Demion was beginning to find himself wandering further and further away from home as of late. Not that he really ever had to worry about getting lost, as his family was relatively nomadic, all he would have to do is wander around their typical haunts and they'd show up eventually.

But today he found himself in once again, unknown territory, searching for lunch. He'd been stalking a group of wild dogs that had been in the area. Not that he'd actually seen them yet, but the signs and the tracks were fresh so they had to be somewhere nearby. With a sigh and a casual flick of his tail he continued on his hunt. They couldn't hide from him forever at least.

"I could teach ya all the tricks of the trade, and take you hunting 'very day. Don't get me wrong, that'll definitely do you some good. But when your stomach is rumbling after a week with no food I can guarantee you that, when all the planning fails and your stuck in an unfamiliar spot, your instincts will kick in fully, and there ain't a greater weapon than that."

It had been tough at first, for him to learn to hunt alone. Ever since he could walk he'd went with his father and sibling on hunts. He'd sat back and watched for the most part, in awe as his father had taken out a small pack of feral dogs single-handedly. Well at least enough to be considered breakfast for their small group, the rest had ran off with their tails between their legs. After being off on his own, awe had quickly turned to envy upon realization of how hard a feat like that was.

The past few months had done him good though. As much as he loved his family, he'd slowly began understand what he really wanted. To be able to stand on his own for once.

A sudden noise had the raptor on alert, slowing his pace to lessen the noise, and crouching down behind a group of over-grown bushes. The scents had been growing stronger, and now he could hear them as well. Daring to creep closer he figured they had to be over in the next clearing, judging from the lack of rustling leaves and bushes.

Lunch was within sight. Now if only he could get his stomach to shut up for a few more minutes.

When the male was close enough to the point he could see movement past the bushes in front of him, he knew he was pushing his luck. His fur was obviously not the best camouflage for the this setting...or any setting for that matter. A fact he'd learn to deal with.

Still crouched Demion managed to back up enough so he was completely out of sight. If he could manage to pick up enough speed, it'd counter the fact of getting noticed sooner than most. Once satisfied he closed his eyes and took a single steadying breath before he bolted forward, not even bothering to be quiet.

His sudden appearance as predicted, sent the entire clearing into chaos, something the raptor took advantage of and lashed out, snatching up a dog in each claw by the back of the neck before clocking their heads together with sickening crunch. They both dropped like dead weight, and Demion quickly turned back to the chaos preparing to either attack again or get lunged at.

He just hoped his dad didn't mind him stealing some of his tricks.

He hadn't sensed her prior to this, but the simple burst of action was enough to send a jolt of adrenaline through his blood and clear his senses enough. He'd noticed her before she'd wandered out and was able to mask any sort of surprise because of that. She'd garnered his attention for a moment before staring off in the same direction, where the dogs had ran off. While he wasn't particularly against sharing, 2 dogs was barely enough for one let alone 2 adults. Even so, he was far from done hunting, he still wanted more.

"Ya know." He began casually as he turned to the female with a smile, crimson eyes still sharp with the prospect of a hunt. "They'll try and re-group nearby before continuing on." He let that hang in the air for a moment. "If you want we could still catch up and snag some of the slackers."

Excellent. A hunting partner. At least for today, he reminded himself. As much as he wished to be independent from his family, that wasn't to say he didn't get terribly lonely from time to time.

His grin widened at the female's acceptance and he took a moment to scoop up both dogs. The sound of a growl startled him though, and he suddenly looked up, expecting to see an intruder somewhere but when none presented itself he turned to the female again. Then it hit him and he couldn't help but snicker.

"I didn't think it possible, but yours is as loud as mine." There was then a dull thud as he hefted one of the corpses and tossed it over to the other raptor. "Our prey is gonna be on high alert...we don't need our impatient stomachs scaring them off." With that said he wasted no time before tucking into the remaining corpse. Hopefully it would quiet his own belly for the time being.

Though his muzzle and claws were blood stained, it blended in well with the natural color of his scale and claws so he payed it little heed. Toying idly with a loose bone, he couldn't help but feel a pang of empathy as he ducked his head with a grin. "Yeah I know how that goes. Just struck out on my own recently myself." He purposely forgot to mention that he'd just wandered off one day and that the rest of his family was probably worried sick.

Finishing off the rest of what was left on the bones, he turned his gaze back to the female who'd apparently finished before him. "Well, I believe we've given them enough of a head start, don't you?" He took a moment to stretch and shake out his fur. "Shall we be off?"

The male looked solemn for the moment. "Yeah, my dad is a bit on the protective side as well. If my sister didn't have him wrapped around her little claw I doubt she would be allowed out of his sight." A small chuckle before the grin re-appeared full force. "My parents are probably worried sick, but that's to be expected regardless of the situation."

"Nothing to apologize for, just don't want our dinner gettin' away." With a nod he drew himself up to his full height before taking off in pursuit, his claws digging up ruts of dirt with the force of his first few steps. Once reaching his stride he tucked himself low to rely on the surrounding plant-life to hide him. He kept his head tilted to the side, keeping an eye out for his new hunting partner. Perhaps they could flank the pack when they came upon them again.
