We've got a 'Favorite one-episode character' thread, so how about one dedicated to the one-off character(s) you found most obnoxious in Doctor Who?
There are several contenders for me, but I think Luke Rattigan from the Sontaran two-parter would probably be the worst. Well, he was supposed to be an obnoxious brat, so I guess they succeeded masterfully on that front, but between him and that silly 'Sontar-ha!' chant, it was really hard for me to take the story seriously at all. And I almost felt touched by his noble sacrifice, until he inflicted me with one parting 'Sontar-ha!' on his way out. Baaastard!!! At least UNIT managed to kick some a** at the end.
I found Chantho pretty annoying, too... but only because of that 'Chan... blah blah blah... tho' way of speaking the writer decided to give her. I probably would have felt sorry for her dying if they had her just talk in a normal manner. I totally understood Professor Yana when he was spewing his tirade about how irritating she was. I would have killed her, too!

For me it was probably that UNIT scientist from the Easter Special. He was sooo annoying.

I'm sorry for those of you who liked her, but I could never stand Jenny... (from The Doctor's Daughter) The whole thing felt like a big fanfic to me at the start and I never got over it.

I second the jerk rich guy. neutral
Luke Rattigan at least had some redeeming quality to him at the very end.
Jenny was a complete fanfiction character. She just acted way too.. unreal. The storyline was good until the end where her last few lines were just... way too over the top. I don't dislike her but she definitely isn't a favorite at this point.

Jenny...blegh. I can hardly watch that episode. I hope she never comes back. Other then that I liked all the one off characters.

All you Jenny haters must have been thrilled when she got shot and died at the end.
...too bad she didn't stay dead. whee
Just thought of another character I can't stand: that obsessive mortician lady in "Revelation of the Daleks". And the DJ. And the squire. That story was a like a treasure trove of lousy characters.

I too hated Jenny. She didn't seem like a person to me. What usually makes Doctor Who so great is the detail the writers put into the characters but Jenny wasn't as detailed a character as many have been. That episode was just like a fanfiction, it had the companion cross over, a daughter of the doctor, AND an easy plot of two kinds of people at war. Stephen Greenhorn has lost my respect.

Doctor_Whatsit More like ERIC SAWARD is a treasure trove of lousy characters. xp Yeah, but at least Saward had the courtesy to kill off most of those characters. How many non-recurring characters survived at the end of "Warriors of the Deep"? One. Man, what a classic story. I just loved when that nurse/spy lady tried to use kung fu against a giant sea creature. rolleyes

And the DJ. And the squire. That story was a like a treasure trove of lousy characters. Okay, I didn't hate her at first, I was just in shock after the "Hello, Dad!" pre-title sequence. Then she was explained fairly easily and I just decided to accept it and move on (much like what you do for Monty Python sketches). Then she did her flippy-jumpy acrobatic stuff and I started losing hope in the episode. I did enjoy her making the Doctor be quiet for once, though. I was actually upset and tearing up pretty bad at the very very end, but only because David Tennant did such a stellar job with his acting. And then I stared in disbelief as she.. regenerated? came back to life? I ended up being in shock again after I found out that Moffat was the one who pushed the suggestion to bring Jenny back to life at the end. lol

Well.. I thought Jenny was alright, but you guys are right, she IS a total fanfic character. The fact that she's blonde just makes that thought more.. real.
Isn't it funny how DT's girlfriends just seem to.. pop up in DW all the time? XDD
As for one episode characters I hated.. well, Adam What's-his-face from the first series. Well.. that's two episodes, but I still HATED him. He was being all.. human and stupid.. I wanted to bash his head in.
I'm also sorry to say, I didn't much like Astrid Peth. No, I wasn't jealous that the Doctor seemed to REALLY like her (I mean, geez, he's 900+ years old.. he needs companionship biggrin ) but what I don't understand is why he meets a girl, they immediately like each other, they kiss once (or more than once) during the episode, something happens, and they're forever separated! Same thing happened with Lady Christina or whatever her name was. Come to think of it, I didn't really like her, either..
The Doctor's such a pimp, it scares me XP

Sarah_Angel The one guy in the episode on Satellite 5 You mean Adam, the guy Rose picked up in the previous episode (Dalek)? Yeah, he was pretty awful. But at least he was intentionally bad, to give the Doctor a chance to do his "I only take the best" shtick. He certainly never had such high standards before...
