A talk show rips apart a sermon...for all the right reasons.

Where I am, it is not nice to make fun of Rick Warren and other Church Lite gospels, unless you are a non-Christian, in which case it is ok.
That is EXACTLY OPPOSITE of what should happen! Those rooted and grounded in the Faith should have enough Bible knowledge, teaching and wisdom to know when preaching is worthless, and the respect of all to jump up and say "This is poop!!" And the non-Christians, if they don't understand what is going on but sense something is wrong, should respectfully ask questions but otherwise keep their traps shut. Timidity should not be part of the Christian's kit. Jesus told us to be humble, not scared.
I'm so steeped in the horrible culture of my area that I can make all sorts of excuses for the bad pastor...he's trying to attract the children, he wants to make it fun, he wants to bring out the inherent Christianity that our culture is/was/ used to be based on. So it was like cold water in the face to hear those radio guys laughing themselves silly at the sermon. Yet, because they were backing up their comments with scripture, I wasn't angry. If it was two secular people ripping up the sermon, even if they were picking up on the same falsity and irrelevance of what the pastor was saying, I would have automatically dismissed them as being hateful and ignorant. It's great that others are picking up the cudgels, as CS Lewis said. ^_^
