Kwaruza was huge. She shouldn't really be working still as it looked as if she were about to pop any minute but she had to carry on helping Tamu, she wasn't about to stop working just because she got herself pregnant. She still wasn't sure how it happened but there you go, things just happen sometimes.
She found somewhere nice to lay down and enjoy the shade. She really wasn't in the mood for walking lots and she could see the borders fine from here. After all if she did meet someone who wished to join the pride she would then have to somehow get down to the beach for the Rites. Well she could lay down there so it didn't matter too much.
She rolled over onto her side and smiled to herself. She could still watch the borders here but it was so much more comfortable to be on her side then to lay on her stomach. She was sure she had a small litter, she seemed only able to carry small litters but she didn't mind. She was happy to just have small litters, then there is only a few to keep watch of. She had no idea how some lionesses managed to have such huge litters.

With her eyes turned to the borders, Kwaruza could hardly expect an unfamiliar face to come from behind her, but it seems that's how it was today. Tired of the confines of the cave his new friend had led him to, Cifitu had stepped out to wander down the beautiful beach side, soaking in the pleasant sunshine. Between the scenery, the peace, and the lioness who had taken it upon herself to care for him, this was quickly becoming a place that he could grow used to living in...
Slowly the large male limped forward through the damp sand, not minding the gentle waves that wet his paws every so often. Currently, he was rather occupied with cursing himself mentally, eyes on the beach directly under him, in search of any little trinket or unbroken shell he felt Feana may like. It annoyed him to no end that he actually seemed to want to do something... nice... for the young lioness. It was hardly in his nature. While he may not be mean, per se, he was not the type to go out of his way to do little things for others.
So focused on his task, and his mental tirade, he very nearly stepped on the white lioness laying out on the beach.
Pink eye widen as he halted his paw from landing on, and possibly harming the obviously pregnant female, stumbling back a few steps from her. Ever the gentle man, gruff or not, he quickly bowed his head, speaking out in a heavy accent. " 'scuse me, kitten. Did'n see ya 'ere. "
Frowning lightly, he sat himself down in the damp sands, taking weight off his currently mangled front paw. The injury was still fresh, and trying to heal. Feana would throw a fit if she knew he was out walking on it still.
" Shud ya be ou' 'ere in yer condition? " He asked, letting his eyes take the female in more slowly. She was a good bit older than him, no doubt. And quite pretty, dressed up in the interesting shell jewelry. " 'ardly seems safe fer ya... "

Kwaruza hadn't heard him coming and so turned around quickly and slightly defensively. She had to take a few moments to calm down before she started talking.
"I am perfectly fine to be out here and I have to be for reasons like you. Who are you and what are you doing in the prides lands?" She hadn't seen him before and nor had she been informed by any of the guards that a stranger was in the lands. She would have to talk to Tamu about this. No one was suppose to get in to the pride without seeing Kwaruza or Tamu, not with cubs so young running about. She was sure she sounded a little harsher then she intended but she was pregnant and there was a random male wandering the lands unescorted. There wasn't much for her to be happy about.
"You do know you are trespassing on pride lands I assume?" Her voice was still slightly harsh and so she worked on trying to calm herself down. Oh she really needed to talk to Tamu.

He didn't seem to take any offense from her harsh tone, head tilting slightly to the side as he took in her words. He wasn't in the habit of getting angry with females. Pregnant ones especially.
" Trespassin'? " He questioned, letting out a rumbling laugh. " I was invi'ed, kitten. No need ta be ge'in' huffy on me. " He smirked, still rather amused as his lifted up a badly damaged paw into her sight. And it was hardly his only injury. " Pre'y sure ya can take me in a figh'. " With his size, that may not actually be the case. But he was trying to put her at ease, in his own, sarcastic way.
Shifting where he sat, he slid down further to lay in the sand on his stomach, quirking her a slight smile. He couldn't help but feel bad, upsetting a lady in her condition, so he did what he could to put her mind at ease a little, including laying himself down to give the female height, and advantage over him. She didn't seem the type to attack without cause anyway, so he relaxed in front of her.
" S'ppose I shud es'plain, ya? One'a yer lioness' foun' me near dyin' on th' beach. Sh' was kind 'nough ta take me in. " Perhaps he had been wrong to accept her assurance that the pride would not mind his presence there? This lioness seemed to mind quite a bit.

