Well every good ball must have a theme! Who knows what the theme this year shall be. Well the only way we can pick a theme is to ask those that come here to give their ideas.
The purpose of this thread is to: A) elaborate ideas that have already been made (in previous years) or B) suggest something that hasn't been said yet without searching through tons of pages.
If you want to suggest something now, PLEASE think about it a bit first, and if you want help elaborating on it, post your ideas here! Please note that the theme you choose needs between 6-10 rooms.
Previous Year's Themes: 1. Masquerade 2. Misc. 3. Planetary 4. Time Periods 5. Elements 6. Time Periods 7. Fairytales
The following is a list that has been added to since the 6th Annual Ball.

Elaborations pt. 1 Poyudi Hytori Always Remember My Name.....
I have an unfinished idea. Why not Theme the ball after T-Corp? In the 6th annual ball we saw Ms. Chambers and the board members. I looked back on that after the 7th ended and thought about it. The thought that poped into my mind was one of Dolly's remark about Ms. Chambers. "That women is dangerously insane." Or something like that. I thought to myself that it would be cool if Ms. Chambers was put in charge of the ball's theme, What would she come up with? That lead to me thinking, why couldn't we have a ball were everything is Themed after T-Corp? Like I said, It's an unfinished idea.
.....Poyudi Hytori.
Luna Verto I have 2 ideas:
1. zOMG based rooms (we could elaborate on this to do the Gambino mansion or other gaia rooms) 2. 9 muses rooms (like, the muses could each be the hosts, or each room could be based off the spirit of the muse it is named after (an astronomy room, a history room, a tradgedy room, etc.)
Possible rooms for idea 1 : Barton Town Village Greens Bills Ranch Zen Gardens Bass'ken Lake Old Aqueduct Gold Beach Otami Ruins ( And more if the open more areas (I didn't list Durem or the Boardwalk and such because I was think we could use zOMG images, and if they aren't open we don't have any images to work off of)
Possible rooms for idea 2: Urania (Astronomy) Clio (History) Melpomene (Tragedy) Thalia (Comedy) Terpsichore (Dance) Euterpe (Music) Polyhymnia (Choral Poetry) Calliope (Epic Poetry) Erato (Lyric Poetry) Splendifferous >>Oh so Splendifferous;;<<
>> Now that I think of it the retro gameboards is an interesting concept, but a difficult one to plan. Sure we'll have rooms but how would a plot actually happen? Also with a gameboard theme it could limit some, or most, ideas. Like with a candyland room, there are already people in that. Y'know Queen Frostine and all of them. That would limit that room considerably, but other games such as Risk, Monopoly, or Life would have about a million times more possiblitities. Although with a gameboard like Life, well, it has no structure. The game of Life in a room form could actually just be really boring. It would be an roleplay about...adult stuff. Getting married and losing money...losing a job...I was never very lucky in that game. A room based on the game of Risk would be slightly more fun, then again military tactics is always fun. For me at least.unfamiliar flying objects Perhaps the overall theme could be the RIGs, and each room could have a rig theme..
1. Gee boi turbo: "The Gee Boi Turbo, a lost handheld gaming console invented by a crazed shut-in, features amazing 9-bit graphics and tons of awesome prizes."
2. Emerald Seed: "Choose from a variety of imp assistants to help you grow a spring plant. If you're lucky your plant will produce a fruit, possibly containing rare and spectacular items!"
3. Famestar: "Reach for the stars as you challenge some of Gaia's hottest talent for fame and fortune!"
4. Midsummer Swirl
"Sol, the lord of summer, is threatening the beach and everyone's awesome summer with a devastating heat wave! Choose whether you'll help Kanoko, a local ice cream vendor, defeat Sol and his fiery gang, or whether you'll join Sol in wreaking sweaty havoc!"
5. Repo Lamp: "A gently-used lamp repossessed by tax agents... free the genie inside for a great reward!"
6. Fortune Egg: "The choice is yours: bust the egg open for a prize, or try to incubate it and hatch something even better."
7. Suspicious Package: "After a delivery mishap, Lance decided to sell off these mixed-up boxes in the Cash Shop. Each box contains one random item."
Poy: We'll always be able to get the items though. And even without knowing of the item in particular, the room would still be fine. animemangakuryujiru We can try a Movements theme? As in like arts; cubism, surrealism etc or perhaps out of art such as Romanticism, symbolism, sentimentalism... so each different rooms would correspond to the movement they were from and the things going on would also of course correspond to the theories of that movement. So if for like the Romantic, it would certainly be linked to emotions and feelings for the beauty in things etc Might be a bit hard to do....but its just one idea out of many and more to come =D another idea might be video games. Its one of the biggest industry out there, and everyone played a video game before in their life no matter how old or new: even 2-bit would be counted =D So we can have like rooms for the Big Titles which we can decide on. Such as Warcraft, Final Fantasy, Mario and even Pokemon =D xTrueBlissx xTrueBlissx o0o I love the muse idea...the tragedy really appeals to me...it would be so dramatic! Ideas: I love the idea of the 7 sins, because most people are guilty of at least one at any given point...it would be simply amazing. I see a cross between that and a carnival, Where the main room would be a circus of lost dreams, and the rooms the sins of the preformers that lead to it. It would be