Just What The Hell IS Bishop?
I think he's a robot... check out the mecha suit!
  Some sort of alien, maybe...
  A genetically altered super-soldier
  A God, like The S
  Something else entirely...

Since my memory sucks, I'll leave it to Gohan to provide a summary.

Notice that Raph quoted Mikey from the games, with his "eat feet" remark?

I thought this episode would be another filler-type episode with no connection to the normal plotline, from the commercial. Imagine my surprise when Bishop appears. I hate him more each time he appears...

It seems the Agent Bishop present in Roswell in 1947 is the same one as today. Thus, it's possible that the Bishop who met with President Grant was the same one as well. Unless he's had many bodies cloned, with the memory intact between each one...

We see Stockman's new uber-spider mech for the first time in the show itself, as opposed to the opening theme.

I'm just glad to see some plotline beginning.

Oh geez, let's see if I can remember.

So, Bishop is crazy. We got that. The President is coming to NY to meet with the UN, and Bishop wants to prove to our good leader that his department is useful. He comes up wiht an elaborate scheme of trickery. The turtles come out of hiding to see the president. Leo thinks this is dumb, secret service are there after all, and if they get caught it's a one way ticket to the exam room. But he's a party pooper. The others convince him that it's a great training exercise, because the secret service are supposed to be the "best of the best." They all want to see this speech about the future of space exploration. Don comments "It'll be historic."

And how right he is. From up above, a horde of some of the most cliche looking UFOs appear. Don deadpans, "I told you it'd be historic." Then aliens attack! The president flees! The turtles aid! The aliens explode into a gooey mess! As the Turtles go to get the Pres outta his crashed car, the army comes, so they must flee. Then the limo gets abducted by zee aliens.

Oh, yeah, Bishop is also pissed off about the turtles making his fake aliens gooey messes. So much so his hand squirms. Baxter chimes that his body is decomposing too fast. Dun dun dun. So it appears Bishop isn't a real boy, eh?

Anyway, the turtles discover the UFOS are fake using those nifty looking goggles of theirs. And they also see a truck with a sattelite zoom by. A truck that looks like one of Bishop's trucks! Our turtles are smart, so they think this thing might be directly related to the fake UFOS. They attack the truck, take out the satellite. The UFOs vanish, the truck is crashed, and Bishop is none too pleased. Before a fight can ensue, the remote control UFO crashes.

The President has been kidnapped. Are the turtles bad enough dudes to save him?

They think they are, and so they enter the UFO! They come across some inactive not-so-extra-terrestrials. And then Bishop comes and makes them active again. Mikey and Leo stay to fight them off while Raph and Don go on to find the President before Bishop. Mikey does not like this plan.

Raph and Don stop for one reason or another. My memory is hazy, I kind of forget what transpired here, but Leo and Mikey come barreling down. "Aliens" are chasing them. Raph stays behind to attempt to fight them, Leo calls him back. "Aww, but I like it when they go pop..." Raph complains as he retreats with his bros.

They reach the President who is supah freaked out to see them. Then the army and Bishop come blow up some aliens then fire on the turtles. The President is convinced they're hostile aliens too!

The turtles are then seen at home, watching the President give a speech.. Then the news shows an artist's rendering of the alien threat! Four not so fun loving-looking turtle creatures! The President explains that the Earth Protection Force is getting full funding for whatever they might need.

It was all about money the turtles growl.

----

Loved the episode! It looked like it was gonna be crap from the previews "MORE aliens?! WTF!!" But it turned out to be really interesting! One of the most interesting things I found was that...it seems Bishop's body is unstable. Definitely quite a sight to see his skin squirming around like that.

Everything about this episode was great, I don't really think I have any complaints!

Except that Bishop's outfit was stupid, but yeah.

I believe Bishop is a genetically altered super soldier. i think he may SOMEHOW transplant his memories into those numerous clone bodies he has floating around all over the place.

I enjoyed this episode. We may have learned something new about the mysterious Agent Bishop. The way his arm and forehead (IIRC) quivered suggested to me that he is definitely not human -- real surprise there, huh?

I've got a suggestion for the series: Make George W. Bush the president in the cartoon! cool I'm sure Peter would get a lot of nasty politicians after him, though. xd

And yep, I noticed Raph's "eat feet" remark. wink

Excellent recaps/summaries S and Gohan.

