Pans sizzled and shook as cooking was being done, sunrise coming in a matter of minutes. As the stove was turned off, two large dishes were quickly filled with eggs and bacon, more than enough to sate the hungers of the other eight heroes, that Mika girl, Amelia, and then enough left over for at least a few guests. And what wasn't eaten would go to Triumph, once everyone got back. In fact, Kyros kept breakfast simple purely because of the emptiness of the house. Most of the kids had left at one point or another, though Kyros didn't know where in heaven's name any of them went.

But, he took two plates of food, after hastily devouring a third for himself, up the stairs to a certain room. Lightly opening the door, he peered in, smile on his face as the sun slowly began to rise, slowly walking in as the sleeping Amelia began to stir. There was hardly anyone even in the house anymore, so why not deliver a nice breakfast in bed to Teifi's little girl, and his favorite Dancer? That is, if he could find Teifi. She'd managed to be hidden from view, maybe in another room or something. But, she'd appear soon enough, as he'd come to know after so long with her.

"Rise and shine, kiddo! Breakfast!" His booming voice was just a little on the hushed side. You could probably hear it a few rooms down, if you tried, so it wasn't that loud. Couldn't go around waking up whoever is in the house and sleeping, now could he? As he laughed a hearty laugh, he placed one of the plates down on a table before placing another down on the small table next to the bed, waiting for Amelia to begin eating.

Being unconscious was very boring. There wasn't any dreams, not like with normal sleep. With her fist curled so tightly over that little... something... that had been placed into her hand, anyone could have assumed she was pretending to sleep. Her eyelids twitched after a little while, though, as the sun began to rise. Amelia's vision was blurry again as her eyelids parted. The pain radiating out from the back of her head made it very tempting to just close her eyes and try to sleep, but... there were more important matters.

She slowly pushed past the pain and sat up. Her hand still curled into a fist, fingernails digging into the sensitive skin of her hand. Amelia's muscles were still locked there, and she stopped trying to force her hand open. Eventually it would just relax and open up on its own. She looked around the room; was this another room? “My room...?” she wondered aloud. Amelia rubbed her eyes with her good hand. Teifi wasn't here... and neither was Renault. Where is he? He was right there!

Amelia's body tensed as footsteps approached the room. “Dad? Dad?” she called, her voice hesitant. She started to sit up, and as the hulking figure of Kyros appeared in the opened door, Amelia slumped back against the mattress. He was holding a tray of food; at any other time, Amelia would've appreciated the home cooking, but she felt too nervous to be hungry.

"Rise and shine, kiddo! Breakfast!"

Amelia watched him as he approached. She managed to sit up and arranged herself so she sat cross-legged. Her eyes were on the fatherly Kyros as he placed her food next to her on the bedside table. She didn't eat, though, just spoke up again. Her voice was a little strained.

“You... where is Dad?” she asked. Amelia pushed her hair off of her face with her relaxed hand. He was right there! She had seen him! He couldn't have disappeared! I wasn't out that long... was I? “He... tall, greying hair, robes... he was right in the room next door! Earlier, when I was awake! I saw him, did... did he leave? Did you see him leave?”

Teifi had spent the night in her own room, after washing up (despite her extremely lethargic state after having some of her energy drained) from the ordeal the night before. She was awake as soon as she had heard the first quiet clang of pans from downstairs- she was always attuned to that, as she normally took tallies then of what she needed to buy for the family that day- but today was no ordinary day. Those trifles could be set aside for one morning, at least. There were preparations to be made. Pushing herself out of bed and groaning at the dull ache that seemed to come from her entire being, she made her way to the bathroom and went to the sink.

She was amazed at the sheer number of makeup items that were available! At her time, they only had lead-based powders that were always atrociously white- the only way to cover up things then was to cover up one's whole face, and pray that the lead in the powder didn't cause the skin to break out into painful boils! And yet, looking at the more natural-looking powders before her, the dancer took advantage of this and went to work.... but not before a shower, of course.

