"Come on, Z'venmine, hurry up!"

"Calm down, Tiarenth, the water isn't going anywhere," the blond wingrider said as he put his shirt and a few towels down on a rock before running across the hot sands of the beach towards the shoreline to join his bonded, who was already splashing about in the cool water.

"Oh, it isn't? Are you sure?" She said in a devious tone before turning and flopping heavily into the water on her side, angling herself in such a way to send a huge wave of water towards the young man. Z'ven, who was already up to his waist, flailed a bit in surprise and alarm at the sudden wall of water. He tried to back up as fast as he could, failing spectacularly, and got assaulted over by the huge wave all the same.

The slender green bugled victoriously as she righted herself, and waited for her rider to surface.

Except, he didn't.

Eyes swirling with worry, she peered about in the water but the sudden wave had stirred up a lot of sand, and she couldn't see through it. She didn't dare move her feet for fear of hurting him, so all she could do was worry. "Mine? Z'venmine this isn't funny, where are you? Get up!" Quiet, distressed noises issued from her then -- well, quiet for dragon, anyway -- until her bonded popped out of the water next to her on her other side somehow, and pushed against her sleek hide. He knew he wouldn't be able to tip her over all by himself, no, but the action would be enough to startle her.

"Stop worrying, you silly wherryhead!" He thought to her at the same time he surfaced next to her, getting the exact reaction he was aiming for: Her head whipped around and she squeaked in surprise before toppling over onto her side, away from him. Beaming, the victorious rider waited as she got back up with a similar grin on her muzzle, and opened his arms as she lowered her head.

Except she didn't let him hug her, like he thought she would. Instead, she promptly shoved him back underwater with her muzzle. "Don't do that ever again! And who are you calling a silly wherryhead? I'm not the one swimming around like a gangly deformed fish," she teased as he stood back up for the second time, but all he could do in retaliation was laugh.

Really, Selachii reflected, the Weyr thus far wasn't too different from the Weavers' hall, except for in every good way he could have possibly conceived of. Sure, there were still a million chores to be done, and the Weyr was more crowded, and the nooks where they slept were even smaller than the rooms at the Hall. Well, and then there were the dragons. They were everywhere, and though Sela hadn't necessarily had a huge fascination for them before, he found himself incredibly excited now -- they were so large, he thought, enthused.

Even his swimming excursions had been full of them! He thought rather fondly of Nan and her little gold Reneneth, the first dragon he'd met other than the one that brought him here. Maybe, Sela thought, highstepping over the hot beach sands, he'd see another today!

As he shed his shirt, dark skin gleaming in the high sunshine, he looked out into the water -- and he wasn't disappointed! Still, they seemed to be busy... oh well! Lifting his head and running like there was Thread at his heels, he sprinted for the water's edge. It was his usual approach, after all -- and making sure he didn't simply dive onto anyone, he practically splooshed into the water like an oversized rock with a terror-inducing howl of glee.

Z'ven had recovered the long-handled brush he'd come in the water with -- along with his dignity -- and was currently scrubbing the green's side when the boy's howl of glee met their ears. It wasn't exactly terror-inducing but the blond man jumped in surprise all the same, and both rider and dragon turned to study the source of the noise.

Tiarenth scrutinized him with whirling blue-green eyes. "Mine, ask him if he is a candidate," she said after several moments. Thankfully this one was a male, because if a girl had wandered into the sea nearby, the greenrider would be thoroughly distracted and Tia would make him stare at her the entire time and there would be consequences if he didn't. "And there still will be if you don't keep scrubbing, Z'venmine," she teased, snaking her head around to prod his side gently with her muzzle.

He grinned and stroked the offered muzzle before going back to scrubbing, although he turned to study the boy. "Hello there!" He called, removing one arm from bath duty to wave at him. He'd ask when the other came closer.

The unfamiliar voice calling out to him made Sela look up curiously, a bit guiltily. Oh dear, what had he done? Had he disturbed someone he shouldn't have? That's what he got, he thought, whooping into the sea like a wherry-headed madman --

"Oh! Hello!" When he'd been waved at, Sela's attention shifted, and he grinned broadly at the other with a beam, shaking water out of his dark hair. And the dragon -- she was lovely... "To both of you," he amended, beaming a little bit. "My name's Selachii!" His confidence probably came off as a little bit cheeky, but that was simply him. "Don't think I've met you before!"

"No, I don't think we've met before," replied the young man as he continued to scrub the green's side, although he gradually moved up towards her back. He waved to Sela, indicating that he could come closer if he liked. "My name's Z'ven, and this is Tiarenth," he introduced with as much of a flourish as he could, given the soggy circumstances, and the sleek dragon bugled a hello. She could be polite, this one wasn't bad. If there was a girl in the water, however... Well, that would be another story entirely. As it stood he was male, and a potential attention-giver, so he was fine in her book unless he proved himself otherwise. Not that the attention he gave her could compare to Hers, but she did love getting attention from others all the same.

The wingrider smiled and used the leg that was offered to him by his green, and easily slid up onto her back to get a better scrubbing angle. He'd be in trouble if he missed any spots, he knew. "So, what's your name? Are you a candidate?" There, he'd asked, and if he wasn't, well, from Tia's tone earlier, then the younger man should be.
