~ The Roleplayer's Guideline to Roleplaying ~ 1.) GRAMMAR! This is such an important part of rping because if you are having issues making proper sentences and spelling, then you need to go back to kindergarten so that the literate people don't have to suffer by attempting to figure out what you've written. So some basics are things like spelling, complete sentences that end with proper punctuation, capitalizing words that need it, no run-on sentences, etc. When it comes to spelling, we realize that not everyone is the best of spellers, but with just a little help from good old spellcheck you too can become a decent enough speller. So please watch it, because Tenshi does have some local grammar nazis and it really makes us twitch and possibly want to verbally destroy those that violate this simple thing in a huge way. smile
2.) Spell Check- please try and use the proper spelling of words.
3.)Tenshi doesn't use those silly action quote things such as * or :: or whatever you might be accustomed to using in thread rps. Once you get the hang of it, you might find it a lot easier to rp.

~ Tenshi Technicalities ~ (for the examples provided below, I will use my character Glissa, and Ginseku's character Kirai)
Where to Post
If this is your first time rping in a guild set up like this, there are a few things your should know. RP guilds of Tenshi's design are quite different from forum RPs. In forum RPs, everyone posts in the same single thread. Here in Tenshi tho, we have many different threads. Each thread stands for its own specific location. As your characters move around Tenshi and the surrounding areas, you change which thread your posting in accordingly. Example:
Glissa wants to take a bath: I post in the Hot Springs thread in the On Campus Subforum Glissa is done with her bath and wants to get a drink at the bar: I post in the Bird Wing Bar in the Off Campus Subforum Glissa gets all plastered and wants to go to bed: I post in her dorm room in the Dormitory Subforum
This may seem confusing at first, but you quickly get used to it. And this layout helps to keep things clean and easy to find. If you take an extended break or are unable to post for a while, it is much easier to come back and find where you left off. If everyone was posting in one thread, your rp could drown in the other RPers text.
How to RP with an NPC
In case you've never RPed with an NPC before, this is how it works in Tenshi. You control what the NPC says and does for you, to an extent. Godmodding NPCs is not allowed and harming them in anyway is not allowed either. That is unless your battling the arena master or a monster for an exam. You can not kill the arena master, but you can kill npc monsters.
Example: Glissa strolled into the library carry a particularly damaged book and tossed it casually onto the librarian's desk. Ms Laurance, the librarian, looked down at the book and became furious.
"Ms Navali! How could you abuse a book like that?!? And from your own library to boot?"
"Meh, I hate books..." And with that Glissa sauntered right back out of the library, leaving Ms Laurance standing there fuming.
Godmodding
Godmodding: This is a topic many people find difficult to grasp fully. Here in Tenshi Godmodding is not allowed period, unless specified by your rp partner for a specific sequence of events. Godmodding is described as controling another person's RPC, deciding what's going to happen to another person's RPC for them, causing severe bodily harm to another person's RPC, causing the death of another person's RPC, and displaying god-like or un-natural abilities.
Examples of each: Controlling: Glissa is fighting her friend Kirai. I post that Kirai does a specific action or thing, not Ginseku. This is me controlling Ginseku's character. A big no no. Deciding: Glissa is fighting her friend Kirai. I post that Glissa throws a punch at Kirai and sends him flying across the room. This is deciding whats going to happen to another RPC. This is a big no no. I can "throw a punch" in Kirai's direction, but I can not decide if the punch will make contact. That is left up to the other player. This can be easily remedied by using the random number generator. You pick a random number from 1-10. Evens mean you miss the attack, odds mean your attack hits its target. Severe Harm: Glissa is fighting Kirai. She attacks with her katana and slices Kirai's leg off. No no. We don't want to go around dismembering our guild mates. >.> Killing: Pretty self explanatory. Glissa is fighting Kirai. She performs a mega ultimate swooshy demon attack that Kirai has no chance of dodging or surviving. Glissa kills Kirai. NO NO. We really don't want to run around killing off other people's RPCs. BUT you can make an arrangement with some one to have a specific character killed off because they're bored with it or their plot came full circle, etc. This form of killing is allowed. Godmodding: On top of deciding what other characters do, you can not have an all powerful character. Your RPC cannot always dodge attacks, randomly come up with UBER MEGA ATTACKS OF DOOM, or anything else of the sort. It is ok for your character to have a really powerful skill or attack, but be sure to use in only once in a blue moon or save it for something really big like a giant 3 headed dragon attacking the school. Not a petty mock fight in the courtyard. This is also easily remedied by generating random numbers.
Godmodding in Tenshi will be severely punished. You will probably just receive a warning if its your first time. But if you keep it up, expect to see huge chunks of credits start disappearing.
Following the Rules
In each subforum there is a post at the top that details the specific rules for that subforum. Be sure to read these and obey the rules. This is also important to keeping the guild running smoothly, and to prevent rps from being unnecessarily interrupted. Also, you will come across threads that are only for the mods or crew to post in. Please do not post in these threads unless you have direct permission from a mod. If you do, you will receive a warning, and possibly have credits taken away.
RPing with Friends
Tenshi prides itself on allowing its members to roleplay at their own pace. Please do not become aggravated if someone you're rping with doesn't post when you want, and please do not just leave an rp hanging and take your character somewhere else. As a note we do not allow rude or aggressive behavior and it will be punished. All in all it is really easy to earn enough credits to make secondary characters. There is no limit on how many characters you can have in total, so you should have no problem switching to a different character should one plot line suddenly slow down.
Events
There are many different events planned in Tenshi, and many more to come. If you have any questions regarding the specific dates of events, please refer to the guild calendar. All dates are recorded there, and any changes or alterations will be noted there as well. Also, the calendar is a good place to scope out what your fellow guild mates are up to. We highly recommend you post any extended absences on the calendar so your rp buddies have a heads up on when you'll be gone.
Exams are the main way of earning credits in Tenshi. As of now, Exams are held every other month. There are only 10 openings for every exam. Once the sign up list is posted, you will have one week to sign up for the exams. Members are chosen for the exams on a first come first serve basis, so if you really want to take the exam be sure to sign up as soon as possible. But fear not, if you have not taken an exam before or have taken far fewer than the other members who posted first, we will choose the person who needs it more. That way we keep things as fair as possible. Once sign ups are over, your testing thread will be created and your battle field chosen for you. At this point you will have 2 weeks to finish your exam. The rules for exams are not always the same, and sometimes we add in different twists to see how well the rpers can do. Grading for the exams is very strict, so be sure to put all your effort into your test. If we deem you have met all the criteria of a good RP, or are showing steady improvement, you will get the most credits possible.
Special Events are also a good way to earn credits. Depending on what event it is, you can either earn credits for free or perhaps do a little bit of work for them. In the end, special events are very fun and pulls the whole guild together<3 You also earn credits by rping actively, helping other members out, helping the mods plan and or run special events, or just being plain old cool.