Is this water... hot? Blessed Goddess, Castello wasn't lying! For a short while, it was all the woman could do to stare at the odd contraption that stuck unnaturally out of the wall... let alone the stream of hot water that seemed to come out of it. Soon enough, however, she grew used enough to the odd sight to actually take care of the business she had gotten in to do, scrubbing her blood-flecked skin so that no trace of her attack on Renault remained. The area beneath her fingernails proved especially hard to clean, but even those were eventually taken care of- no one would be able to tell what happened, save for the bruises on her neck.

However, the makeup more than did the job for her. After toweling herself off and changing into a new set of clothes (she didn't question it- perhaps whatever revived her kept reverting her entire being back to its original form? Perhaps her clothes were included in the spell?), she ran a brush quickly through her hair before setting to work with the makeup.

A dab here, a dab there- enough to cover the bruising on her neck, at the very least, as well as a few vanity dabs that just made her look... well, better. Once all of the evidence of last night's scuffle had been adequately masked, she smiled at the mirror and walked out, seeing Kyros slip into Amelia's room before she followed. Ah, Kyros was a good man- he knew when a poor girl needed to get some meat on her bones! Staying outside for just a moment, she made sure to yawn slightly as she made her way into the room, looking concerned as she patted Kyros on the shoulder and sat next to Amelia.

"...A graying man? Amelia, there's no one like that, here. You must have been dreaming!"

Motioning to the food, she smiled, picking up her own plate in turn.

"Come now, you must be hungry. Thank you for cooking, dear." A soft smile to Kyros was all she offered as she took a tentative bite, her eyes still carefully on Amelia's actions.

A raven soared over the trees, flipping and spinning as he went, and he dropped low to skim over a fresh, clean river happily as he approached Fefga's house. His hands dipped into the cold water and came up to not his face, but his hair, which had become a bit mussed during the time he had spent with Annis. He fixed his hair as he rose up a bit, whipping between trees until he burst out into the clearing and flared his wings.

He landed on the doorstep and waved dismissively at the new morph guards, then paused to consider his appearance.

Smeared, dark red lipstick marks along his jawline and around his lips and neck.

A huge red hickie on his neck, still getting redder. Hair that was still mussed no matter what he did. Yeah, nobody would notice. And he was hungry. The bird pushed the door opened and walked right into the kitchen, stretching. "Morning, g'morning," he murmured, making his way toward the counter. "Ooh, something smells good! Hey Kyros," he called out, hoping his voice would reach the Warrior, "Where's grub? And anything happen last night I need to know about?" He flared and folded his wings as he stretched again, and plucked a wayward feather out of his right wing, twirling it between his fingers.

((Castello, dear, we're upstairs in Amelia's room! o_o I can't see you from there!))

Shaking her head as Amelia fervently denied her, Teifi kept that concerned mask on, inwardly wondering just how long the girl would cling to the feverish delusion that she had a father. That beast was no father to the girl- he was a hideous, half-rotten monster that had dared come into her home and brainwash the girl she loved. Regardless, Teifi kept her blue eyes on those worried green ones, watching as her eyes flew between the place where Renault would have been standing (if they hadn't moved Amelia to another room) and back to the tanned dancer.

"I couldn't have been dreaming...! I practically touched him! I-It's not like you couldn't have noticed him, you were talking to him! Re-Renault! Father Renault, he's a Saint, I mean... the robes are a blatant sign! It couldn't have been a dream... he had come home..."

How tempting it was to tell her everything! Why yes, he was here. He left of his own accord, left you alone after his own friend called him out as the monster he truly is! Why not stay here? He's abandoned you, he left you here, you belong here!

But alas, that wasn't her plan. She was smarter than that- couldn't just turn a ploy around after only a few seconds of establishing a stance! Rather, she let herself frown, look to the place where Amelia's eyes had flitted to once or twice, and raised her hand to rest on Amelia's forehead as if she had some kind of fever. Once 'content' that the girl wasn't ill (not that she truly suspected anything of the sort), Teifi shook her head, more slowly this time, as if the girl just told her that swine just flew into the kitchen after jumping over two rainbows and sneezing the moon out of the sky.