I have to admit I'm wondering wtf is going on with Bishop. o_O I just assumed I'd missed something since y'know... I do occasionally miss things. Let's hope that from here on out they put the episodes in order! biggrin

I loved Raph's:

Raphael
"I hate this techno crud, just show me what to hit!"

rofl That's our boy. *pats*

But since when did Leo start sounding like an angry Captain Kirk?

Angry Captain Kirk Leo
"Why Bishop? All these games! For what?"

Oh and the end? Um... I dunno what they were on (particularly Leo but I'll spare you another "fun with quote") but I'm a 24 year old chick who barely graduated high school and I knew damn well what Bishop was playing at near the end. Of COURSE he wanted to save the Pres so he'd be all "OMGILOVEYOU!" and give him 'ze moolah. How did the turtles miss that? o_O

Yes yes, and obligatory "angry Leo" comment from the Lady Leo: Is it just me or is Leo really losing his hold as "leader"? He still does some leadership stuff but I'm noticing more and more that it's the others, and quite often Raph who is making decisions. I can't give specific examples from this ep, I guess it's just a general thought. I may have mentioned this before too.

lol I loved Raph's line there too, Lady.

And I also noticed the eat feet remark! smile

And yeah, the others definitely don't look to Leo for leadership at this point anymore. Mikey and Donny aren't aggressive (wrong word) enough to take charge, so it just kinda falls onto Raph to sort of lead at times, it seems.

I also liked:

Raph
I don't have time to whack you, Mikey!

*also noticed "eat feet" and how raph's seemingly more of the leader (or rational thinker who takes the lead)*

i liked the episode and it left me wanting more. i wanted to find out more about bishop. the only thing about i didn't understand was how the spaceship with the president could crash from the sky and not completely explode and stuff. hell, most likely, the president was in the very center or near the front where it had impacted.
no wonder bishop nearly pissed his pants when he found out the turtles cut the satellite feed. his plan would have completely come to an end (although i'm sure he could have gotten funding from the government since "aliens" would have been blamed for killing the president)

Because it's a kid's cartoon. whee I doubt the parents of the world would take kindly to Donny killing even the cartoon president.

You'd think in that case it would work out even better for him if the Pres had died. Hasn't he given Bishop trouble in the past?
PostPosted: Mon Nov 14, 2005 10:54 am

Perhaps the fact that it's an alien spaceship is supposed to remind us that it's less capable of blowing up on impact? (Just a thought . .)

While I'm all for getting a plot going for the season and stopping with the one-spots, cute as they are, I'm really wondering where in the shell angsty Leo fits into everything . . you know, as more than just a simple writer's copout to keep whatever they wanna start going?

Bishop me no likey and I am another who hates that "Tron-suit" he spent most of the episode in. stare

Frankly the only one taking larger stupid pills this episode than the Turtles, and Leo specifically, was the president. eek Can't he see how Bishop is using and manipulating him!?

Artue, you saw Hitchhiker's Guide! You don't think they were making up that "you can't be president with a whole brain" thing do you? whee

Didn't EVERYBODY see that movie?

Well... the TMNT world president is at least smarter than Dubya.

I'm sorry . . having a student brain mine seems to let things slip from time to time . . maybe I'll have to grab some packing peanuts and shove 'em in there . . xp

Speaking of Hitchhiker's, I think I'm gonna haveta sit down later today and get my Alan Rickman fix with a tape or two . . I LOVED him as Melvin! 3nodding

Getting quickly back on topic, why hasn't Raph resorted to smaking Leo the way he's constantly smaking Mikey? I mean, right now I'd say Leo's being the more annoying what with his attitude and all. Oh! and does anyone else think that it woulda been quite easy for the Turtles to still be able to grab the president and get away from Bishop's men? I just hope that 'oversight' works for the season's plot . .

If you ignore the fact that Leo's new attitude makes him a total tool it is actually workout out in Raph's favor. He's always challenged Leo for the leader role (though never seriously I don't think) and now he more or less has it.

As... someone here has already said, Don and Mikey aren't going to step up as leader so that just leaves Raph.
