to advertise for the play at sneak peeks of up and coming shows in London and have evolved from there.

I don't have a website for you, unfortunatly.

I've only posted things I have actually heard with my own ears. I did hear all of those changes. I know there are more.

I just got to see this years production last night. They mostly kept with the Broadway 1987 show. I think these are the orignal lyrics to "Think of Me"

Christine
Think of me
think of me fondly,
when we've said
goodbye.
Remember me
once in a while -
please promise me
you'll try.

When you find
that, once
again, you long
to take your heart back
and be free -
if you
ever find
a moment,
spare a thought
for me ...

We never said
our love
was evergreen,
or as unchanging
as the sea -
but if
you can still
remember,
stop and think
of me ...

Think of all the things
we've shared and seen -
don't think about the things
which might have been ...

Think of me,
think of me waking,
silent and
resigned.

Imagine me,
trying too hard
to put you
from my mind.

Recall those days,
look back
on all those times,
think of the things
we'll never do -
there will
never be
a day, when
I won't think
of you ...

Raoul
Can it be?
Can it be Christine?

What a change!
You're really
not a bit
the gawkish girl
that once you were ...

She may
not remember
me, but
I remember
her ...

Christine
We never said
our love
was evergreen,
or as unchanging
as the sea -
but please
promise me
that sometimes
you will think
ah-ah-ah-ah-aaah-of me!

You always come up with the most interesting things to talk about BakaTulip!

I clearly heard different words.

I remember the line "Remember me, every so often" I barely recognized any of it.

Maybe when she sang, "Think of me/ once in a while/ please promise me you'll try" it was "Remember me/ every so often/ please promise me you'll try" I know I heard something different as well, but I must've checked at least 50 websites on Google for " "Think of Me" Phantom of the Opera Sarah Brightman Lyrics" and came up with the same lyrics....here are the lyrics for the "solo Tokyo version" of "Think of Me"...maybe this one will ring a few bells?

Sarah's solo Tokyo-version

Think of me
think of me fondly,
when we've said
goodbye.
Remember me
every so often -

promise me
you'll try.

When you find
that, once
again, you long
to take your heart back
and be free -
if you
ever find
a moment,
spare a thought
for me ...

We never said
our love
was evergreen,
or as unchanging
as the sea -
but if
you can still
remember,
stop and think
of me ...

Think of August
when the trees were green -
don't think about the way
things might have been ...

Think of me,
think of me waking,
silent and
resigned.

Imagine me,
trying too hard
to put you
from my mind.

Recall those days
look back
on all those times,
think of the things
we'll never do -
there will
never be
a day, when
I won't think
of you ...

Flowers fade
The fruits of summer fade ...
they have their seasons so do we ...
But please promise me that sometimes
You will think of me.

That has most of what I remember from seeing it last week on B-way. Thank you

The broadway lyrics are actually different from both the original and the movie versions. It goes like this

Think of me
Think of me fondley when we said goodbye
Remember me
Every so often
Promise me you'll try
On that day
That not so distant day
When you are far away and free
If you ever find a moment
Spare a thought for me

And though it's clear
Though it was always clear
That this was never meant to be
If you happen to remember
Stop and think of me

Think of August when the trees were green
Don't think about the way things might have been

Think of me
Think of me waking silent and resinged
imagine me
trying to hard
to put you from mind
think of me
Please say you'll think of me
Whatever else you choose to do
There will never be a day
When I won't think of you

Can it be?
Can it be Christine? Bravo!
Long ago
It seems so long ago
How young and innocent we were
She may not remember me
but I remember her

Flowers fade
The fruits of summer fade
They have their seasons so do we
But please promise me
That sometimes you will think
of me.

If you check out your special edition Phantom DVD, one of the featurettes have mini-Phantom shows that ALW did with his friends. I think he used it to give them a preview of what was to come, or their critique, or something.

Anyway, if you look in the featurettes, they're always low-quality little scenes. Sarah Brightman still plays Christine, but the Phantom is in a freaky-weird costume.

Listen to the lyrics during those scenes. They're very, VERY different.

Hannibal--lemme say--LAHVE the siggie!

Yeah--they used the more original lyrics, which can be found in the songbook...
I personally liked it.