somethig like: "step right up one and all, and get lost in your desires..." T^T the art would be amazing too (((loves moulin rouge))) So, I had a dream about this last night (lol i know...im a loser) But if we did do somehing like this, I was thinking it could go something like this: there would be 7 rooms, plus the main circus room. People would start off in the main circus room, with the beginning story of how the circus became the way it is. Then there would be a link at the bottom, starting with room #1 and leading through room #7, giving each room the chance to tell their tragic story of how they individuially fell into that sin. It would encourage traffic flow, and users would be forced to check out all of the rooms before deciding on the room that they like best. As for the plot, the story could be told by a poor battered wind-up doll, about the events that took place, and how the once ambitious circus, became the circus of lost ambitions and dreams. ^^ Pixilated Envy I have talked with bliss already about how I have been itching to do a carnival styled event in one way or another-- be it for the ball or for some random event that I might throw myself on gaia. I am a bit concerned with basing the rooms on a sin. (Unless its collaborated with more themes to give it a boost) as I think it will leave our hands tied a bit. I would, however, encourage using the sins for say 1 room or one aspect of the carnival. I love the retro games and I'm sure we could even encompass a game room for the circus. Actually, likely that it would be good to have a few game "rooms". Classic carni games where you win teddy bears of various sizes and such. Have a ticket booth where we can have people buy tickets, win tickets, etc. Set up a carnival currency. And people could win teddy bear, gold fishies, etc.. much like the things you see in b/c pets. However, I'm a bit skeptical in going too deep into details on this as most of these ideas I have been mulling around in my head for an art event and I don't want them wasted if we go into a new direction. smile ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Also, I'd love to see us do a lot of "live-action" things. I know most of you want to hold true to past traditions as closely as possible. But, if there is one thing I have learned is when the world evolves and you don't evolve with it you get left behind. And as for the world of gaia, it has encompassed many flash features and such that we should take advantage of. I'd love to see us put on a few puppet shows/plays/dinner theater productions-- which could just as easily work hand in hand in a carnival. Which could have a lot of those ideas that you guys mentioned of the gods and goddesses, etc. Macrabre dances and other themed themed ball dances in towns or zomg, etc-- to eliminate a lot of.. where's the ball? While keeping to a schedule like that of a carnival and such. There isn't much that we couldn't do with a carnival theme. And I imagine we could have a wide variety of carnival uniforms that would likely not be too expensive to pull off. Refreshment stands with kawii ice cream, etc. I am a bit skeptical on making it a 'Dark Carnival' Exclusively. I know I'd LOVE a dark carnival.. however, I don't know if all gaians would enjoy the dark themes, as I'm sure most would enjoy some modern cheerful aspects. So maybe if we could find a way to tie in a dark/light element to appease everyone. I imagine we'd likely want to have a very intense image map.. which would literally be a map of the carnival. I'm sure some of you saw the map that dustin had for towns. Imagine that but kinda like a map of a disney park or something. It makes more sense in my head, lol. But, I also noticed that the biggest thing most people liked to do was run their own threads and I think a carnival would allow them a bit of freedom to follow along with that. The extra key point that i'd like to make is.. I think we need to avoid making the event too rp exclusive. Let's face it, I know for me in the library it was hell to be able to hold a well run rp with people coming in out of character with questions that needed answering or just posting random gibberish, emotes, etc. I'd like to see us running some intense rp plots with a couple Game Master/Quest Master roles to guide the plot as well as give us areas where we can direct the non-rpers. If we have aspects we can redirect them to, it will make it a lot easier to run the rp plots. I imagine I could have organized these points a lot better, but I'm kinda exhausted. lol.

Excellent, we already have the theme thread up! I'll see if I can think up of new themes to contribute and elaborate a bit on some of the ideas for the themes already suggested!
Also the sentence before the list is a bit off. This guild doesn't have another theme thread yet. Just thought I'd let you know if you feel like making the edit.

I disagree about the voting! I believe we need to give a wee bit of time for everyone, especially the possibility of new people to share their own FRESH theme ideas. As far as I remember, quite a few complained about the current themes we have above during the voting process. However, I do believe that a decision needs to be made a lot sooner then it was done last time.

Yes you are! xD I must not have been thinking when I copied that line directly. Lol, this is a place to post your ideas and elaborate on those that have already been brought forth from previous years of which I had compiled for the 6th Annual Ball and presented in the 7th and now the 8th. biggrin But please do post your ideas. ^^

Chess would be cool too. It would focus on one board game instead of a variety.
Lifesize chess people, like wizards chess from Harry Potter. x.x
it was cool.
