Name: J'riar Age: Twenty Turns Sex: Male Sexual Orientation: Bisexual Craft: Herdcraft Rank: Recently turned Journeyman Physical Description: J'riar is a tall young man, though has a rather pitiful amount of weight to accompany his height. Instead of being filled out nicely, he retains a wiry sort of figure with meat spread so thinly over him that one could probably pick out his individual ribs. That isn't to say that he can't consume everything within sight however. Mainly because of J'riar's spindly appearance, people are quick to assume that while he might be a fast runner, he’s lacking as far as strength’s concerned. Those same people will realize their mistake if they are ever on the receiving end of a punch. And true, while J'riar can run, he hates to do so and prefers to amble about if no one needs him at the time. His choppy, mousy brown hair stops about half-way down the man's ears, giving him a disheveled array of bangs that hang within his hazel eyes. Said eyes often seem to glint with a hint of humorous mischief, but never any truly hostile emotions. His face is thin, though long as well, accenting his cheekbones highly. Lightly tanned skin from many hard hours of working outside reveals a slightly creamy color underneath, proving that J'riar is even lighter in skin-tone than he already appears to be. He is not ashamed by this, or by his strong, calloused hands, and is not afraid to show that he has worked hard despite his somewhat lazy attributes. Personality: A tasteful blend of different characteristics composes most of this male's personality. J'riar is naturally a welcoming soul and takes it upon himself to make newcomers feel at home. He has a sort of air around him that makes one feel like getting to know him better. Perhaps it's his witty statements or the fact that he's never afraid to voice his complaints aloud. As aforementioned, this male has a lazy streak within him. If there is some sort of work that is not required to do, he'll certainly find a way to dodge it. Then, before he can be placed into a spot of trouble, he can cleverly devise an excuse that happens to be true in some way. If the work is serious though, then J'riar becomes serious as well. He'll do his best to complete whatever task is set for him, and he won't be afraid to do it with a spot of humor either. The gangly male would also be useful in a fight, for, while he tends to avoid such skirmishes, almost nothing unnerves the journeyman. His level headedness has saved him more than once and lets him rationalize in potentially dangerous situations. Romantically, J'riar hasn’t honestly thought about being in a relationship with anyone—male or female. Most of his life has been spent working, and only now is he really able to interact with others around or close to his age. He’s not afraid to flirt with boys or girls, however, seeing it simply as a playful, friendly sort of thing. History: J'riar's mother passed away in child labor when he was only eight Turns, leaving him with just his father. He had been the first born, and a strong, healthy babe. Why his mother's strength had suddenly failed this time around was unknown. J'riar's father was determined to raise his son the best he could, and then introduced the boy into the work of Herdcrafting. To the man's delight, J'riar adapted easily to working with runner beasts and such, loving the time he got to spend caring for the animals. Over the next many Turns, J'riar's skill continued to flourish rapidly, leading to his eventual promotion as a Journeyman. Perhaps he would have lived a very successful life, able to control beasts with a kind word and gentle touch. His sole job was basically to drive the poor animals there, food for dragons apparently, and as much as he marveled and wondered about the legendary creatures, J'riar had never seen one. Then the dragon came, to their home, for him. J'riar had been selected as a Candidate despite his father's protests. After all, the boy had never been found for all these years! Surely he could not Impress a dragon. Those words both stung and shocked J'riar, turning bitterly on his father to ask if the man thought he was unworthy of a dragon. Unable to gather a reasonable argument, the young man's father had no choice but to let him go. After all, this was the last year that J'riar would be eligible for such an honor. Surely he would not make it and could come back to work with the beasts once more. Pets: None Other/Talents: Being charming and attractive? J'riar is quite good with animals, due to his craft, and they seem to trust him. Picture: (Art by the lovely NN) Old Pic

