Nasrin's eyes fluttered open. With a yawn she lifted her head from the ground and looked next to her expecting to see her friends. When she saw no one there she frowned. She had overslept again. While they were still in the rogue lands someone would have woken her up already, but now there was no need for that. They were in a safe place now.

It had been a few days since Nasrin and her 'family' arrived in the swamplands. She personally was very happy to be a part of a pride again. She missed all the hustle and bustle of pridal life, though she hadn't realised just how much until recently. She still preffered to stick close to the others from their make-shift group though. The red and white lioness had grown very attached to each and every one of her five friends.

Nasrin yawned again as she stretched her stiff body and limbs. When all sleepiness was chased away she got out of the den. Time to find said friends and get something to eat.

The clouds were a strange shade of puce that late morning, and Hitaahita was eying them with an absurd look on his face. Maybe it was because they were such an odd color, or maybe it was because he couldn't believe he had actually find a place to call "home" and he found the clouds quite pretty. Whatever the reason, the male was content to look at them in silence for a while.

He was alone for what seemed like the only time in his life. There was no chattering, no giggles, no shouts, and no pestering. Just plain, sweet silence, thank the spirits...His usual group of friends were exploring, no doubt, since they hadn't been living in their new home for very long.

...But strangely enough, the lion found that he hated the silence even more than being around constant noise. Grumbling to himself, Hitaa began to walk, secretly hoping to run into someone.

Within moments, he spotted Nasrin wandering about. Hitaa stopped and his expression softened a bit, momentarily forgetting his pent-up frustration. He had known the lioness since adolescence, and they were quite close, even if they did or didn't get along.

"Nasrin," Hitaahita called out in greeting after a moment.

Nasrin was starting to get annoyed because she hadn't yet found any of her friends. She did run into a couple of other lions from the pride but she didn't even know their names yet. She felt strangely lonely without her friends even though there were a bunch of other lions around.

Her stomach grumbled and steered her thoughts in a completely different direction. Where could she catch something to eat around here? With these these thoughts in mind she continued aimlessly wandering around until she heard someone calling her name. When she spotted Hitaahita a wide smile appeared on her face. "Morning, Hitaa!" She greeted cheerily as she bounced towards him. She gently bumped her nose against his as a greeting. "How are you today?"

Out of all her friends, Nasrin felt closest to him and Tekenya simply because she had known them the longest. And because they had saved her from a very miserable life. Hitaahita was a bit of grumpy-face, but they still managed to get along...mostly.

The nose-bump was an unexpected gesture and it caught Hitaahita off guard, making him recoil a bit. Nasrin's happy-touchy-feely pokes, bumps and nuzzles still took some getting used to, even after all the time they'd been together. He still didn't understand why he never expected them, and why he didn't like them. They just made him feel...Odd.

"I'm okay," he replied, the same usual answer whenever someone asked him that question. He was never "super" or "great"; just okay.

The sounds of the lioness's stomach grumbling broke the silence every few moments, and Hitaa raised an eyebrow at her.

"Are you hungry again? You're going to get really fat one of these days." he said. Anyone who didn't know Hitaa would probably be offended at hearing him say that, but if you knew Hitaa, you'd know he was just teasing.

Nasrin chuckled at Hitaa's expression when she greeted her way. His reactions to her touching him never ceased to amuse her. She tried to respect his personal bubble but sometimes she couldn't help herself. It was just who she was.

"Of course you are." She said as she recieved the answer she had expected. "So I take it you are settling in well?" She had no doubt he was. Out of their group only Semira was still acting a bit awkward, but Nasrin was sure that would go away soon.

Nasrin pouted, pretending to be hurt. "I am not fat! So what if I get hungry more often than you, it's not a crime." She plucked a berry from a bush as she said that and chewed it proudly. She actually looked rather silly as she did it which was the point.

"I guess," he replied at her question, mulling it over. "I like it here. It's not what I'm used to, but I like it." he said decidedly.

When the red lioness at the berry, Hitaa made an almost pouting face, one brow furrowing while the other twitched up.

