She was feeling calm today.
That was a good thing, right?
Rolling onto her back, Leilani smiled contentedly at the warm sun enveloping her fur as she laid in the grassy field, enjoying a day just to herself. Her family were lovely - she did love them dearly. Her sister was even trying to set up a pride of sorts, only for leopards. Leilani herself wasn't too sure about it, but she supported Kalama all the way.
Purring softly at the lovely warm feeling the sun's rays were giving her, Leilani flopped onto her side, bright amber eyes watching a nearby flower with interest, as a small butterfly perched on the corner. An orange paw reached out to swat at it playfully, causing the butterfly to flee and the leopardess to chuckle lightly as she closed her eyes once more, rolling onto her front to sunbathe.
Yeah. This was the life.
Sellion was giggling as he tripped through the jungle brush. His pink eyes were twitching with mirth as they flitted over everything in his path, imagining that the trees were towering demons and the bushes were the demons' minions. Ahh, what a glorious image...If only he were a tree, or even one of those bushes. But wait...Maybe...
He could turn into one?
"Yessss..." Sellion hissed to himself, grin broadening as he jumped over a mossy rock. A strange plan was forming in his head. But really, the "plan" was just random thoughts and images of trees dancing in the wind. Sellion was never all there mentally...
As he curled around a particularly wide tree, Sellion's eyes were met with a grassy field; a clearing. In the midst of this field were out-of-place, yet strangely familiar, colors. For a moment, Sellion stood still at the edge of the trees, eyes focused on the orange and blue, and brows knitting with thought. Then, it clicked. And he smiled.
"Orange thing..." he whispered delicately. Slowly, lightly, he walked over to the leopardess, paws barely making a sound as he made his way over to her. Once at her side, he sat down and bent his face down close to hers to get a better look at her. She looked different; larger. But it was the orange thing, yes...
It was his princess.
Leilani didn't hear any footsteps. Her own breath was all she heard as she purred again, eyes closed as she napped peacefully in the field.
Well, at least until she felt the weight of another against her.
Her eyes snapped open to meet Sellion's, and for a moment she just remained there, tensed, watching him. It couldn't be...no no no, not now! It was the cheetah from her nightmares, the cheetah from her childhood. The one who'd traumatised her! With a frightened cry the leopardess was on her feet, taking two long jumps back before she froze there, petrified. Too frightened to even move as she watched the chetah - who was still larger than her, even though she was now fully grown - watch her. And the way he was watching her...
It wasn't right.
She wanted to run, run back home and cry into her father's shoulder, but she couldn't move. her legs had turned to concrete, the only movement being that of her eyes and of her bottom lip, which had began quivering in fear. She didn't say a word.
The startled cry of his "princess" made Sellion's ears stand up and his head tilt to the side. As he watched her stand away from him, and as he thought of the sound of the cry she made, it became even clearer to him...
She was a demon.
She even spoke the demon language! That was what the cry had been, of course. It would take a FOOL not to realize that. He needed her for his cause. He would have her this time. In fact, he couldn't even remember what had stopped him from taking her the last time.
Then again, Sellion had trouble remembering a lot of things...
Flashing a fanged grin, Sellion coiled his tail around his paws where he sat and puffed his chest out a bit, perhaps trying to seem appealing. He ended up looking like a distorted black and pink cheetah with a kink in his neck.
"Hello, Princess," Sellion greeted in a low voice after a pause.
He was grinning. And it wasn't a nice grin. A low whimper escaped her maw as her whole body began to shake in fear, and yet her legs still refused to move, even as he sat up. Although he wasn't coming towards her - thank Mkodi for that. His chest was puffed out - what was he doing, preparing to hurt her? To scratch her? She gave another whimper, managing to take another step back, but nothing more.
Princess? She wasn't his princess!? Did he still think that? Oh, maybe that was why he'd come back! So that he could kidnap her and she'd be his slave or Mkodi-knew-what! She was terrified, and this was clear as he whole body looked like it was shaking. "G-G-Go away!"
Oh, great hell below.
She was trembling head to paw very violently. That could only mean...
...That she was about to explode HELLFIRE OUT OF HER BODY.
Being such an amazingly-powerful demoness as she was, Sellion thought it would be quite easy for her to explode the entire jungle if she wished to. Which was why he had to act quickly. A fellow demon stepping on another fellow demon's toes wasn't something that was acceptable. He had to make amends hastily. Somehow, he had to make her feel more at ease. But how...? Hmm...
Sellion stood and bowed his head a bit, looking at the leopardess through his tangled mess of hair. He did this to try and seem a bit more submissive and less intimidating. Unfortunately for the cheetah, it made him seem quite the opposite.
"But I can't leave a fellow demon in such a state of disrepair..." he explained quietly, almost sympathetically. "If you came with me, I could help you realize your true power."
