Somebody referred this to me on facebook. It is a free computer program called 'ywriter5'. It is completely free to download, and only takes a few minutes tops to load fully into your computer. It is designed by a published author, and completely free of any bugs or spyware; I should know, I've been using it for about a month now.
Anyway, this program helps:
organize all of your novel's
chapters, (these are all seperate, and can be divided into 'scenes')
plotlines,
drafts,
outlines,
reference pictures,
character profiles,
places,
times,
research,
notes
and character ambitions (amung other things).

And when you are finished your novel, you can export the entire document dicrectly into Word and print it off, ready for publication (or whatever you plan on doing with it XD)

It puts your entire novel (or short story, or whatever) into ONE document, complete with its own spellcheck, and automatic backup files. It is very easy to use and I highly recommend it if you are tired of creating multiple Word files.

Word doesn't have the ability to create custom character profiles with pictures in them. (putting pictures in word is a bit of a pain in the arse) If Word works fine for you, then have-atter. It's all about preference.

There are also graphs for plots, a character list for those in the same scene, etc. Word just doesn't have these. This is just a program to organize your ideas, not to just divide them up.

I personally have no idea how to break stuff up in microsoft word; it's all just lists of pages 1-100...lots of scrolling...

And like I said, after you're done, you can export all of it to Word.

Your choice. wink The worst you can do is check it out, find out that you don't like it, and delete it. I'm just putting the option out there.

This is probably the best thing that has ever happened to writers ever.

USE IT. I mean it. USE THIS SOFTWARE. It's so cool, and so much easier than the 10-50 different word files I ended up having for different aspects of my novel. Everything all in one place like this...BEST IDEA ANYONE EVER CAME UP WITH.

It makes it so easy to organize everything! And with just a click you can look at anything...characters, locations, text, notes...It's making my life so much happier right now!!!!!!!!!