"Amelia... Amelia, dear. There was no one here, last night! I went to bed early with a sprained ankle, remember?" Holding up her foot slightly to show her, Teifi lowered her swollen foot again as she hugged the girl close to her. Her voice was a protective purr, born of a twisted love.

"You are home, honey. There was no 'Father Renault' here at all. It was all just a dream..."

Amelia's expression grew more and more dazed and frantic as Teifi shook her head insistently. Her eyes couldn't have lied to her that badly, could they? She didn't just saw him, she heard his voice... and Teifi couldn't have been imagining things! They were talking to each other! I saw it! I... and then I woke up... she felt her hands shaking. She had seen him, then things had faded to black after that brief burst of pain, and then woken up and things were almost the same, except the room was different... she had fallen asleep in Teifi's room, hadn't she? So why was she suddenly in her own? Did I... fall off of the bed? Hit my head? It'd... it'd explain the pain...

She felt Teifi's hand rest against her forehead. Her eyes started to blur with wetness when the woman's palm disappeared from her skin, and then she shook again. "Amelia... Amelia, dear. There was no one here, last night! I went to bed early with a sprained ankle, remember?"

Amelia turned her eyes down to the blanket. Her left hand was still clenched tightly; the sleep paralysis hadn't worn away yet. She felt a pair of arms wrap around her and pull her body close. Amelia closed her eyes. It couldn't have been a dream... it couldn't have... Dad has to come back...

"You are home, honey. There was no 'Father Renault' here at all. It was all just a dream..."

Amelia didn't respond; she just hiccuped. She didn't move any closer to Teifi, but at the same time, she didn't pull away from her. She just let herself be comforted, trying to process the verbal slap in the face. 'Oh, yeah, your dad that vanished without warning a few weeks ago? Yeah, he hasn't actually come back yet. You were dreaming. Sucks to be you.' Amelia leaned her cheek against Teifi's shoulder and said nothing, just let her hug her.

Teifi continued to hold her close, feeling the young girl's body tremble and shake from the sheer amount of disbelief that crowded her fragile mind. While it was true that Amelia didn't move to hug her back, it was enough for her not to push the dancer away from her- it meant that, at the very least, there was a sense of resigned acceptance of her. There was no more rejection, unlike the slap she'd received from Renault last night; nothing that seemed to imply that the girl truly remembered any of the things that she had truly spat at the priest the night before.

"It's all right, dear. It's all right." Rocking Amelia's small but still strong body gently as they sat together on the bed, Teifi hugged her closer when she felt the blonde girl hiccup from the tears that she was sure were going to come, if she let things stay like this. Surely she wouldn't be so bad a mother as to let her daughter cry like this, even though she knew the real truth of what happened?

At that thought, Teifi could not help but smile.

The grin was not motherly. It was not peaceful.

The smile was of an accepting malice that festered in her heart as she held her daughter close.

It's working. Soon, she'll be mine.

Putting her hand on Amelia's, she made no notice of how tightly the girl's fist was balled up, let alone the small piece of paper held within those strong fingers...

A faint creaking signaled the opening of the front door, a noise gone unnoticed until a voice echoed through the near empty halls.

"Hey Kyros, where's grub? And anything happen last night I need to know about?"

One of the pups had made their way home, the nonchalant tone most likely Castello's. The Warrior didn't even know the Raven was gone, let alone when he'd come back, so the arrival caught him by surprise, to say the least. While Amelia and Teifi began talking about unseen people, or whatever they were talking about, Kyros slipped out into the hall, making his way to the top of the stairs. As he reached a point where both voices could be easily heard, he spoke down at the Raven, a laugh in his voice.

"Well, well. Look who got home finally. There's food in the kitchen, help yourself! And I think you'd be better off asking Teifi what went on around here, since I was in the kitchen the entire time." He put a hand to his forehead, as if laughing at his own seclusion. But, he looked back at the kitchen, expecting some kind of clamoring. "But don't eat it all, got it?"