"You have issues..." he said slowly, staring. She did eat a lot, but at least she wasn't fat. Not that he would care if she was fat. Would he? Come to think of it, he hadn't really met any fat lions in his life...Why was that? How odd...Great, now he couldn't stop thinking about fat lions.

Why was his mind so weird?

"By the way, those berries are poisoned." Hitaa lied after a moment, swiftly turning around to begin walking away.

If Nasrin was hungry, they'd just have to go find some food. Before she ate even more "poisoned" berries...

"Heh...Heheh... -cough-"

"Issues?" Nasrin repeated, tilting her head with a curious look. "It's possible, my friend, it's possible." She chuckled.

She plucked another berry just as he said they were poisoned. "Poisoned. Mhm, okay." She nodded before the words fully registered. "Poisoned?!" She jumped away from the bush, spitting the berry out. "What do you mean poisoned? And you say that just now! How can you be so calm? Are the berries deadly?!" Wide-eyed she bombarded him with questions as she quickly caught up with him. I'm too young to die! She looked around for some water to wash the berries out of her mouth when she heard him laugh.

"Heeey!" She pouted. "It wasn't funny! Let's just find me some food." She hurried to get ahead of him. She stopped after a few paces. "I think I saw a rabbit there."

The look on Nasrin's face was absolutely priceless to Hitaa, and he choked on his laugh, stifling it down before it could escape. It was unlike him to explode into laughter, after all. But still, he grinned, unable to help himself. He disregarded her questions, knowing she would catch on quickly. She was pretty sharp, after all. Well, not entirely...He always managed to fool her a little, just at first. It was fun. He just couldn't help himself.

"What the hell did you spit out your food for? Didn't anyone teach you how to eat when you were little?" the male joked sternly, continuing to walk away.

Hmm, a rabbit. That would do nicely, he thought.

"Where?" he asked simply, two-toned eyes scanning the place she stopped in front of.

Nasrin stared at him. "First you tell me that the food is poisoned and then you ask why I spit it out?!" She asked with disbelief. Then she added: "And yes they did teach me how to eat. And you are so weird. Just saying." She said with a small smile. Their whole group was weird, so weird in fact that most wondered how they managed to stick together. They had strange ways of interacting and often very amusing to bystanders.

"Shhhh!" She hushed him and continued in a quiet voice. "Over there by that bush." There was indeed a small brown critter there. "Breakfast, here I come!" She said with a smile and stalked towards it. Thank the spirits, the small animal noticed nothing. When she was close enough she leapt and landed right on top of the rabbit. With a quick snap of her teeth it was dead. Nasrin then picked it up and returned to Hitaahita. "Wham shum?" She asked, well tried to anyway. The lioness put her catch on the ground and asked again. "Want some? Or are you afraid you'll get fat?" She teased.

The red lioness was a skilled hunter, Hitaa thought; she always had been. She was swift and powerful, and everything a huntress should be. Despite her joyful nature, she was a brutal killer when it came to the hunt. But he admired that. Hunting was essential, after all. And having people hunt all the time meant less work for him, since everyone always offered him food. Heh...

"Pfft," Hitaa started, eyelids drooping. "The only reason I'd be afraid of getting fat is if I ate as much as you." he teased in his usual serious way. In truth, he didn't think Nasrin was fat in the slightest. And maybe she really didn't eat more than normal; maybe he just always happened upon her whenever she decided to eat. Who knew? Well, for crying out loud, it didn't matter anyway.

Eying the brown rabbit for just a moment, the male flicked hist ail and stepped forward. "Sure, gimme an ear." he said. Some would say the lion has strange tastes, but Hitaa would just say he didn't care.

Nasrin smirked. "Well, I don't want to look like a walking skeleton." She bit back. Not that she thought Hitaa looked like one. On the contrary, she thought he was a prime example of what a young male lion should look like. But it was more fun to tease him. It seemed they always teased each other about their weight when they were together. Go figure.

"Ear coming right up!" When they had first met Hitaahita's odd tastes had often surprised her but by now she had gotten used to it. Nasrin carefully tore the rabbit's head and gave it to the dark male. "Here's two. Enjoy!" Then she laid down and holding the prey with her claws she got started with her breakfast.