Green Ianquith Green Ianquith Green Ianquith is a very flighty individual, easily spooked and not confrontational in the least. Fighting is something she’d like to avoid at all costs, it’s very silly and she doesn’t particularly like the idea of hurting someone. She can’t even find it in herself to argue and only in the most dire of straights does the green ever strike back. It’s very obvious when it’s coming; Ianquith will make herself as small as possible while raising her head and then, watch out! She cannot be stopped once she’s on a roll. Other than in the general area of an aggressor, Ianquith is shy, much preferring to watch everyone else than actually participate. She’s very much a proper lady. Very modest, this green is all about manners and the right way to behave. Anything that seems improper is just…well, it’s quite frightening! It’s almost as though she doesn’t know how to have fun, maybe she needs someone to teach her the way. Getting in trouble is one of the worst things that could ever happen to Ianquith, especially if she’s singled out. If that ever happens, she’ll really need Hers to support her and keep her from crumbling under the pressure. Ianquith is a waxing romantic. She lives for tales of love and just loves the idea of being the center of someone’s world. When it comes time to Rise, Ianquith will be very choosy and very sensitive to the needs of Hers. She will be easily influences to his choice and will all but push away any of her own desires. If she sees potential, she’ll certainly let Hers know, but she’d never actively pursue someone herself. It would be entirely improper of her! Oh god, why me? While his welcoming aura caught Ianquith’s attention, it was the level-headedness and the good nature that made her stay. Someone needs to teach this girl how to have fun and in return, perhaps she can instill a firmer set of manners into her J'riar.

The Tiger Snake The Tiger SnakeTiger snakes are a type of venomous serpent found in southern regions of Australia, including its coastal islands and Tasmania. These snakes are highly variable in their colour, often banded like those on a tiger, and forms in their regional occurrences. All populations are in the genus Notechis, and their diverse characters have been described in further subdivisions of this group. A genus of large venomous snake in the family Elapidae restricted to subtropical regions of Australia. Tiger snakes are a large group of distinct populations, which may be isolated or overlapping, with extreme variance in size and colour. Individuals also show seasonal variation in colour. The total length may be up to 2.1 meters (7 ft). The patterning is darker bands, strongly contrasting or indistinct, which are pale to very dark in colour. Coloration is composed of olive, yellow, orange-brown, or jet-black, the underside of the snake is lighter and yellow or orange. The tiger snake uses venom to dispatch their prey, and may bite an aggressor; they are potentially fatal to humans. Tolerant of low temperatures, the snake may be active on warmer nights. Tiger snakes give birth to between 12 to 40 live young, an exceptional record was made of 64 from an eastern female. Tiger snakes are not generally aggressive, and will flee whenever possible. When threatened they will flatten the body and raise the head above the ground in a classic pre-strike stance. It is known for its multiple bluff strikes and loud hisses. It strikes with unerring accuracy.

The Myth "White Snake" is an old chinese legend about a white snake who lived in the West Lake (Xi Hu) near Hangzhou. The snake possessed magical powers and worked hard at bettering herself. Eventually, she was able to take the form of a beautiful woman called "Lady White." She rescued and befriended another snake of lesser powers who becomes her handmaiden. Her name was "Little Blue" (Xianquin). They set up a home in Hangzhou and met a young trainee apothecary called Xu Xien. Lady White falls in love with Xu Xian and marries him. Together, they set up a Herbalist shop and White Snake used her magical powers to make the medicines especially potent. Hence, their business began to do very well. A buddist monk, named Fa Hai warned Xu Xian that his wife was actually a large snake and that if she drank wine she would change her into her real self. Xu Xian took the opportunity of the occasion of the Dragon Boat races and the announcement of Lady White's news that she was pregnant to press her to drink some wine. Lady White was frightened because she knew that if she did this she might turn her back into her original snake form. Xu Xian continued to urge her so she agreed to have one sip hoping that her magic would protect her. However, because of her pregnancy, her magical powers were weakened and she could feel herself changing. She ran into the bedroom to hide and her transformation however Xu Xian followed her and witnessed it. When he saw her in her old form he died of fright. Then Lady White went to a magic mountain, fought off the stork guardian and brought home the powerful herb that restored him back to life. Far from being grateful, Xu Xian became more scared of her than ever. He went to the Buddist Monastery by the Yangtse River where the Monk protected him. White Snake came and pleaded with the Monk Fa Hai, but to no avail. Then in anger, she gathered together a great army of underwater creatures such as crabs and shrimps. Neither side won this battle. The monk tried to capture Lady White and failed while Lady White could not get her husband back. However, Fa Hai realised that one reason that his magical powers were not working, was because of Lady White's pregnant state. So Fa Hai advised Xu Xian to go home and live with Lady White until the birth of their child. After their son was born, Xu Xian with the help of Fa Hai contrived to have White Snake revert back to her old form and to imprison her under the Thunder Peak Pagoda by the West Lake in Hangzhou. However, Little Blue managed to destroy the pagoda and set White Snake free. One version of the story is that they then went back to Heaven. Another version says they lived happily ever after with Xu Xian and the child.