Amelia felt the tears start to wash down, trailing along the corner of her mouth to let her taste the salt. She hiccuped again, reached up with her stiff, fisted hand, and rubbed at one eye. Her shoulders shook as she tried to keep herself from crying; she was stronger than this, she had been without parents for a long time, and she could handle this... She could handle this...

"It's all right, dear. It's all right." Amelia let Teifi rock her, trying to pretend for just a minute that the redhead's arms were really the ones she remembered from so many years ago. It helped a little, and the tears started to stem. She couldn't understand why Teifi was doing all of this, why she placed so much care towards an unfamiliar girl, but it was nice...

She paused as Teifi's hand rested on her open hand. Her left hand, curled in its stiff fist, was starting to tingle. Her fingers twitched. Finally... Amelia started to open her hand and frowned. A paper? Amelia pulled away from Teifi and opened her hand slowly while her good hand reached into pluck the strip of paper off of her reddened palm. The paper was worn, like whoever had put it in her hand had torn it away from a book. Her lips silently formed the words, eyes widening at recognition of the penmanship.

"I am sorry.

I will always love you..."

Amelia gripped the paper tightly in both hands. They shook slightly, tears forming again, but not of sadness this time. "You..." she hissed. Amelia shoved Teifi away from her and stood, turning to face the dancer with hurt in her eyes and anger spilling out of her throat. "A dream? You're telling me my own father coming back to the manor--a manor that isn't even yours--is all a dream, and yet I have this," Amelia held the paper before Teifi's face for just a moment; the paper was soon close to Amelia's body again, like the dancer might take it; "to prove that he was here!"

Amelia gripped both hands into fists, the tears spilling fast now. "You dare... d-dare act like this... I have a family! I have a father and a fianceé and you act like none of them matter, don't you?" Amelia paused, hiccuping once. Her voice lowered to a strangled whisper. "You don't... you don't even deserve to be anyone's mother!"

Amelia wasn't sure if she was overreacting or not, but frankly, she didn't care; after being knocked unconscious twice and held captive in her own home, she felt she deserved to overreact a little. Amelia pulled her arm back, then let her fist fly, slamming into Teifi's face, right between her eyes. She didn't even pause to see how Teifi fared after the sudden attack; Amelia simply bolted. She slipped past Kyros, should he still be standing in the hallway, down the stairs, and blasted right out the door.

The moment Teifi's eyes saw Amelia's hand open and the piece of paper being plucked out, she'd tried to make a move- but already, the damage was done. What at first appeared to be nothing but a crinkled piece of garbage turned out to be far more lethal than that- within a few seconds of reading it, the blonde girl had turned on her with a hiss that would have terrified her, had she not been too shocked to truly react to the girl's sudden turn to malice.

However, her push was stronger than the legendary dancer had expected- the girl's strength was nothing to gawk at. Feeling a brief sense of whiplash as Amelia's hands shoved into her clavicle, Teifi bit back a cry when she barely caught herself, keeping her eyes on Amelia the entire time while she yelled at her.

Shock gave way to something else, and suddenly words poured out her mouth, unhindered by anything- what did she have to lose, after all? A smile that betrayed sneering eyes showed on her face- a bittersweet cocktail that truly seemed out of place on a woman who just a few seconds earlier was hugging the girl.

"...Family? But you called me your mother- you came back to me! Why do those I love never understand...?" For a moment, she looked away from Amelia- almost as if she was looking at someone shorter standing beside her. However, her eyes quickly snapped back to glare at the general. "I am your only family. I will make sure of it."

The pretense of a gentle smile was gone- a truly feral grin was all that remained. Just as Amelia mentioned Rhys and Renault, she let out a quiet, malevolent chuckle that shook her entire body- did she really think that mentioning them would matter? Raising one finger, then two, she made the motion of slitting her throat with the index finger of her other hand, revealing the bruises from Renault's hand against her throat and also clearly revealing her threat.

"Your lover, your father... If I have to slit the throat of every member of your accursed lineage, so be it. You will be mine! I will have a child, even if the goddess struck me barren!" Reaching forward to grab that cursed paper from her hand, Teifi hadn't even had the chance to move forward a yard before she watched the fist approach.