Still shivering, Leilani whimpered again in a long, drawn out whine as she watched Sellion shift his posture, lowering his head. It was something one would usually expect to be a sign of submission, but she didn't trust him at all. Amber eyes watched him as carefully as they could with all the thoughts flying through her head, though a frown was what crossed her face at his words, the female utterly confused.
A demon? What!? She wasn't a demon! And she didn't have any 'power'! Although...wait. Her eyes clouded over as Leilani realized something - before. When she'd first met Sellion, he'd told her he'd been looking for power. And she'd shown hi that she could climb trees...which he'd said was a magic power. What if he was right, and she was a demon!? Leilani whined again, althoguh this one was punctuated with a somewhat feeble growl.
"No! I'm staying with my family! Go AWAY!" she shouted, her last part turnig into a loud cry as she felt tears rise in her eyes.
She was so scared!
Sellion laughed out loud.
His eyes never stopped moving over the female's face, taking in her expressions and watching her every movement; her every tremor. Demons were so fascinating to him, especially the strongest ones. This demoness made him truly excited, and he couldn't take his eyes off of her or blink for a split second.
"You don't have a family." he said, after his laughter subsided. He raised his head. "Demons don't have families." he spat suddenly, eyes hardening. "Demons live on their own." Perhaps he was thinking of his own past? Or maybe not. One could never tell what the cheetah was ever truly thinking about.
But he relaxed his stance once again, tilting his head to the side casually as he stared at the leopardess. "If demons did have families, then all of your family would be demons. But they're not~." he drawled, a strange look crossing his face. "If they were, you would have realized your true purpose by now. You would have joined me as a cub. You would have followed me." he said, words speeding out of his mouth one after another. "The fear inside you is a sign that you're a demon...You're practically bursting with power." he said, grinning.
He was laughing.
Laughing at her!
Why was he laughing! She wanted to turn and run as far away as she could but Leilani still found herself forced to stay - dare she even say compelled to? His first words hurt her, though, a look of fear, then disgust, then fear again crossing her face. But she did have a family! And they all loved her, very very much!
She looked just like her dad, only with the colours a little mixed up! They had to be her real family! Unless...unless it was one of these powers. And she hadn't realized it yet. That her colours and markings weren't really hers. Maybe she was a demon...but she didn't want to be. She wanted a family. Tears were now flowing freely down the leopardess' cheeks as she glanced from left to right, looking for a way out of this. But...but it was all making sense! If she was a demon, didn't that mean she could hurt her family? Hurt everyone she loved, even without realizing it?
A long, low whine escaped as Leilani gained the use of her legs again - but instead of running, she merely shuffled on the spot a she whined, trying to find a way in which to escape from this new 'logic' "I...N-Noo..." she spoke, although it was clear her defense was weakening.
The trees were swaying hard as a strong wind moved through them; those trees that Sellion imagined were demons. He could hear them whispering and cackling, urging him on. They knew of his cause. They were showing him that he was nearly there. He almost had this demoness on his side. If she was with him, no one could stop him. She was powerful; very powerful. And he wouldn't let her run away again.
The whine that came from the female made Sellion's heart flutter. To hear the demon language spoken so beautifully...It was delightful.
Sellion walked over to his "princess", stopping once he stood before her.
"Come with me now, orange thing." he said quietly, bending his head to stare into her crying eyes. "You don't belong with mortals." Those tears...She was leaking; leaking demonic power. It would only take a matter of days before she was the strongest demoness alive.
THEN THEY WOULD RULE THE WORLD.
...Hm, he was hungry.
She was so busy looking at the ground she didn't notice him approaching, jumping back with another cry as she suddenly realized. She didn't jump too far, though, perhaps far enough that a tree could fit between them, rather than the huge leaps she'd made earlier. She shivered still, watching the floor rather than him. She didnt' want to hurt her family...
But she was terrified of him! Even now, with him standing less than a foot away she could feel herself quivering so badly. But...but she had to protect those she loved. Even...even if it meant going with the cheetah in her nightmares. "I...I-I...o-o-okay. I-I'll go."
Sweet victory rang in the cheetah's ears, and he flashed a grin.
Surely Chana, his beloved demon sister who lurked in hell, was aiding him in his quest...Surely she had helped him persuade this leopardess to come with him. What a good sister she was...
Sellion moved beside his "princess" and pressed himself against her slightly as he began to walk, much like a human would've taken someone arm-in-arm to lead them somewhere. The grin was still present on his face and he made his way for the jungle, in the direction of his home base.
His demon army was building slowly, but surely. It was only a matter of time before the world belonged to him, and him alone...He would rule it all. Nothing would stop him. This leopardess would help him, with her vast powers. Yes...
He would rule the world.
