There was a new moon up in the summer skies. The moon seemed to grin down on the savanna as it shed its silver beams over the grassy plains. Stars seemed to twinkle all that much brighter in a choirus of joy for the new moon. In fact, everything seemed to be in high spirits tonight. The critters of the African savanna seemed to chirp all that much louder.
Only a strange marked hyena seemed to be having a problem as she grumped across the silver lighted plains. The hyena wasn't snarling and pushing over things as she treaded. Her aura about her though was heavy and unfriendly. Even as the moon light played upon her fur, making it look as if she glowed, her aura ruined the effect making her a little unapproachable.
Finally she stopped and rested on her haunches, frowning. This yena wasn't in the mood to go back to her den tonight. How broken Asa seemed to be just worried her and made her feel all that more grumpy. How dare he have her care about him. Though, deep down, she knew if anything happened to him she'd break. For a moment the hyena let her guard down and started to sob quietly to her self, falling to her side in the grass with a soft grace.

He hummed softly to himself as he wandered throug the grassland. The night seemed to be brighter than usual and the moon giving all it could even though it's light was slight.
New moons were always good nights for things to happen. The world seemed to be a different place while the moon brought itself back to life. He had not expected those happenings to include the sound of crying filtering over the savanna.
Raising a brow he headed that way.

Ylva was alerted by the sound of something else moving in the grass. She had let her guard down but quickly straightened her self to her feet as if she hadn't been crying.
There was no scent, or sight of what ever she heard. Still, Ylva stayed on all fours feeling guarded. After a moment she settled back to sitting.
Maybe it was her mind playing tricks on her or maybe something was really out there. The moonlight seemed to be no help no matter how cheerful it was. The happy critters were even less help with how noisey the damn things where.

He had been lucky to already be down wind and when the female took notice of his footfalls she didn't catch any other sign of his presence. IT was probably a good thing knowing how aggressive other females he'd run across could be.
Pausing he cleared his throat. "You shouldn't look displeased on a wonderful night like this.

Ylva frowned, so someone had seen her in a moment of weakness. The hyena tilted her head at the other, but not because she was confused.
"I suppose your right.." The hyena got back up and shook the stray grass from her back, "... But its hard to carry a smile all the time even in the most cheerful of places." Though, truthfully, Ylva almost never smiled. When she did , the smile just fell on her maw awkwardly.
"How long were you watching..." The tone was flat but unannoyed. Just matter of fact, more statement rather then question.

"Ah, but you should not frown when there is so much to smile about." The seasons had been good this year and he could see nothing to be sad about. Perhaps a death but even then they were just returning to the land for others to live from.

Ylva looked away at hearing she was not being quiet with her quote on quote private moment. How careless of her. Still, a hyena that came here to investigate if everything was alright she couldn't be mad at . The female swallowed her pride and attempted a smile. On her it looked very out of place and almost far away.
"Thanks for the concern..." Her words were pleasant but her tone was not. She was trying though. Gold sticker for trying? Maybe not..

His head tilted slightly at the tone in her voice. She didn't sound very thankful but at least she had said something. That was better than most others he ran across who had tempers shorter than their hairs.
"I could not just leave it be. Sounds should be checked out if only for the knowledge of what they are."

Ylva sighed and shook her head. Why all of a sudden were there so many kindly hyenas.... Not that she minded. The hyena much preferred a kind hyena to an aggressive one any day. Still could she trust this kindly hyena next to her? Being untrusting some times was a pain in the a**.
"Your a strange one, " Amused, an awkward smile formed upon her maw. "I suppose Id probably chase after a sobbing sound as well... "
Still.. .could she trust this hyena's intentions to be truly sympathetic to her crying... For now Ylva stayed a little guarded. Would be a little naive of her to not shield her self to a stranger. Damn her nature.

He had heard often that he was strange but never too much mind of it. Everyone had their own views on things, even if they were against his own. "Odd or not i am simply here." He grinned slightly. "One can't always be picky about what turns up when they leave themselves where others may roam"

Ylva grinned wider. He was right after all.
"Thanks," The female mumbled to her, seemingly, knight in shining armor. He was right though he had come to aid her.
"I shouldn't have called strange... You did only come to aid me after all." Her tone was still flat but the dryness of her was starting to slowly fade away.

"It would not be the first time i have been called strange." Others often didn't understand the things he thought or what he tried to tell them. "Generally when someone does something outside of your normal it is the first reaction to call them strange"

Ylva nodded and relaxed some. He didn't seem like he was trying to take advantage of her or anything. He really was strange but not in the bad way.
"I suppose your right." Ylva tilted her head to the side peering at the male like a bird would, "So, uh.." She continued to stare. "Mind if I ask what your doing out here under the night sky?"
The question we blunt and to the point.

"walking." He gave her a slightly lopsided grin. He really had no other reason to be out other than he'd been walking and had just continued to do so. Most days he tried not to over complicate things if he could help it.

Ylva smiled at the simple answer. This hyena seemed likable enough by her book.
"You mind if I .." She really wasn't about to ask what she was about to ask... Was she?
"You mind if I join you on a walk then? I don't really feel like wallowing in my own self pity right now." And she had asked it... Dear god, usually she tried to keep away from others. Ah well. Her soft side was poking through.