There was a flash of pain, a distant feeling of her body collapsing...

And then everything went black.

The tables had turned. Now Teifi the Fleetfoot was rendered unconscious, her hand still in a claw-like motion while her eyes were still eerily open to the dark ceiling.

It looked like Amelia had slipped out from beneath the claws of the beast, after all.

She looked around. She saw breakfast on the stove. Impossible to resist. She walked over, took a plate weakly and began dishing food onto the plate. She went to the table and practically fell into a chair, stuffing food into her mouth as fast as she could.

Something had disturbed her. The work she had slaved all night on... Had walked off on her. The power she had mistakenly given it had allowed it to escape while she was out. Mika was left with nothing... to show for it...

She thought that perhaps it was around the mansion somewhere. She wondered where it would be... What kind of trouble it was getting in... Should she just go around calling "Madriaaana?" Or should she be searching the floor for her miserable creation?

She got up after finishing her food... A shower. Yes a shower sounds wonderful. She went to the bathroom.

What... Is this? She spent a few minutes trying to figure out the faucet. Once she had figured it out, she had no problem taking a warm shower. She showered quickly and got dressed.

She began to wander the mansion, searching for her lost creation... And maybe the remaining heroes.

It was dark. Looking around him, Shento could only see the mangled patches of light that had managed to escape through small holes in the stone wall. The air was thick with a heavy stench that smelt of decaying flesh, which made it difficult to breath is some spots. As Shento journeyed slowly forward, he could feel the rough, jagged floor and walls beneath his hand and his feet. The more he went onward, the more the darkness consumed the hope. But he somehow knew that he had to keep going. It was as if he had been there once before. The feeling grew and matured, as black began to cover even the holes in the wall. Then, there was sheer nothingness.

A low growl, an omen of evil, entered the room. Shento stopped in his tracks, and reach behind his back. There was nothing there. He reached for his belt pack... nothing.

"Foolish human...." A deep and dark voice uttered suddenly. "Your pathetic kind has long been nothing but a thorn in our side. To think... we, who are mightier, bigger, live longer... we who have proclaimed eighty percent of the land as our own... live shut away because of your precious sacred treasures. But now... That is over. This is... your end."

At that moment, torches lit up all around the edge of the wall, revealing an open cave. Shento was standing atop a central pillar of stone. Dark power seemed to emanate from the ground, and the earth began to shake. The figure of a colossal dark dragon revealed itself in front of the sniper, and breathed out a hazy mist from its mouth, that went around Shento, melting his way of escape.

"Do you fear darkness, boy? Yessss, I can feel it. You always have. You fear quite a bit, don't you?" The beast chuckled sinisterly. "How funny that mankind would send a coward to defend itself. And also... how pathetic. Humans... are truly worthless creatures." The torches fell and doused themselves within the dark abyss, as the earth quaked. Whatever menacing light there was slowly began to fade away, leaving only the evil glow from the beasts eyes. The sniper stood there, unable to move, unable to look away. He was trapped, and helpless.

"You wanted to see her again, did you? You wanted to save your kind? Slay darkness itself and send fear running? You have never seen true fear, nor evil. I am the essence of fear. I am the darkness that will always thrive!" Dark flames shot up from all sides, and the shaking doubled. "You will face fear tonight, boy! You will know what darkness is! You all will! All you humans.. YOU WILL DIIIE!" Powerful black flames shot from the dragon's mouth toward Shento. All was covered by them. Darkness returned.

The quaking stopped, with a horrific scream, as Shento arose from his bed. The room within Fefga Manor was peaceful. Birds were chirping outside. Shento looked down, his hair falling over his face. He breathed heavily for a moment and let the sweat drip from his brow. He looked over and saw his bow leaning against the wall. He then left the bed and traveled to the window, looking out upon the lush greenery, the sun having just come up, revealing the peace there was to behold. He had been out all night on guard, investigating, and plain just sneaking around. He closed his eyes and sighed.