Kwaruza took her time calming down, she was sure it was the hormones that was upsetting her but either way.
"Either Tamu or I should have been informed that you were here." It was a statement and that was the last she was going to say on the matter of him being here without them knowing.
"I suppose you want to join then?" There was still a little attitude in Kwaruza's voice but mostly she had calmed down. She had a job to do and so she had to do it. She would still need to talk to Tamu though, she didn't like the idea of lions on the prides lands when she had newborn cubs running about.

" If you'll 'ave me... " He responded rather curiously. He hadn't give much though to actually joining the pride... But nor had he given any thought at all to leaving it after meeting Feana... He couldn't really imagine leaving her willingly, weither she wanted him around or not. Being a member of the pride, rather than a lingering outsider would make it that much harder for the female to escape his presence. One less excuse for her to use when wondering why they possibly shouldn't be together.
" 'd be my honor ta join yer pride. " He murmured, giving a bow of his head to the female in front of him, who was obviously someone of a high ranking if she were able to accept new members in so easily.
" Can't claim ta know much 'bout it righ' now. But I pick up on thin's quick. " He said as he finally shifted back up to his full height now that the other was calming down, offering her a grin. " So.. Wha'da I need ta do ta join ya, kitten? "

"Firstly you can stop calling me Kitten, my name is Kwaruza. Secondly you can tell me your name and then thirdly you can come with me down to the shoreline and you can do the rites. If you pass you get to stay, if you don't, you can't." Simple as that and she was being somewhat harsher then normal. She put all that down to the simple fact that he hadn't given her the best first impression in the world.

He winced a bit at her words, ears flicking down a moment before the grin returned to his lips. " 'm sorry, Ma'am. Didn' mean ta offend ya. Jus' got a few bad habits in me. " He said, shifting himself up as he bowed his head. " Name's Cifitu'Bwondoke. 's a pleasure. "
He was rather used to making a bad first impression since he could be a grouch towards males, and overly flirty with females, it was hardly his first time offending someone. He kept his mouth shut for a change as he stood completely to his feet, mindful to keep the weight off his injured paw.

She watched him and then nodded.
"Follow me."
She led him down towards the shore explaining the rites as they went so that he could go and enter the water once they arrived. It didn't take long to get to the beach and she sat herself down on the sand.
"Go on then, enter the water and wait for the tide to come in. I will call you once you have passed. If you come back before I call you then you will have failed." Her voice was still harsh but she knew that the rites could be dangerous, the sea could kill.

" Yes'm. " He hummed out, staring out to the water a long moment before he moved forward with a slight scowl. On a normal day, he was quite fond of water, and throwing himself into it, odd as that was. But with his current wounds he knew this was about to sting badly.
Huffing out as he stopped just before the shallows, he glanced back to the female wondering just how long he would need to remain in the water.
Shaking away his hesitation with a incoherent grumble, the move forward into the water, a low growl of pain escaping him. He ignored it though as he pressed on into the water til his feet no longer could reach the sandy surface below, careful to keep his head up above the water.

Kwaruza watched him enter the water unaffected by the pain he was going through. If the sea wanted him in pain then she was hardly the right person to question it. She watched as the water rose around him and as he struggled to keep his head above the water.
"You can come back." She called and waited for him to return. As he returned she welcomed him in to the pride. She then asked what he was good at. After all she needed to know what position he would work best in. Everyone in the pride had to pull their own weight and help out.

He offered her a grin and his thanks at the welcome as he hauled himself back out of the waters to sit in the sand before the female and let himself dry a bit. A hum escaped him at her question as he thought over what he was best at. " Well, ma'am. Suppose m' most useful skill'd be my ability ta figh'. So somthin' ta do with protectin' other's 'd suit me jus' fine. Feana told me a bit 'bout pride ranks... Nyangumi? Think that's what it was called.. "
He said, sitting a bit straighter. He may be injured now but it was fast healing and it would hardly stop him from doing a job he was given by the pride.

Kwaruza nodded. There was no harm having another guard about.
"Of course that would be fine. Try to make sure you are in perfect health before you start though." She had noticed the wincing and everything else. This pride was to be protected and she didn't want anything to get in the way of that.
"You are welcome to find a den where you wish and make yourself at home." Kwaruza finished and then smiled. All finished, another lion in the pride and now at last she could go and rest.
